News Round Up 2016

Some things aren't "up to opinion", you know?

Some things are just _tupid

...fill in the blank ;)

I'm sure many folks purchase things in life that others think are stupid.....to them.

That said, I was told it was just my "opinion" that Disney World did a better job with land purchases than Universal Studios Orlando has done.

I'm in the middle - we really like it, but DD wanted to do it twice in a row last trip. Don't ever do that. You realize it really is almost the exact same jokes every time, with a little bit of improv from audience response.

I would agree with this advice. I've only done it 3 or 4 times ever and usually keep a year at least between viewings. But last week I found it funnier than ever, and I felt a lot of the jokes were new. But the stuff making fun of the crowd participants is the best.

We rent shade every day when we are at Clearwater overnight.

I suppose they could just tack on the cost to each room and have a dedicated room umbrella or cabana-but that would be more than they need to put up each day, and some maybe most would prefer to not have to pay for one if they don't use it.

That appears to be a beach. Unlike a park or a resort where you can easily plant trees or align walls to create shade, you really can't do that with beaches.

On the other hand, at beaches you can bring your own Sun shades, so you're not obliged to pay for a cabana or umbrella. Try doing that at a resort.

It's hardly the same thing.

A lighted tree isn't enough. Hopefully the new show will be (but as to whether that means I stay longer or come later, I'm not sure). I'm not sure I like the idea of the night-time, perpetual dusk, safari. Seems cruel to the animals (those that would have already been there) to keep them out longer.

Hmmm I got it....:teacher:.....Consider it EMH......For the Animals that is..LoL...J/K of course..Like others have already stated, I really don;t think they can tell what's going on, and yes the are being well taken care of...

True, but you said etc, and then if there is no shade charging for it is cheap or scammy. Just pointing out how common renting private shade is in the real world, not just Universal Studios and 4 Seasons Orlando-cheap or scammy is open for opinion of course.

I think a lot of resorts at WDW are lacking shade by the way-esp for summer afternoons.

@rteetz Sorry if this is a repeat, but WDW Prep School is reporting that FPs from the app go live on 4/10 and initial FP booking preselected time options will be going away, too. Anyone heard anything?

Say what??!!
ETA: Okay, I went and read her tweets. That'll be very helpful and will hopefully streamline the process. Although, maybe it could end up taking longer to get each day set initially? Hmm...

No I haven't heard that. So would your FP be good for anytime then? That just doesn't make much sense to me.

This is from Deadline
"The word strong is an understatement when talking about the fifth weekend hold for Disney’s Zootopia which is at amazing -14% for a projected FSS of $20.7M. Domestic by Sunday will be at $276.6M. Zootopia‘s percent decline isn’t that far from Frozen‘s -13% at the same point in time, and its running 44% ahead of that princess musical."
Impressive but not surprising based on the quality of the film.

That is impossible...it's a mathematics based system and you can't eliminate the Windows.

Unless...try reduce the number of fastpasses available by about 90%...thereby increasing the standby lines by 50%...

Does that work in the current environment?

This is the problem...since everybody has an opinion...everyone is "right"

Nobody is wrong.

To take this beyond Disney...that's a worldwide recipe for catastrophe...

We see it already...nobody is "wrong" so they dig in their heels on bad ideas.

You see the danger? How about we just eliminate cabanas...since they are 100% unnecessary?

They won't give you a preset time anymore you will get to choose your own time from what's available.

That's a square wheel...so the first 3 hours will be booked solid and then it will be a whine fest there after?

There's only one way to to make fastpass "better"...
...get a hell of a lot more construction equipment over there and in all parks/areas.

Or are we talking "dynamic flow"? Which means that you can enter anyline at anytime?
What's stopping me from going on rockinroller coaster 3x in a row? Or safaris? Or space?

Holy cow... wdw prepschool also just tweeted that the 4th fastpass will be able to be made in a different park via the app!
I don't see why it wouldn't be. As long as you use those first three that fourth one could always be used in a different park. Just before you had to go to a kiosk once you got to that park.

That's an improvement...but not a huge one...

I booked my first "4th" fastpass in probably my 7th or 8th fp+ trip last week...and didn't use it.

Why? Not enough attractions for the crowds...and that isn't going to stop soon...

The thing that ...cough...I think some have mentioned here before.
