News Round Up 2016

As I stated in my original post:

These things tend to follow a very familiar line with rumors:
Rumor is that Disneyland is being replaced with Star Wars - what are they thinking!!!
Well, OK, Disneyland is being half replaced with Star Wars
Ok, there are lands being replaced by Star Wars
Ok, well maybe just a petting zoo and Toon Town
Ok, well just the petting zoo
Hmmm, thats interesting, they put in Star Wars without destroying the rest of Disneyland and did it in a nice tasteful way.

I'm pretty sure that the entire fireworks show will not become Star Wars. Why? Because, it alienates a large portion of the customers, it doesn't fit the castle theme, and it doesn't make any logical sense. Will there be a "Season of the Force" type event for a couple months? Maybe. Will it be 50% of the fireworks show? Maybe. But... again... I highly doubt Tinkerbell will be replaced with Boba Fett flying from the castle and Dumbo will be replaced with the Millennium Falcon flying around the Matterhorn. (Wait.. now that I wrote that I WANT to see both of those! ;) )
The rumor is that the fireworks show will be all Star Wars and have elements similar to the DHS show.

I've updated my "standard Disney rumor" template to fit the current discussion. :D

Rumor is that Fireworks is being replaced with Star Wars - what are they thinking!!!
Well, OK, Fireworks is being half replaced with Star Wars
Ok, only some parts are being replaced by Star Wars
Ok, well maybe just a portion
Ok, well just a single part is going to be Star Wars
Hmmm, thats interesting, they put in Star Wars without destroying the rest of the Fireworks and did it in a nice tasteful way.

Look I get it but I can see them doing a Star Wars only show. While it's not something they should do I can see them doing it. This rumor comes from the source that got guardians in ToT right.

I know you didn't make the rumor - you just report. I'm just clarifying my point. I can see it happening as a temporary overlay. I can see them incorporating Star Wars. I can even see them alternating nights with different shows. I think this is one of those rumors that is true in the sense its out there and being discussed and seriously considered, but will come back to earth before being launched. They need to capitalize on Star Wars Land and the movies. It is a hugely popular franchise. They don't have a park (Hollywood Studios) to do it in. They could have used DCA, but it is tight and they already have plans to use another popular franchise. For those reasons, it WILL (and obviously) has been proposed to do this.

Cooler heads will prevail and find the right way to do this. Temporary overall? Maybe? Incorporate Star Wars as a major component in the nightly shows? Definitely. Replace the fireworks as the standard show for the next 10-15 years with a Star Wars only show? Not going to happen.

It's a rumor and none of these rumors have ver been completely right from the start. So he got one thing right. Jim hill has caught a fish every blue moon, but he is far from a reliable source. Even insiders have said that. So just cause someone got something right once doesn't mean he is now reliable. They seem to be related to weatherman ok to discuss it, but if you believe it is happening...well your blood pressure will go up quite a bit with all the false rumors out from supposed reliable sources

Spirit isn't reliable? since when? He is definitely better than Jim Hill and I'd argue he is one of the best Disney sources out there next to Martin.

Why not just have Star Wars Fireworks at DCA and leave DL with traditional Disney? I suppose because the Land is at DL.

Wdwthemeparks.com tracks rumors and where they originate from

Spirit(wdw1974):
Guardians
Frozen meet and greet (Royal sommerhus)
Toy story land
Tiered ticket pricing
Wilderness lodge DVC

Jim hill:
Frozen in maelstrom
Frozen sing along in American idol theater
Tree of life awakenings

Spirit has been wrong quite a bit too. He is also one of the most negative insiders I have ever seen. And he is great at manipulating what he says to make it sound like he was right when it isn't always. I don't feel as confident about him as you. I have seen things he was way off on

Lately the insiders like Martin have even disagreed with him on things. Drastically on a few. They try to not disagree with each other but of late they have even said things he has said is not what they are hearing (for example how long behind Star Wars Dhs is after Disney land. They said they have heard nothing of what spirit said and have heard quite the opposity

That and DCA has the incredibly popular world of color.

Ah yes, that was/is really good.

I guess with fewer theme parks these things happen. Unlike at WDW.

Sure the attractions are fewer per park at WDW, but makes other options much easier.

I will take extra half day parks (esp since they are growing/adding, and have more room to grow) any day to alleviate this kind of mess.

Spirit is quite negative but is some respects he has every right to be upset and negative. Not every insider is going to be right all the time and as we all should know Disney changes things all the time. Even things that are announced get changed. Hyperion wharf was supposed to come to DTD but then it became Disney springs. Mine train wasn't in the plans for fantasyland originally but was added in. Carsland was at one point ready to be announced for DHS but didn't happen.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Yes I would give a lot of weight to what is said by them but I also do not even read the Spirited thread anymore,Or visit that site for that matter, because of his twisting of wording and there is way too much chest puffing and pontificating for my taste over there.

Spirit is very reliable - but many things he reports don't come to pass. He reported that the GotG overlay in DHS was very likely happening, and then he reported that it was NOT likely happening. It didn't mean the first thing was untrue at the time, but it DID turn out to be wrong in the end.

Just saying just because it comes from a reliable source does not make it fact nor a certainty. I am sure there have been discussions about a Star Wars fireworks show. In the end I think it is unlikely to be a long-term decision, because while Star Wars appeals to many, it doesn't appeal to ALL - and they are unlikely to put a "permanent" replacement for the fireworks that doesn't interest a significant portion of the guests.

Understandable but things change with disney. Spirit himself will say that and he said that plans changed for DHS ToT but even recently said it could end up happening if the epcot plans don't go through.

things at disney are very fluid when it comes to attractions and layovers. Until something is officially announced, it's rumored information and even then as we have seen things change. Frankly until the attraction opens, things are changeable.
