News Round Up 2016

The problem with Zika isn't just getting bit, it's that if your partner gets bit he can sexual transmit it to you for up to 2-3 months after the initial infection. For any couple with the possibility of becoming pregnant within the next 6 months I have heard many doctors strongly discourage their patients from traveling to potential Zika areas.

Having said that, I've had more cancellations at work due to the hurricane than the Zika virus, but I have had cancellations. Hotels have had a 50/50 response to allowing free cancellation due to the virus.
6 month in sperm, actually. Am currently pregnant and the boards I'm on are consistently flooded with doctors instructing anyone who is pregnant to not go to FL (and other places), and also anyone who is trying, or not on birth control. I'm sure it's making a dent on the FL economy. We need a vaccine for it, and soon.

Great photos! Thanks!

Totally agree. I feel like they're better than a lot of the blog sites that do updates. Thanks from me as well, @jade1 .

Are these similar in capacity to the Poly Bungalows? This has probably been discussed already and I missed it. I haven't been paying much attention to these but now that I see the photos I'm really interested. They'll have to do some major gator blockage stuff on the backsides after what's happened.

First thing I thought of looking at those pics is that they will really ruin the view from some of those rooms in the background.

I don't think it's been said how many will be able to sleep in them but I would imagine it's the same as the bungalows.

They didn't care about that when they built the Poly bungalows, so I'm sure they don't care in regards to these.

What view? It used to be solid trees, you never could see the water from the villas. The 3 villas views were dumpster, trees, and pool.
Yes from the villas at WL but the regular rooms at WL could see parts of the water. Now they'll be looking at cabins and the dining pavilion.

From what I've read - they are going to be bigger than the Poly Bungalows. I can't remember where I read it, but I saw that they were expecting the cabins to be around 1,600 square feet, whereas the Poly cabins were only 1,100 square feet. There article didn't say if the cabins would be 3 bedroom though like a GV.

Judging from the photos--(thanks) they will be practically the same as the poly-- entry door is center rear, master is to the left, 2nd bedroom is to the right and protrudes rearward of the entry door with bath 2 between bed 2 and LR.-- side door out of the master, LR, DR, KIT across the front--(water end of the building) .
A little inset for a porch to the right of the living space-- hopefully an outdoor fire pit or something like that-- with a nice sized wrap around porch on the master bed side and water side. Maybe the porch is the part that makes them bigger...

I'm sure they'll try to give them a "woodsy" feel.

Since they've thinned those trees out on the right hand side people have had a view of water and could possibly see some MK. That said, losing the trees from "Wilderness Lodge" to see the new cabins would suck.
Right, but they thinned the trees for the cabins, so it can't really be argued that the cabins ruined the view. But yes, losing so many trees sucks. At least there will still be wooded views if they're wanted - I'd bet the "fireworks" (cabin) view will be more popular, though.
