News Round Up 2021

I was thinking about people who want to take a DCL cruise and add a WDW stay at either end. I've read that travel between the Brightline station in Miami and the Miami cruise terminal is not very convenient, so I was wondering whether proximity of the Broward Co. cruise terminal to the Brightline station (i.e., easier for guests to get from one to the other) might be part of Disney's motivation to sail from there. Of course, it could also be that Miami doesn't have room at its cruise terminal.

That's more than a perfectly fair statement. I have never ridden Brightline, so I cannot speak out-of-turn (any locals/others have additional information?). I have stayed in Ft. Lauderdale, but it was for sailings out of Miami the next day (HUGE cost effectiveness).

I was thinking of the audience that is only doing a DCL cruise and is willing to fly-in the day of, or as I would opt for an overnight, and an easy trek/walk to the cruise terminal in Ft. Lauderdale.

Disney Skyliner closing for refurbishment in early 2022

“The gondola transportation system will be closed January 23 through January 28 2022. Bus service and Friendship boat service will be available at the resorts served by Disney Skyliner.”
Nooooo! I mean, it only overlaps for two days of our trip, but it’s two days we’re at YC specifically to use the sky liner. Of course. 😂

Hopefully it actually ends on the 28th! I think my travel agent may cancel my entire trip if I change my mind on resorts again!

It’s going to be much sooner than this according to Mayor Demings today at his presser. He said the county would move to Phase 3 in the “very, very near future”.
I agree - July 4th was the latest and more of a "Known date". I assume at the rate they are going, they reach the goal by Memorial Day. Disney knows this is coming and I am speculating that they deal with this by July 4th and we also see fireworks.

Are you guys heading to TT this trip? Interested to see if they are showcasing an updated C8? Love, love the latest!!!!

In the announcement by Dr.Pam from Disney, she made this statement:

We know this guidance may vary based on local guidelines and the timing for new changes may look different depending on which Disney resort you are visiting. Please stay tuned to our resort websites for the latest information on specific Disney destinations.”

I added emphasis 🙃. Looks like they are telegraphing some things to come!

We are recruiting for program arrival dates between June and July 2021. Those that are unable to arrive until August or September 2021 can apply but consideration will be based on business need.

They're getting this baby off the ground pretty much immediately! A CP on another forum, whose original CP was canceled because of COVID, said he was already contacted, accepted, and will need to be ready to go by mid-June.

My DD was supposed to arrive early May last year. The program was suspended about 3 weeks before her arrival date. She reapplied when the applications opened on May 3 and got her acceptance on May 10. She starts June 15. It is a very fast turnaround. 3 of her friends also get accepted again and start in July. Looks like more Disney trips this year than I originally had planned :)

The second day the closure impacted us the Skyliner was back open by the late afternoon! So we only had to take the bus in the morning.

It would be nice if they are giving those that were accepted last year preference. They deserve it.

They actually did. All of the CP's that were sent home in March and the ones that were accepted but never got to report received the e-mail to reapply before they opened it today to anyone. They had to reapply by May 17 to be considered. There are arrivals starting June 15 and pretty much every week after that until end of August at the moment and that was before they opened the application up today to all others.

Excellent - so glad to hear that.
