News Round Up 2020

Any idea what time on the 22nd the reservations will be open? My trip is not until November, but if I can't get the parks I want I'll cancel so going to try for first day booking. Working from home, so I can sit in a digital queue as long as needed, lol.
7AM EST

Off-site. Also have an out of state AP. How many out of state APs are going to travel there for just 3 days.

I know Disney still thinks they are invincible, but treating your most loyal customers like crap isn't a good business decision. Just like Royal Caribbean sitting on my suite refund for over 100 days. My diamond benefits aren't going to make me forget they used me as an interest free credit card, they have created lasting ill will. Disney is doing the same with their APs.
This is what happens when people in CA make the decision for FL. They SHOULD know that the AP makeup in FL is entirely different but they don't seem to either know or care.

We too are out of state AP and will be fine for this year but our trip next April is off site so if this doesn't change there will be a problem. At least before we got 7 days of FP but even with that could still enter a park without a FP.

After rereading everything, it does look like guests will be able to reserve park reservations for next year through September 2021, and it actually makes sense. How would people properly plan and schedule for their trip whether flying or driving, if they don't know if they can even get into a park?

I wonder, could you go to the opening then decide that, "you know what, this is too much hassle and trouble. We want the refund"?

I honestly think we're in this boat. Our original expiration is early August, and we have had this July trip on the books for a long time. With our DVC contracts we don't have anything coming in 2021 since we borrowed it all before the restrictions, so we get 2022 points which we can bank into 2023. Getting extended past Christmas between the closure and this restricted period doesn't really help us and really doesn't entice us to add an October trip and use the extension.

Us too, but forgetting about our individual situations, I could see getting an admission on say 7/17 to MK, thinking it is all too much of a hassle and then deciding you want to cancel and get a refund. Will they do it?

I'm pretty sure these decisions were made or at least heavily influenced by WDW's operations staff, who are usually based in FL...

I wonder if the AP would have to be activated?
also wondering about third party dated PH tickets... only vouchers right now, assuming they would be good until 9/2021 just like tickets purchased through WDW... but would we be able to get a discount based on cost difference of PH vs 1-park-per-day?

This wasn't done because they don't realize the difference between DL and WDW passholders. This was done to generate as much cash from their operations as possible from a very limited amount of people that can get into the parks. I really don't blame them for this either.

Well .. no park hoppers makes my choice of which tickets to use on my next trip easy enough. I have some 5-day non-hopper tickets I have bought ages ago and I have some old 10-day no expiration hopper tickets. No sense wasting those this year.

Just deciding when it will be "worth" going in general.

I bought an AP months ago (before all this) for my daughter for our June trip. The rest of us were going to use our other tickets we had (she wasn't born when we bought those old tickets). Now, the AP isn't really that much of a value for a while - since I can't really use her AP on a 5-day trip if an AP-holder can only reserve 3 days, so even if I do go in the fall/winter, I doubt I will activate it for that trip .. but I guess money is already spent. Disney isn't refunding unactivated APs due to this mess are they?

AP Info

Just got the AP email. Passholder preview on 7/9 & 7/10. Reservations for 3 days at a time. Extending AP's for one month beyond what would be included to replace the time the parks were closed. Refunds still an option.

Edit: Guessing it's behind one of the twitter links. Can't see those at work. :-/

The wording on the 2021 reservations is interesting:
By June 28, all guests will be able to purchase new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make their park reservations for arrivals starting in 2021 as our phased reopening continues.

So .. does that mean you can ONLY buy resort packages .. and with them come theme park tickets and resort reservations? I doubt that (since that would mean AP holders wouldn't be able to get resort reservations). Just weird how it is stated "packages" instead of resort reservations.

Just curious because I (probably like a lot of people) only get room-only reservations since I have existing tickets.

Anyone that's an expert on google alerts have any tips on how we should set ours up to make sure we don't miss the AP preview signup? I of course will just be refreshing here, but I can't do that 24/7. I can just see it happening during our 12 hour drive back this week.

@wareagle57 The email I got said a separate email would be coming with invitation details for the preview.

Yeah, Universal said the same thing and never announced a date but just sent out an e-mail AS it went live. I didn't get mine until about an hour after premiere passholders got to register. I was still able to get one after about an hour of trying and failing. I doubt Disney handles it the same way, but just trying to be prepared. Hopefully they send and email with the date and time and they don't just drop it at 2:37 pm on a Tuesday.
