News Round Up 2016

I think your locals of DLR will be sad about losing PTN but I think they would not be upset about MSEP coming back.

At least until they discover the current state of MSEP. I'm sorry, but that parade is ready to retire gracefully before it starts leaving nuts and bolts behind. I'm with Ryan here. They should give its own parade to WDW.

i bet paint the night goes seasonal and everythng is closing sept 5 or near that because it's officially the end of the 60th and time to get ready for holidays. even the world of color show is changing. execs in anaheim know that attendance probably won't start picking up till next summer when rivers of america and the trains reopen and they have a new fantasmic and the guardians layover. So it makes no sense to spend extra cash on night parade when attendance will still be down

Spirited tidbits

Summer was very slow for WDW.

PTN is stopping at DL and HKDL to go seasonal to cut costs. Same reason MSEP is likely to stop is to cut costs.

Disney earnings report comes out tomorrow!

Lots of discounts coming.

The imagineer that was supposedly leading the Mickey into GMR ride was one of the imagineers let go.

Shanghai is struggling.

Avatar is planned for fall 2017 internally.

Well, the late fall discount they just released stinks, so pardon me if I take a rather pessimistic view of that particular rumor.

We just got back Sunday. I would have to say that, aside from MK which was nuts both days we were there, it did not seem like peak summer crowds in the parks in general nor at the resort quick serves (Mara and Contemo Cafe). Future World seemed pretty quiet (did not do WOrld Showcase). DHS seemed pretty empty, except for the fireworks (it did rain off and on that day). AK and Blizzard Beach were both busy but manageable. For comparison US and IoA seemed busier than AK, but not quite as bad as MK (we did have Express Pass though, so it could've been busier than we noticed).

Not liking the idea that the MSEP could go seasonal ... further down that slippery slope is it gets retired and not replaced at all.

As for discounts, we had fliers in our villas at both Kidani and Bay Lake about great rates being available if we wanted to extend our stay a night. We're DVC, and since we couldn't stay longer and I'm pretty sure it was for cash stays only, I didn't call for details. Think it was available through August 20 th and we arrived July 28th.

So all the movie guys. What are the chances this will be in the AMC Theatre in the Disney Springs on the weekend Sept 17th still? How long do Disney movies run close to WDW?

They still have The BFG and Finding Dory which came out 38 and 52 days ago respectively

I would guess it will still be showing, but the the selection of show times will definitely depend on how well it does. Dory still has a good number of showings, but BFG is down to one or two

We were at Universal and WDW between 7/20 and 7/27. I would say the same thing about the crowds at both. Universal was busier than our March trip, and WDW was less busy than March.

I love MSEP. If it were replaced by something worthy, like Paint the Night, I would be fine. However, with PTN shutting down, even temporarily, I don't think WDW will get anything better. I also fear it will go away completely:( I think that means only 1 fireworks show a night too.

If things aren't going well at Burbank, why on Earth do they keep making so many bad decisions? Whatever their long-term plan is, they have to seriously re-think the way they are making decisions these days.
