News Round Up 2016

I didn't intend that it would be a great view, but just a fun perspective. Like riding Big Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain during Wishes - far from a perfect view, but it adds to the experience.

We have had a few of those lately.

Had a 7DMT delay, but went right during Wishes-really magical even though we missed Wishes that night.

Same at TT-went during Illuminations and it felt like a Disney commercial coming around that corner.

Does rivers of light has a strong water presence? I'm sure Disney is going to run audition/htz tests, but waterfall/rain, etc can whipe out a high frequency sound (i.e. Screams) in a hurry. Especially if that seating area is sunk into the ground, that's going to control very easily.

I highly doubt Everest will close for RoL. They are talking about running that show multiple times per night. They'll do one of two things:
Shut down Everest after dark completely (it makes no sense to keep opening and closing it between RoL).
Or, more likely, just crank the RoL music.

If I was running things, I'd take a different approach.

RoL Host: "Welcome to River's of Light, where you will experience the wonder and magic of the spirit animals that guide us. The screams you hear are wails of animals lamenting how you have all raped the earth for your own gain. Feel free to deposit money in the guilt buckets are available on the way out."

I should NOT have just taken a big gulp of coffee before reading that last part! :rotfl2:

I agree that if they DID close the ride, it would have to be one long closure after dark. I don't think they would fill up the queue, close the line, let all the guests in line ride, close it, open it up again, fill up the queue...etc.

Quite interesting that there are 5 different "drivers". The vehicles themselves are automated, which suggests these drivers are either actors that ride along and talk or simply pre-built into the show. Either way, the thought of 5 potentially different guides is pretty unique. It definitely adds some variety and encourages repeat riding.

edit: after watching the video I'm convinced the "drivers" are pre-reocrded holograms, similar to characters you see in gringotts. I also suspect the drivers get "kidnapped" by Kong during the show, or at the very least leave the ride vehicle, giving the impression you are out of control.

I'm currently on hold waiting on a Disney division, which is always fun because they play WDW and DLR music while I wait.

Just listening to "Just Keep Swimming" got me wondering - will they pepper the show with Finding Dory references or make mention at the end? Seems like a synergy opportunity. I guess a similar opportunity would exist at Epcot.

last time I was on hold with Disney, they were playing Small World...I'll take Just Keep Swimming any day!

Turtle Talk will be featuring Dory and friends with Crush at some point in the near future. Cant remember if a date was given.

They followed with a country duet of "Let it Go" which was not good. At. All.

I do remember hearing about this. I still wonder if there will be additional tweaking on the other attractions. Honestly I can only really see a throwaway line at the end of the musical, but I could see characters added to the seas.

He shoots...he scores!!!

Except there's still a CM at each point. I just came back and all the second touch points were covered. When I asked about it, the response I got was "We're just trying something new!" to which my response was, so how many people are jumping into this line from the standby, just around the corner where you can't see?

Well, that's one vague website. I mean, is it a game? Collector stuff? A full interactive experience? I get the fun of not knowing what's going to happen, but if I am to pay 200 bucks for that I'd need to know what it really is all about.
The product page on the Disney Store's website has a video showing you some of what's going on.
