New experiences for this years food and wine festival

We are psyched about getting there for Food and Wine this year - but most of these events just end up being too rich for our wallet. I doubt this group will be any different - as I would expect them to be in the $125-$200 per person price range.

Actually the best parts of new events like these is DW and I play "Guess the price". I read a description of the event, and she guesses how much Disney is charging. We do this to decide whether it's a normal rip-off, or a spectacular rip-off.

Gotta give DisneyFoodBlog some credit - they already got the prices up on those new experiences. I wasn't far off - $99 to $269 per head.

I really like the idea of the Trader Sam's one, and it's available during the time I'm there...But I don't know if $200 is crazy for 2 people for 2 hrs... I know what @lockedoutlogic would say lol.

Actually - that's one of the few I would consider. You basically get into Trader Sam's when it's closed. If you consider that you probably get to mix AND drink at least 3 trader sam's drinks, you are probably getting $50 worth of drinks as well. Wonder if they let you leave with a souvenir glass. That is one that would fall under the "regular rip-off" category. Unfortunately we won't be there for it.

I wouldn't reject it outright...you are still paying them $50 to sit on a stool that DVC bungalow occupants paid for

I guess if you had $200 invested in it - you WOULD probably make the trip.

I understand the tie-in with the Food & Wine festival, but I think this would be a popular tour year round. I would be willing to do it just to get into an uncrowded Trader Sam's and see all of the magic...and I don't even drink!

I guess if you had $200 invested in it - you WOULD probably make the trip.

I would sure as hell hope so! If I'm throwing down that kind of money, you bet I'll be there lol.

Some of the lunches aren't that bad. I did the Mexico Tequila lunch a few years ago and it was awesome - one the best things I've ever done at Disney. It was $75 at the time and I think this year it is $85

I saw they are having some Parisian Breakfasts which sound pretty nice and are only $40. The Trader Sam's one is $99

So there are some things for a little cheaper - but obviously not "cheap"

seriously - they were doing that Extra Magic Hours for getting into the Magic Kingdom early ... why not Extra Drinking Hours for getting into Trader Sam's early?!?!?

I noticed that there are now numerous fall discounts available for the GF since the alligator incident. You can now book a garden view room for $450/night instead of $609/night. Rooms will probably sell out fast at that price!!!

I noticed there are now numerous discounts for the Fall room only offer for late October dates. Many rooms at Port Orleans Riverside are discounted by $50 to $60 per night. Even rooms at the Yacht Club are coming up at $110 per night discount which is during the Epcot Food & Wine Festival!

In general, I think Finding Dory will be the #1 domestic box office movie for 2016 before the holiday season hits. $420-440MM is an estimate. Internationally, $1B seems very possible. It has yet to have been released in Japan, United Kingdom, and Germany, which are huge markets for at least Pixar animated movies. I am beginning to wonder if has been fully released in France because their numbers are fairly low.

As for this weekend, I think Dory will still have a strong standing. I don't think it will be #1 domestically for the weekend. IMO, my guess for this weekend will be:

1. BFG - $65MM
2. Legend of Tarzan - $50MM
3. Finding Dory - $40MM
4. Purge: Election Year - $35MM
5. Indepedence Day : Resurgence - $25MM

That's really optimistic, except maybe for the holdovers...most sites thinks the 3 new movies will all open $10-$20M less than you posted...
