News Round Up 2020

FYI - I was wondering about the cost of Cinderella's Royal Table now without characters and looks like they did adjust the price a little as I just tried to book something to see what would come up

Only one menu is available (listed as Lunch) and it is $62 for adults (instead of the former $75) and $37 for kids (instead of the former $45) - so not a huge savings, but a little bit

Pass

To add a bit of a rant - people complain about how expensive a trip to Disney is and then in the next breath spend $62 for lunch. perhaps if we as a group became more discerning about what we were willing to pay for Disney wouldn't be so overpriced.

Rant over.

probably not the board for this discussion, but dining at Disney is just so crazy - it gets built up as a big part of ones trip (and I know we do it too) but pricing keeps going up and then the dining plan plays such a role as the more the OOP prices go up the more of a "value" they can push the dining plan as - and people prepay that and then don't even care what the prices on the menu are

Not to mention the Dining plan forces purchasers to eat 1-2 meals per day at a WDW table service location and thus there's no availability ever.

One of the reasons I prefer Disneyland - food is a good bit cheaper and reservations (and often walkups!) are actually available. The character breakfast at Plaza Inn in Disneyland is just $36 for adults!

I mean it's objectively true that things have gotten very expensive across the board. Inevitably people will have to make decisions on how to spend money there but they're also used to enjoying these experiences at a certain price and now they'll have to make decisions to cut some of this out, or just not go as often as they used to. From what I saw in pre-COVID discussion threads, a fair amount of people were choosing the latter option (there's a whole thread about this).

Whether that ends up having an impact on how Disney prices this stuff is up for debate, but COVID kinda threw everything off so who knows what'll happen.

I can't even with the pricing on these add-on experiences anymore. And this isn't even a real experience! No PPO access because it's lunch, no princesses, it's bananas. I could make a million dollars a year and I wouldn't pay $62 for lunch in a tiny room with stained glass windows; I can do that at Church for free.

A man after my own heart! Thanks for the LOL today! That's one reason I'm excited about this Halloween/Christmas season. As an AP family for 4, it would cost us roughly $400 to attend a party for 5 hours (7pm-midnight) since we already get in for "free." There's is no world where I can justify $400 for a parade (that I'd really like to see), fireworks, and the ability to stand in hours-long character lines. Of course, this is pre-Covid, but I still think about the pricing. I'm excited to actually SEE some of the Halloween floats/characters and crossing my fingers for a Boo to You soundtrack as the calvacades come along!

I also say the same thing about staying on property. My October stay is $470 (including cancellation insurance just-in-case b/c Covid) at Windsor Hills in a 3BR, 2BA condo right next to the awesome pool and splashpad/water slides. Staying on property for the same stay is $1,165.62 at the cheapest if I booked today. I could've gotten closer to $1000 if I'd booked the POP GA or Passholder rate a week ago, but that's STILL not worth the price in my opinion.

I have my own DDP. It's called Disney Visa rewards dollars. :)

I bet the new B&B looks more like the new film than the old Broadway/animated movie.

Noooooooooooooo! You can make it “look” that way, but please keep the musical’s storyline as is. Don’t screw up the Belle - Gaston history, we don’t care if LeFou is gay or not, and don’t leave out If I Can’t Love Her!

I really hate we never got to see Frozen before it was axed. Maybe they’ll release a staged recording like Hamilton on Disney+.
