News Round Up 2016

Are you buying this load of bunk, Pete?

I'm not as concerned with the purchase price...more the point charges in the half the old lodge that's gutted.

Gonna try to charge more there...are your eggs gonna taste better at whispering canyon if your toilet is newer and you have to walk 100 ft less?

You'd be amazed at how many people will pay more NOT to walk that extra 100 ft. Actually, maybe you wouldn't. (Egg quality may vary)

Well, since you'll be there, why not pick one up for me? :duck:
But seriously, while I understand that some things should be park specific, in this case, come on. You can ship the cups to WDW too. You know people eat that stuff up.
If you want one...PM me. I'm packing heavy and staying at DLH

Halloween party, wedding on the 29th...the whole she-bang

Wasn't the last cup WDW tried to do the Skipper Canteen mugs? They didn't go through with it because the logo that was on the copper mug came off in the dishwasher. Not sure if it was a sticker or what...but that's what our server slyly told us when we went a few months after it opened.

I haven't heard if they've figured it out or just cut their losses. Oh well v0v...I really wanted one though.

Yeah I think it was out for maybe a week, and then they pulled it because the label washed right off. These look a bit different tho, much like the cups Trader Sam's already has.

Am I buying it? No of course not. They aren't selling to me anyways. If I want more DVC points

You've heard me say that I wonder what will happen here. Disney has been getting away with ridiculous prices on DVC the last 5+ years because of the BLT/GF/Poly locations. I think they could have a really hard sell trying to sell Wilderness Lodge at the current price point. Of course, I can't believe that people still line up for some of the things that Disney does - so I'm not the right guy to make that call.

The only thing I would say is what in the world would be the point of shooting off fireworks from a drone. Fireworks charges are designed already to go off at specific heights (time delays - but still that's the effective results.) I could see wanting to use drones for an led light show or something, but as a firework launch.

Methinks this is just a case of wanting a patent to cover as broad a range of uses as possible, even if they have no intent to use it as such.

I could imagine steady 'waterfalls' of sparks coming from a contingent of drones or something like that - I don't think they would launch conventional fireworks from them. I agree with your observation that they want to cover their bases in terms of options available to them.

I think (hope?) we are about to see a real revolution in the night time shows utilizing some of this drone technology we keep hearing about. I'm excited to see what they can do with it.

Not just you.. especially any explosive projectile (e.g. fireworks). The back blast could potentially throw off the balance of the drone. Coupled with a random blast of wind could be quite a recipe for disaster.. just look at the mishap last week from the DHS fireworks that almost hit (or did hit?) a moving car. Car could have swerved in front of the bus.. lucky no one was hurt.

I imagine though they're just filing all these permits before someone beats them to it.. not necesarily going to use all or any of them, but using this as a business strategy to prevent the competition from using the ideas for a period of time... someone like Universal from doing something similar (imagine flying Dementors in Hogwarts during Halloween Horror Nights or something).

This...would...be...AMAZING! lol

Considering the "alledged" reason they're converting is because they couldn't sell wilderness at $350 a pop?

...yeah...that will be interesting sells. I expect lots of glossy "exclusive" deals coming to a mailbox near me

Complete guess on my part. Basically a drone with a sparkler could produce something akin to pixie dust. I can only think of movie opening graphic where pixie dust creates the image of tinkerbell.
