News Round Up 2020

As a result of the shutdown. Disney is cutting entertainment to curb costs.

Well, I mean, I kind of can't blame them if this goes on as long as everyone is wanting. It sucks, but no company can withstand an extended closure like they having with all the parks at once!

Today is the last day to soak up some Disney Magic for who knows how long. I’m heading to DHS for RotR and to try and get all my favorites in one last time. I’ll try to report any newsworthy happenings and how the crowds are.

Any predictions on if Disney might do something special to close down the Magic Kingdom tonight? It’s going to be so sad leaving.

On a positive note, I’ve never seen so many people in the parks restrooms actually washing their hands correctly. Maybe this will kickstart a new good habit for folks. Universal was also disinfecting their finger print scanners between every scan yesterday. I was surprised Disney was not doing the same when I was there Friday. I thought they’d turn them off all together.

Enjoy. Probably be a lot of locals there today trying to get one last day of fun in. I doubt Disney will do anything special to close down tonight. Have fun

Most times I visits, Uni wipes down the fingerprint scanner between each guest. To be very effective they'd have to wait 15 seconds between scans though, which they don't do (instructions on every disinfectant wipe container I've had say the surface must remain wet for 15 seconds to be effective).

DHS actually closes last tonight. Have fun and post pics if you see anything interesting.

It’s truly unfortunate but at the same time with the unknown of how long this closure is disney is going to likely lose billions by the end of this. Cuts are going to be made, and lots of them.
Disney will survive, but people need to understand this is going to hit them far worse at least for a time period than 2008 or even 9/11. To survive they will have to make some tough uncomfortable choices. The vast majority of Disney revenue stream aren’t just diminished, but they are gone. They have massive interest payments on debts from Iger’s buying spree and only $6.8 billion in cash reserves.

I don't think they will be hit longer than 9/11. Travel after 9/11 was terrible for years. I do think that people will be coming back, maybe not in droves, but large numbers, as soon as stuff seems to calm down. Money numbers-wise, I don't know if the impact will be worse than 9/11. I don't think so, due to the length of time that 9/11 affected stuff. Right now there are a lot more things that are getting hit; however, all public things, including movies, declined drastically for a while after 9/11.
