News Round Up 2020

We drove down from 11 p.m. until 10 a.m. through the night and the rest areas and roads were so quiet it was awesome.
Driving back up, traffic wasn't bad and we made it in 10 hours (I didn't pull over to nap for an hour) but less than half the people were wearing masks at the crowded rest areas.
I'm more concerned about having picked something up from the rest areas than from Disney.

P.S. Not having any symptoms. I'm just observing.

We are driving home,Texas, now. We stopped at a Subway in Walmart in the panhandle. I think that’s the place that will infect us, if it happens.

Maybe they can get Salt & Straw from Downtown Disney. If Disney does something on they own, it will just be worthless. I haven’t had good ice cream, other than dole whip, from any Disney run establishments.

It's beginning to feel like Disney is going to lose a lot of 3rd party partners over the next 6 months. I hope it doesn't take too terribly long to find new ones. Hard to feel the magic when you're walking past empty storefront after empty storefront.

Beaches & Cream expansion just finished, IIRC, so there's still an option on Crescent Lake.

And Dole Whip is non-dairy, so you can't really give them credit for that.

Well, great, now I'm more worried and hesitant again. At this point, we're leaning on the side of going to our trip in late August, and we've decided to drive instead of fly to avoid airport/plane/Magical Express, and we'd also use our car most likely to go to parks other than Magic Kingdom (staying at Copper Creek) to avoid the buses.

Without stops, it would be about a 14-hour-drive for us. I was already a little worried about the stopping part of it, but your comment about the rest areas now has me quite worried. Was that both ways, or were the rest stops quiet on your way down? What time did you travel coming back? My plan is to leave about 6:00 in the evening, and get down there about 10:00 am, with stops for food and bathroom breaks factored in.

new Florida Resident Disney Flex ticket option ... so guess they are looking for more non-passholders to come

It's insane they still have the tight limits on APs, especially platinum passes. The inability to schedule more than three days will more than likely get me to cancel my September trip. Especially on top of getting no compensation for the lack of water parks I paid extra for.

They should at least let APs book any remaining spots a couple days out, or have an afternoon option.

These look a lot like the pre-COVID Florida Resident Discover Disney tickets. My son had one, but I requested a refund, because the post-opening deadline to use all the days was 30 Sep 2020, and it was just too soon for us. If they had offered extended deadlines, I might have just kept it.
