Interesting. It was a ride Walt wanted in Disneyland. He first wanted to use real animals but that couldn't work of course so they went with the animatronics.

I have no real sentimental attachment to Walt's original rides and I suspect he wouldn't either. Small World, Carousel of Progress and Jungle Cruise should all either get massive updates or be replaced.

Jungle Cruise is particularly hurt by the fact that you can now compare it to the Animal Kingdom safari attraction.

The only one I can agree with is carousel of progress. That ride should be updated. Small world is that ride that everyone going to Disney knows about. While some may dislike the song I think there would be mass riots if that ride was significantly changed or went away. Disneyland folks wasn't even very fond when they added Disney character dolls to the ride.

Small World presents so many opportunities for improvement though. I think it would benefit from new lighting, next generation effects, some new show scenes, and a top to bottom cleaning/replacement of props in order to make it look great. It looks its age. I love the attraction but it needs work. Even just better upkeep would be great. Peeling paint and mold is not cool.

Edit: Though that brings to mind Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, WDW RailRoad, Rivers of America, Winnie the Pooh, etc.

I definitely agree about the cleaning and replacements. WDW doesn't seem to get those like DL. I would also welcome new affects as long as it makes the experience better not taking away from it. All WDW attractions could really use better upkeep.

Since you've recently said you disliked Laugh Floor and now Jungle Cruise, I get the feeling that these are just not in your wheel house. It's also entirely possible with only 2 rides you just haven't gotten a good skipper, which is highly dependent on whether I enjoy my ride or not. When it's good, I think it's one of the best rides in the park. I like to imagine it was originally created to be a serious ride where people marveled at the animatronics, and over time they adapted to make fun of it's self and how lame it is, even if that's not true.

I think you're missing the point of the Jungle Cruise. While Walt may have originally intended it to simulate an actual Jungle, it's been past that for 30 years. The fun of the jungle cruise is the TERRIBLE jokes. That said, the right skipper makes ALL the difference.

Edit: Actually a newer joke the last few years is "Has anyone here seen the Jungle Book? It's right over there" (Skipper points at a book laying on a box.)

I kind of feel that way about Peter Pan Flight. Besides the transportation system, I really think that's one of those rides that really shows its age and that could really use some plussing. I haven't seen the refurbished version from DL, but it could definitely use some more drastic changes.

They should add something from the newer versions of the rides into the classic version. Use the projection mapping inside the temple segment of Tokyo's Jungle Cruise, or the volcano scene (or whatever that is) from Hong Kong, and you have something exciting and new to look forward to. But then again, I'm not exactly a purist that wants everything to remain ''classic''

Yes the corny jokes are what makes the ride really.

They used projection mapping for Tink in Peter Pan at Disneyland.

I feel anything that was at the World's Fair needs to stay in some form

Though, having just ridden the version in Disneyland for the first time I actually liked the addition of the Disney characters - they were done in a style that real fit

I think the carousel of progress final scene should really be updated though. It was always meant to be updated as time went on.

Yep it looks like Star Wars is officially going into LMA. Also if you read what Mansion said this move puts Star Wars in DHS only 4 months behind Disneylands. I'm interested to see if spirit comes back to say anything.

Updated definitely - I think they all need to be better maintained and updated when needed. Just don't want to see them scrapped completely

I am a Jungle Cruise fan also!!! I am not against updating any or remodeling a bit , but I for one miss the HAT at DHS, and the LMA will be a loss to my grandson who LOVED it !! Back lot tour was my daughters favorite !! She loved the area with the props !!
