News Round Up 2016

"Spy Princess Elena of Avalor at Magic Kingdom Park"?? What does that even mean? Will they actually add a meet - or can you just view her from afar in the stage show?

Reason #13 - Shanghai. ;)
She will be available for a meet and greet.

Agreed!

I'm looking to tack a 2 night RO on the front end of our 10 day FD pkg in Dec and was expecting the regular 25% off for Mods. 15% is kind of a joke.

That's better than the no discount for my dates. We're there Nov 4 to 12 so missed the last offer and this one has blackout at the end of my week. We're fine with our rate at pop but I would prefer to save $ especially when it seems like most everyone else is. Oh well...

Well either I hope that it isn't true or the still go ahead woth the Mickey Mouse ride, I was/am really looking forward to it.

Me too. I can see it being such a great addition to DHS.

I don't know much about the history/culture of imagineering, but it seems strange to fire someone who is in charge of a major E-ticket that's allegedly green-lighted or in the final stages of being green-lighted.

I could be wrong, but it seems like this imagineering lay-off story is being spun into something it's not.

I was in Shanghai DL last week and wait times for rides were long - fast passes were gone for the most part by noon. I didn't see any signs they are struggling. Maybe the two hotels there are - both were very quiet when we were there and we were able to get in for a character breakfast at SDL Hotel just by showing up. There were only maybe 6 other families in there. LOVED both hotels especially the SDL Hotel! Pirates was unfortunately down the entire day so we didn't get to ride it.

I love seeing your first-hand report, thanks! I'm sorry you didn't get to see Pirates - I would be distraught too. I hope you still had a great time. :)

Yeah, I was super bummed since we only had one park day. We did talk to another "westerner" who said he and his wife had been there three days and it was closed for all of them. He said his wife was pretty upset. I did hear that is was reopened in time for the weekend. Hard to hear everyone saying how it's the best ride in the world and we didn't get to experience it! The night time show was really good though and we thoroughly enjoyed the new Tron ride! Bought the photo for it since it was pretty hilarious. :)

Shanghai is already beginning an expansion. (My guess is it's the toy story land that was partially constructed during the original construction but never finished)

Occupancy is at 95% and people are staying longer than expected.

Filming on episode 8 has finished and just started on episode 9.

things are slower on both coast for a variety of reasons. in florida it has to do with strong dollar and bad economy in latin america. also zika has put a damper on florida travel. but one of the main reasons that have been heard is people waiting for the new stuff. They are postponing until 2017-2018 to enjoy all the new attractions. In ca , raising the cost of Ap's seems to have done the trick and also with the 60th winding down and nothing in the pipeline for a couple of years and half DL down, again people are waiting. when star wars land opens, crowds will show up again. but really in California they can go back to the days when night parades were seasonal as well as fireworks. also the holiday season is coming up in both parks and they used to not do night parades except the special ones for the holidays. and DL did soundsational twice a day when the parks were open late or did the holiday parade twice during christmas.

If this is the case, just think where the pricing is going to go when "the new stuff" opens.......

This is an OSHA violation and a toe board MUST be installed. Even if the Disney Lawyers use the its a boat not a platform argument well, it would be cheaper for Disney just to install it.

Here is a diagram of what I am talking about.

Does this actually apply? I know it does for construction based scaffolding, but isn't set construction/ design and SAG or Equity under a different set of rules?

I'm going to need a fairly detailed summary of this event. Sounds like it could spark some really interesting debates.
