News Round Up 2016

I am crossing my fingers that there will be scents in the new one! Still trying to figure out what the Great Wall smells like

They definitely won't get rid of the scents. Believe it or not, that is one of the more impressive technological feats of Soarin'. Not the scents themselves, but the way that they would manage to disperse them during the scenes (pine, orange, beach) and then most impressively make the scent go away almost immediately. They may possibly change the smells, but they definitely will use them. I just always loved the orange one, so I hope they find a way to keep it.

Also, I keep meaning to ask (I don't know if I have ever seen it discussed before), but has there ever been talk about Disney/Pixar ever doing an HD remake/remaster of, say, Toy Story? This type of thing seems quite frequent in the Video Game world and with live-action movies (getting re-mastered), but I don't think I have heard of it being applied to old CG pictures. I wonder if there would be a market for movies (like Toy Story) to be re-released with all the same audio and all new graphics.

Toy Story exists as a file. Six or seven years ago they went back to that file and did a 3D output for the theatrical re-release. Theatrical is greater than HD. They've also released in HD on blu-ray. What they are very unlikely to do is go back and make significant tweaks to what is already a classic film and the very foundation for the studio. Although they've made tremendous strides in animation since then, the Toy Story you see today will be the same Toy Story you'll see in 20 years.

Well, Disney has re-mastered quite a lot of their classic animated films, going as far as re-painting some animation cels in films like Cinderella, but I think that's a very different case to CG animation. I'd say a few tweaks here and there are not out of the question, but I don't think they'll ever remake the film.

YAWN!

Do people actually stop to watch these things? I get that it's nice to sit in a cool theater, but the last thing I really want to do is sit down and watch a movie trailer. I'd rather do just about anything else.

The "One Man's Dream" movie was awesome. Bring it back please or knock the theater down.

We do. We like to build the enthusiasm for the various films; for example, I went with my child into a "Guardians of the Galaxy" preview thinking it was going to be stupid, but it was wonderful and I ended up really enjoying the movie when I finally saw it.

Also: place to sit, air conditioning.

I don't mind the previews, but I also second the desire to watch One Man's Dream again. I have only seen it once. Maybe they could alternate One Man's Dream / Preview throughout the day so that you could sit and watch either one or both.

We watch it at least once every trip. The walk through the mini-museum and then that archival footage makes for a memorable experience.

Dangit! We are going in February 2017 for our first Uni trip, and I was going to get a pass to use across two trips (Feb 2017 & 2018). Last AP raise was August 2015, so I was thinking I could pick it up before any price increase. Looks like non-Florida resident Power Pass went from $235 to $259 - $24 rise. Curse you Universal!

It's still a really deal, especially if you consider the AP hotel discounts.

Oh my gosh, the Kylo one is so cute! Must own all the Tsums Tsums!

If you like Tsums Tsums, you should check out the Itty Bitties from Hallmark. I like their Star Wars dolls better than Tsums Tsums, but I get all of them anyway:)

Never heard of them, I'll have to check those out.

I am not belittling anyone's hobbies or collections, but could somebody honestly tell me basically what a tsum tsum is, what you do with it, and what is the general appeal of them? I'm honestly curious. Is this the new pin/vinylmation/ overall collectible souvenir for WDW?

I guess. DS and I like stuffed animals. We have only collected some Pooh and all of the Star Wars Tsum Tsums. They are small enough to have some on my desk at work to play with. I think there's an app to go with them, but I have never bothered with it.
