News Round Up 2016

Disney posted something on their Instagram about an announcement from Walt Disney Animation Studios... does anyone know what this is in reference to?

I guess they're announcing the other film that will be released in 2018 along with Gigantic. Curious though. Usually they don't make a big deal about it unless they're announcing something at D23.

Okay, is it me or does it look like nothing is anywhere near done except for all the stupid rock work?

Well, Shanghai Disneyland looked like a pile of dirt with a huge castle in the middle earlier this year.

Carsland was pretty similar to this in terms of how that construction went. Rock work is really what takes the longest and it one of the most expensive pieces of the puzzle. I think we will see a summer to fall 2017 opening.

Jeez, I hope its by early Fall 2017 at the latest! I just booked a late-September 2017 trip to WDW anticipating that Pandora would be done by Earth Day (or at least before my trip).

Excited to hear more rumblings that Disney hasn't completely given up on the Muppets.

Disney has given up on the Muppets? If so why are they adding the Muppets to Liberty Square, and a Muppets restaurant to DHS?

Ok, so I am looking into the Star Wars Half Marathon - The Dark Side on April 20-23, 2017. Unofficial websites say registration is 8/9/16 but the official rundisney website doesn't list a date for the registration. Is 8/9 the official registration for the event?

lol not people making a business within the business. Those are just common thing they'll have to work with when dealing with the Chinese. They'll just have to be a lot more strict regarding etiquette and just overall behavior at the parks. They knew the Chinese held no expectations regarding what a Disney theme park should be like, now they must find ways to educate their guests.

Shanghai was a long-term investment, I guess.

That should be the registration date. I know RunDisney has been weird with dates on their website lately.

So somehow I missed the newest "Muppets to Liberty Square" rumor. I think the idea is pretty cool - and I am all for more muppets everywhere.

WDWNT also seems to be saying that GotG ride was rumored to be Mission: Space - which I also somehow missed on here. Kinda hate this idea because it's just another brink in the destructiveness of the cohesion of Epcot as an semi-education park, but understand it as well. At least a better idea than the ToT overlay, which is bloody terrible.

Thanks, I just don't want to miss the initial date. I am going to do the Dark Side challenge and know that they fill up very quickly.

Animation Studios announcement on FB Live is:

Wreck it Ralph 2!!

ETA: March 9, 2018 release.

Interesting. I thought it wouldn't be released until 2020 or something. John C. Reilly kinda ruined the surprise months ago, but still exciting. I loved the first Wreck it Ralph.

Hopefully they'll release one original movie and one sequel per year after Gigantic+Reck-it-Ralph2, especially now that they have strong properties to develop as sequels.

Everything I've heard leads me to believe WDWNT is wrong here.

Yay!

Just watching the clip now....

Do you know what happens in the movie?
John C. Reilly: Of course
Can you tell the folks about it?
John C. Reilly: It's top secret but I'll tell you this much
(laughs)
John C. Reilly: Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the internet.

That was pretty funny since he accidentally already leaked the info on a sequel :joker:

Also the title really needs to be Super Wreck-It Ralph

They did specifically reference that at least a few times in the "official" announcement. It was quite fun/silly (until it broke) :)
