I think ultimately, the goal will be to have it on the MDE App. The value in the screens at the bus stop will be in situations such as this: let's say the amily and I get to the bus stop and realize we forget something...say the sunscreen. The screen shows that the bus for the park we're going to won't arrive for 12 minutes. I can run back to the room and get the sunscreen. If it shows it's only 2 or 3 minutes away, I'll stay put, bite the bullet, and buy the sunscreen at the park (and yes, get gouged - our penalty for forgetting it). Aslo, I think knowing exactly when the bus will be there will help with all the impatient kids (and adults) anxiously peering down the road every few seconds and keep everyone a bit calmer.

I don't know if they could have that info on everyone's TV in their rooms as you suggest. Unless it was a revolving thing where they showed every resort. I'm not sure they could have a channel specifically with the bus info for that specific resort. Especially challenging I would think, for where ever we would want this info displayed (resort lobbies also make some sense), are the resorts with multiple bus stops.

Yep, will be on the app one day IMO.

But agree with your points.

Also one person currently could down early and keep the slow movers posted when the next bus is.

I like the idea of a posted schedule at the bus stops more than the app. I also would like to see this for the return buses from the parks. The reason is that regardless of what Disney believes, not every human being has a smart phone. (I am actually the only one in my extended family with one.) Others of us wouldn't mine "turning off and dropping out" on vacation. So, when I get to the bus stop, I would really like to know how long I have to wait whether I have my phone out or not.

Channel 2 on all the resort TVs is a channel dedicated specifically to that resort. I don't see a reason they couldn't have a ticker on the bottom that showed the bus information for that resort -- you're only talking about 5 or 6 different bus lines at most. If you couldn't fit it on the screen you could just scroll or swap every 15 seconds.

There is a ton of value in having bus information reported both at the depots and on the app. I'll be thrilled when it all comes together.

The app should be "in addition" to the screens-not in place of.

Agreed.

Couldn't we make the same argument against FP+? ;)

For the record, I completely agree with your sentiments.

Actually not at all. I don't look at my app much at WDW. Occasionally for wait times, but I have a small card with my FP+ times for each day in my pocket/wallet. I don't need a phone at all to use FP+.

I think you're in the vast, vast minority of all FP+ users. The argument still stands.

Yes - that's my point, it shouldn't just be the App - it should be both. (They should be available at the parks as well, the worst is missing the bus home to your resort.)

While my first instinct is to agree with you regarding the bus waits in the parks...I (and Disney probably would also) fear it could create a saftey issue with large crowds of people sprinting out of the parks and towards the bus stops to try to make their resort bus that's arriving in 2 minutes.

Brilliant. I feel like I kill my battery checking times.

That's why I do it. I'm not anti-technology, I want my phone to last all day, and I find if I am constantly checking my app the battery doesn't last out the day. I really don't want to spend my afternoon sitting at a charging station. So, I have a small card with my plans for each day. If I need to refer to the app, I do, but my point is that I don't actually need the app to use FP+.

Good point...though as it is I find myself sprinting for the bus and getting there just in time...only to realize it's the bus for the resort next to mine. Anyone else do this? Everyone? Of course one time we did the same thing...we got to the bus and it WAS at our stop, got on the bus, relaxed, it pulled away, and turned out it was going to a different resort!!!! (The sign outside said CBR, but once the bus left we found ourselves going to AKL. THAT is a story in itself.)

There is another reason for using BOARDS, and avoiding an App - BANDWIDTH. An info DB being updated in real time, and getting slammed by 20,000+ cell phones, is not a good planning scenario. An info DB getting hit by about 100 locations with dedicated boards? That's probably going to actually WORK.
