News Round Up 2016

I'm feeling less and less positive about us getting to ride BTMRR on our trip. First the treehouse refurb gets extended, now this? Ugh...
While I wouldn't worry yet the extensions are good in my opinion because more work is being done to fix these rides to the quality that they should be at.

The disappointment continues at WDW. Now Dinosaur being down longer than expected again... ROL with no announcement still, half of DHS gone, MSEP going bye bye, BTMR etc.. When is going to end? How many major attractions are closed at WDW yet the price of admission remains the same.

It definitely sucks it is negatively impacting people's trips but I am glad they are putting the time in to really refurb some of these attractions

And DHS still has a ton to do, only a few attractions really are closed. We spent a full day there and didn't get to everything

People complain when attractions are in bad shape and then they complain when they are down for fixing. Disney can't win.

As much as I love to roll my eyes with the rest of the gang, the truth is that it's still worth the admission price for me. I know people say Disney is expensive (and it is) but I'm also planning Sonoma Valley, CA and Hawaii getaways and they are going to be just as expensive (if not more so) to fill our time with anywhere near the level of entertainment/enjoyment we get at Disney World, even under construction.

That said, hurry up with these refurbs! Can't wait to dislodge my kidney deposits again on BTMRR :teeth:

I do tend to agree with you.

I don't like the construction either but I can't say I expect a business to lower their prices even during construction.

Except there is no evidence that Disney are putting in further improvements to the ride

At the moment it's just another missed deadline if we're honest

Exactly.. Just like ROL... sometimes theres more going on than posted here, and with what I know, which is little, but somewhat substantial regarding the happenings of AK, some of these missed deadlines are just random stupidity. I still haven't read one of the main reasons as to why ROL has been delayed so that leads me to be very skeptical of what I read regarding other projects going on at WDW..

Fixing the ride to opening day quality isn't an improvement? You want thing to stay broken? Don't assume when you don't know whats being done.

Don't take this the wrong way but I would be very mindful of that concept yourself. Again, I'm not claiming to be in the know, but I do know people working on site of certain projects of interest at AK, and they let out very very very little info but what they let slip is a lot of frustration on their part... too many stupid mistakes and too many hands involved.

I don't doubt that but to complain about a refurbishment is not worth it in my opinion. Refurbishments happen and have to happen. You can't run an attraction at top quality without a break down or problems occurring at some point. Maybe during this refurb a much larger problem not originally known was found that needed to be fixed and that's why it was extended, we don't know at this point.

So what you're saying is the main issue for RoL wasn't the positioning system used for the floats on the water?

Film and TV

If you thought Disney didn't have enough movies for the next two decades already, here's good news: Disney is developing their own version of Don Quixote, the classic novel by Miguel Cervantes. Disney hired Billy Ray (Hunger Games, Captain Phillips) to produce and develop a script, and they pretend to give Quixote the Pirates of the Caribbean treatment as far as scope and tone goes.

Ours for the OCT 19th is still there as well. I am not going to switch it until I get notice but really disappointed another major attraction being closed for our trip.
Annnnnnd we're cancelled too. :( oh well. They scheduled us for PW for the same time.

News

Dinosaur refurb being extended until November 20th...
This is actually really really good news. Like really good. This means they're actually committed to real enhancements. This is seeming to be something along the lines of the excellent Pirates of the Caribbean Refurb of last year.

This also gives me hope for the yeti.
