News Round Up 2016

Is it me, or does the orange wall in Norway look more muted now? Maybe it's just the time of day.

I noticed that too - it also looks a little more "worn in" ... wondering if they added some "fake aging" so it matches more of the rest of the pavilion and that also had the effect of muting it a bit

I think it's the roof! It used to be white and now it's gray. That makes it all come together much better, imo.

EDIT: Okay, I think it was always gray, but the first picture(s) I saw made it look white from the sun reflection. http://www.laughingplace.com/w/articles/2016/06/06/epcot-update-less-flowers-soarin/

When the sun isn't glaring it's easy to see the true color. The gray does look better, but I guess maybe that isn't the change you're seeing. Oops.

There is video of Disneyland Shanghai's Roaring Rapids and sadly it looks disappointing. I'm surprised they were testing the ride since the creature looks unfinished. His chest is entirely open with some mechanism sticking out of it. I'm assuming he is supposed to lunge or attack the boat but was stuck in a maintenance position at the time of the video. I hope this creature isn't the Yeti all over again.

Yep I posted this earlier. What I've heard is right now they are only testing capacity with CMs being able to ride. The creature has not been working hence the exposed mechanics. This is one of the rides that might not be ready for opening day.

I really have nothing of value to add to this discussion. However, I will chime in that (1) we own a copy of Avatar that we got with our 3D Blu-Ray player and have never even opened it. I think we got the player in 2010 or so; and (2) my daughter is 9 and declared that she likes Universal better than Disney. We also have a 6 year old who is begging to go back to Disney, and my daughter even said I could take her brother alone this summer because she'd rather spend a week at camp than go back to Disney again. Which makes me a little sad considering the fun memories we have there. But she's way more into Harry Potter than she was ever into princesses, so I can see why she's rather spend her time in Diagon Alley than Fantasyland. At this point, I'm just glad that Orlando offers both options for families like ours.

Last 2 page summary:

eXo : Avatar was only good because it was 3D
twebber55: Ok. 3 billion is pretty good regardless of the reason.

Moving along......

If your gonna TL/DR my posts, then at least sum them up correctly. At no time did I say it was only good because it was in 3D. I actually just posted a multi paragraph post specifically pointing out that this was not what I was saying.

Second, if you don't like the discussion then don't read my posts. Other people have been discussing the topic as well. Avatar is relevant to AK. A spirited discussion about what defines avatar is par for the course around here.

I appreciate the few thrill rides Disney does have since we have kids from 16-8 going this Nov/Dec. I know my ds15 would love all the rides at Uni but it sounds like there wouldn't be much for the 8- and 9-year-olds to enjoy since they are still a bit skittish around the bigger rides at wdw. I'm glad there's just enough at wdw to keep the teens satisfied for now. This will be our last trip until after SW opens, I think.

I'm not sure that's true. My 10 year olds (at the time) enjoyed Universal. They loved Simpsons, Minions, Harry Potter, Transformers etc. They didn't do the roller coasters mind you, but then neither did I.

plus I saw a video recently (also about dissuading people from buying "Dory" fish) in that those type of fish don't breed in captivity so they have to be caught in the wild

well, captive breeding tangs is now possible. But I don't think it is done on a truly large commercial scale to meet demand if the home aquarium market went crazy like it did for clown fish a decade ago.

Didn't say it wasn't par for the course.

Just progressing the stale mate.

If you don't like my response don't quote it.......

WTH???

If Avatar was in 3D, and a 4D movie adds motion, what will AK Pandora be in? That's what I am looking forward to.
