Undercover tourist called about our stay starting 7/29 at POP. They wanted to know if we wanted to cancel or be moved. I said I was looking at Disney's web site and Pop is listed to open on 7/10. She said that they had received notification from Disney that would not "most likely not" happen. She said Disney provided a list of customers that UT was to contact and verify what they wanted to do. She also said that UT had been "hounding" disney to let them know where people would be moved but advised that we should check MDE often as it would probably just change one day. She said that if we are moved it will be done by Disney at no cost and would be "an upgrade".

I didn't answer the phone the first time they called. Here is "Siri's" transcription of the call. Seems to be a lot of confusion and disbelief and maybe it's not true. She specially said they "got the note today" when I spoke to her. She said they had a list of guests disney provided them that they needed to contact.

This is only a guess on my part but I wonder if it has to do with the NBA staff staying at Pop? Having guests stay at different resorts allows them to more easily 'bubble' the NBA staff.

Are there any people staying at the resorts the NBA players are or they the only guests at those resorts?

Given how quickly the virus spread around a couple of MLB teams this week I'm wondering if they're trying to reduce exposure?

African American folklore as told by a white Southerner, with a racial bias. I used to think it was no big deal. I have even seen Song of the South in theaters. However, after listening to the "You Must Remember This" podcast series about Song of the South from last Fall, I had a change of heart. It's not blatantly racist in appearance to most of us today, but once it's pointed out, it is. Plus, people have been complaining about the movie since it was released. It's a small thing to do to help correct decades of injustice.

That was the Song of the South movie. The characters on the ride are the characters from the folklore. Splash Mountain itself is the only legitimate nod to real African American history and culture in the park because it is disconnected from the movie.

Disney has a Song of the South problem and changing the characters in Splash Mountain doesn’t fix it, but is really just an attempt to bury the problem. You really want to fix the problem, you would make a new movie based around the stories Song of the South was based on. You put someone like Whoopi in the executive producer role and hire a great African American screen writer to tell the story. You don’t reskin a ride based on African American folklore with a movie based on German folklore.

If a passholder has multiple resort stays can all those have reservations at the same time? That's the situation I'm more likely to find myself in as an out of state passholder.

Yes, I am an AP and have park reservations for two different stays currently.

I have an AP certificate attached to my MDE acct. and resort reservations for Sept (7 nights) and Dec. (6nights) I was able to make park reservations for all 13 days.

Sorry to go OT here, but I lived in the HV many, many years ago. (mid 70's) I went to New Paltz and stayed in the area for a few more years. I even lived in an 18th century stone house! Beautiful area and I loved the mountains. (although I missed the ocean, having grown up on LI, not too far from the beach)
Anyhow, I retained that bit of HM info as well.
I did not know about the origin of Zippity Doo Dah and thanks for sharing that. I love that song, but my association is solely from the happy feelings I used to get on the ride. (Sadly, I can't ride it anymore because of my back) I hope the re-theming tells a complete story. I loved how there were the scary elements, then the drop, and then a happy ending. I think that was one of the reasons it was my favorite ride.

How funny, I grew up on Long Island (my mother and sister still live there) and now I am in the Hudson Valley (though a bit lower down than where you were)

I fully agree with you about it telling a complete story and that being a big reason the attraction is thought so highly of. I saw someone refer to it as "perfect attraction based on imperfect source material"

I suspect they will keep the same basic flow to the storyline told, but guess we shall see!

I don't think it would surprise anyone knowing Disney's terrible IT department, but I also don't think it would surprise anyone if they didn't take care of the WDW APs.

I made two 2021 stays (6 nights each) .. and my daughter (has inactive AP attached to her name) was able to make park reservations for all 14 days. While my wife and I could only make 9 days of passes because we have only 9 days of tickets attached to us (5-day ticket and 4 days left on the old 10-day no-expiration tickets). Not unexpected, but doesn't leave much flexibility as you pretty much have to plan your park days 6-18 months in advance (and I thought dining reservations were bad!)

So .. I am guessing ..on June 28th (when park reservations open up for ALL ticket holders), I won't be able to book ANY park days for 2020 since I don't have a 2020 resort reservation and my "maximum" park reservations are used up by the 2021 stays.

And even if I do get a resort reservation for 2020 eventually, I'll have to cancel some of my 2021 park day reservations to make them for 2020 (unless I buy an AP for the rest of my family or just buy more X-day tickets).

Long story short .. if things are looking "normal" in the fall/winter .. I may just get APs again for the whole family (unless they go up in price again) and look at 3 trips in 2021 .. and thus have the flexibility of picking park days for ALL my resort days .. even if I don't plan on going to park every day (and just cancel the non-park days once it gets closer to check-in).

yeah, I get the need to have some sort of limit but seems off when you would be better off now to have a dated 5 day ticket which saw the expiration of those dates extended out and basically become 5 individual day tickets than to have an AP that costs quite a bit more

Not sure what the exact right answer is but it feels really restrictive to paassholders

That said, days are filling up really fast for passholders and if they had 7 days instead of 3 I am sure they would fill up that much faster so maybe it makes sense to do it they way they are
