News Round Up 2016

My "casual" means not having a passport every year, not owning DVC, and just going on a trip every so often (every other year fits) and using that trip to "casually" tour the park, not spend every minute of every trip going 100 mph. I don't own stock. I don't own DVC. I have only bought an annual pass once before (buying one soon because I have never been to wine and dine and we are taking my granddaughter next May). I have one Mickey shirt (it says my favorite Disney Princess is my Granddaughter) and I got it for Christmas. Yes, I love my trips but I say I love them casually because they are slow paced.

To me, your definition of casual above is my definition of a newbie or a rarity. Newbie's usually are not on here. Disney fans like me are on here quite a bit.

Sorry...you're too casual for me ;)

And I own no Disney clothing...other than the old line of hotel specific stuff (like my completely faded old key west baseball/kayak hat circa 2003)...I do like that stuff.

Bought Disney stock at $12.60 on employee rate in 2002...Never pay attention to it.

And yet...I want Iger gone and stock price sacrificed for an increase in quality across all business units.

I'll "pay" for it gladly.

I suppose we do...

"Casual" to me is once every five years and a trip to pick up birnbaums at Barnes and noble...

And comments like "we want two days in Disney...one in Epcot...one in in animal kingdom..."

Not trolling boards about whether port Orleans will be included in free dining this year or what the 2018 package pricing will be ;)

I too, would NOT call that a casual fan. While I think there may be a few casual fans on these boards, most of those are not on these threads. You are not casual my friend. My family would be considered 10 times more casual than you. LOL definition would fit my family, and quite a bit more people. It definitely wouldn't fit me. I would say there is more than two levels then just "Casual" and "Not Casual". You may not be the most enthusiastic Disney vacationer, but you are definitely not a casual one either.

WDW returns crocodile jokes to the jungle cruise but removes crocs from the Living with the Land Cruise?

Could be a typical re-furb. That happens quite a bit. Glad to see the jokes are back. Eventually all will go back to somewhat normal, and there will still be a select few that cry foul. Time to let this be. It's click bait at this point. Someone once to make a story out of nothing cause they don't have anything else they can find.

They took the gators/crocs out of the land, huh?

Ridiculous...we can't acknowledge their existence now, huh?

If that ride (and i truly love it) didn't jump the shark when they put the recording on...it did now.

Wait...am I allowed to reference sharks?

They had an attack at cocoa once...lets go into the living seas and Spear them as to not offend anyone!!!

This is gutless

Well, we can and will have different views on what Casual means. You can have yours, and I can have mine. :tigger:

Lmao!!!
Me too...I can't get that anywhere in New Jersey ::yes::
I am always amazed how many places don't have shaved ice...or better Sno-balls. Just had a great sno-ball yesterday. I tell the owner they should move south and they would make a killing. Then again, they have constant lines all the time. If you want no line, you better go when it's raining...and they are situated in the country!

Just to be clear...I was kidding.

There's "Italian water ice" on every corner here...worse than Starbucks in Manhattan

News

Frozen Forever a new castle show to open at Tokyo Disneyland in January 2017. Arendale port in Tokyo DisneySea delayed until 2021 at the earliest.

http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2016/07/tokyo-disney-resort-announces-new.html

I read that Tokyo is very serious about increasing their numbers by 10% during the next few years while also improving capacity issues at the resort. Apparently their main issue with this delay is the lack of space around the parks.

Not long ago I read an interesting article about the possibility of Tokyo opening a third gate by purchasing land somewhere near the resort (like Universal is doing). I wonder if that'd be an option for the Oriental. I think they've been craving a third gate for quite a while.

Makes sense...the place has been packed everyday...

And unlike China...they Have a Disney culture

There is actually a lot of places that don't have it. And there is a difference between Italian Water Ice, sno-balls and shaved ice. We have all three. I am pretty sure NJ may not have Sno-balls or true shaved ice....just Italian ice. It's very rare in fact. Everybody thinks they have it, but typically they don't. And a sno cone is neither of these.

I'm sure we each have our own definition - but yeah many on here are not casual and I guess I wouldn't consider myself one, but I know many people that go much more than we do. I've also only ever owned an AP once, and essentially go to WDW once per year. I will admit to owning more Disney shirts than I can wear in a week at the parks, but our house isn't excessively Disney decorated. (OK - the spare bedroom has a bedsheet from Pop Century (which we bought - not stole) - so maybe a little excessively.)

I guess I think of more a "casual" fan as being someone that goes - maybe even once every year - but isn't really "aware" of Disney. Doesn't really pay attention to what new is opening. Doesn't really care. I have a lot of friends like this. A "casual" trip is something else - and agree with what you say there! Our trips have become more "casual" (by your definition) over time. I think this is the advantage of going frequently, you don't feel the need to see as much as possible.

I guess I'm "casual" too...I hardly do a damn thing there if I can help it ;)

I do find this amusing. The most unobtrusive use of crocodiles on a ride - and they remove them? Might just be some sort of maintenance.

"Ginger Snaps" is one of my top 10 favorite JC jokes, right up with "You think it's water but it'snot" so glad to see it's back. I would really miss Smiley and Ginger.

I had totally even forgot about the animatronic crocodiles in Living with the Land ... when I first read the headline I thought they were referring to the real live baby gators they have in the section with the fish in the glass tubes
