News Round Up 2016

That's a square wheel...so the first 3 hours will be booked solid and then it will be a whine fest there after?

There's only one way to to make fastpass "better"...
...get a hell of a lot more construction equipment over there and in all parks/areas.

Or are we talking "dynamic flow"? Which means that you can enter anyline at anytime?
What's stopping me from going on rockinroller coaster 3x in a row? Or safaris? Or space?

Not everyone goes to the park at the open and people take breaks at different times. Also, she didn't say tiers were going away, just that now when you pick your three, instead of giving you the A, B, C, D package time choices, you'll get to pick from all available times right then instead of booking the package and having to go back in to modify each to what time you really wanted.

But that's too sunny side up/oversimplifying...

Having just been there...I have zero confidence that people will "self regulate", "spread out" naturally, or give Disney blind luck.

This will lead to more "gaming" of the system...places like here or undercover tourist or wdw Magic will have tons of "advice" or "insider tips" on how to steamroll your fellow travelers

Don't think this is an answer to anything at all.

I guess I don't see what's different...the ones reading the blogs already know how to go in and modify the times to what they want. Those that didn't accepted what they got. This will just put everyone on an equal footing of being able to pick from whatever is available when they pick.

This is from Deadline
"The word strong is an understatement when talking about the fifth weekend hold for Disney’s Zootopia which is at amazing -14% for a projected FSS of $20.7M. Domestic by Sunday will be at $276.6M. Zootopia‘s percent decline isn’t that far from Frozen‘s -13% at the same point in time, and its running 44% ahead of that princess musical."
Impressive but not surprising based on the quality of the film.
we saw it on Friday...LOVED IT!!

That's one really weird configuration for a central hub. I've always thought that the basic central hub with radiating lands concept was perfect for a theme park, but I guess that doesn't work that well for the Chinese.

The place looks massive. Can't wait for the walkthroughs.

True, but you said etc, and then if there is no shade charging for it is cheap or scammy. Just pointing out how common renting private shade is in the real world, not just Universal Studios and 4 Seasons Orlando-cheap or scammy is open for opinion of course.

I think a lot of resorts at WDW are lacking shade by the way-esp for summer afternoons.

No I said, if it's designed so there is no shade, which is rather different. Also the post you responded to said it was very common, so you're pointing out something I already said in direct response to me saying it...

And in my experience of Disney resorts is that there is shade to be found either via trees or buildings. Less at certain times of day sure, but I've never had trouble finding shady spots. Perhaps it's worse at the non-deluxe ones.

This FP+ change where you can pick an additional FP for another park will be great for park hoppers or AP holders. That is something that has always bothered us about FP+ when it was instituted.

While I agree there...there's a good possibility that the "old" three may screw you...

How do you work around dining with cancellation charges in overbooked/penny pinching locations if you can't do guaranteed times?

...you make people stretch out their days. What's the benefit of that? It nearly eliminates park hopping...guaranteeing staffing even more.

It's like the rack for consumers...keep turning the wheel

It's definitely an improvement, though there is an inescapable numbers problem with FP+ at this point.

At busy times of year you've got X FP+ slots and 2X (or 3X) people...

You already can choose your own times, it's just convoluted and annoying. Select the rides you want, pick the A,B,C,D that has the times farthest from what you actually want, then edit each FP individually and pick the time you want.

Remove the A,B,C,D for convenience, but you still have to choose a time and go during that window.

I don't understand why this would give those that want to "game the system" any advantage...what am I missing?
