News Round Up 2020

Call them, they’ve been working on a case by case basis with customers. They may help you out, they’ve been really good in general to people’s situations.
UT or Universal?

I have DLR tickets from UT, I know they'll refund, but I'd really like to just exchange them for 2020 tickets, then UT gets to keep my money and I can go next year.

CDC updates "no sail" order for cruises

Note, the headlines says "at least 100 days" but that doesn't match details:

The order will stay in place until:
- the Secretary of Health and Human Services no longer considers COVID-19 a public health emergency OR
- the CDC director rescinds or modifies the order OR
- 100 days pass

So to me reads more like, at most 100 days unless it's updated again

I'm sure it'll be modified one way or the other before 100 days. I still expect cruises to be the last thing to return. Speaking of I was supposed to be having a Sea day today :(.

The good thing about having my cruise cancelled, I don't have to be sad about it nearing it's end or pack up.

My cruise is currently scheduled fo July 20 which would be the day after this ends (assuming the 100 days starts today - I was confused if it started today or if it was a continuation of the previous 30 day order). We keep saying that we won’t cancel unless someone makes us and we keep being exceedingly lucky as dates are announced. I wonder how long that will last

Don't cancel unless you need the money, they will offer you extra credits to keep your money.

I was referring to Universal, but from my understanding UT has also been helping people out as well.

I'm very impressed with how long these companies are paying their employees. I remember in 2008/09 it was basically a competition on who could layoff the quickest.

Did I miss the memo on what Disney is doing? I thought they were all getting furloughed starting next week. Seems surprising that Universal would keep paying them but Disney won't, but I'm sure Universal has way fewer to pay.

Disney is furloughing starting after the 18th. Some union decisions haven’t been finalized but those likely will all end up the same as well. You also have to remember while yes universal does have fewer employees than Disney, universal is owned by Comcast which is still bringing in lots of money as a TV/Internet provider. This gives Comcast a bit of a deeper pocket than Disney right now.
