News Round Up 2016

I've been to Disney 4 times and my husband many more than that and we had never heard of rope drop until I got on these boards, recently. If you don't want people showing up, maybe you all should quit talking about how great it is? :ssst: LOL!

Rope drop is awesome. Best thing ever.

And the park closes after fireworks. Everyone needs to leave immediately after fireworks. Just walk out. Do not look back. Do not pass go. Buhbye!!

The thing with Peter Pan too, is that it's nostalgic. So if you haven't been to WDW in a long time but you remember that ride as being really magical then you just have to ride it again. I also think that ride is a good example of how a low tech older ride can really capture imagination. Special effects, 3D, VR, all cool stuff... But sometimes the simple things are better.

PP is mannequins and black light. It literally is the lowest quality ride in MK. My kids love it. We ride it every visit. It still pains me to see.

The worst wait time my wife and I have seen at a Disney park is, if memory serves me right, space mountain in the magic kingdom this past christmas. I can't remember the exact number, but I remember my wife running over to the DVD rack and confirming that one could watch The Fellowship of the Ring Extended edition from start to finish and still have ~5 min to spare before riding. The fact is for some reason, people are willing to wait!

Rope drop has been a known advantage for the 25+ years we've been going to Disney - it's a true advantage because it is human nature to "want to relax" on vacation. Most people would rather sleep in - because they see that as part of vacationing. There's plenty of people that know about it and just won't do it anyways. So it'll always work.

I agree that the ride itself looks dated, but I say it's one of the best designed rides Disney has done. The hanging ride car is a simple change but one that fits the thought of flying but still makes you feel safe.I think the way they used sight lines in wide open space alone is great. I think it's popularity is a indication of this success in ride design. My love for what went into this ride aside, I do wish that they would gut it and recreate it frame for frame with updated pieces and technology.

You're way to cynical for me, dude.

Disney is magic...pure magic...and anyone would be lucky to clean the beds In a $700 "club level" room at the poly that is worth about $275.

Don't bring me down, you demon.
this was not a disney employee. Apparently disney outsoursed some of their cleaning services and this was one of them. and according to the news I heard today she was no longer working at the resorts. I don't know if she is still working for the cleaning company but she wasn't working at disney anymore

I'm gonna go ahead and stick to my sarcasm/joke :)

This is exactly my experience. I went to Disney Land with my dad when I was 3. I don't remember much about that trip, but I do remember "flying over London". The feeling of looking down and seeing the little blinking lights, seeing Big Ben, and then angling up towards the stars... it was burned into my brain. I know I did other rides on that trip - but Peter Pan is what stuck with me.

I rode it for the first time in over 30 years in 2014. I didn't expect much from it, but then the memories started flooding back and I felt like I was 3 again sitting next to my dad.

I suppose if I went twice a year, or even once every year, it wouldn't evoke the same response. But for me, it is worth to wait to go back to those memories.

Peter Pan is the one ride I remember as a kid! For me, its when I feel I am truly feel that I am at WDW! Its a classic!

The thing about PP... it is one of the longest lines in MK. It has a decent but not crazy line in DL. There's a version in every Magic Kingdom park (including Shanghai). It requires a small area, has very limited technology, could likely be built in a year or less. You could make a version of it for Monsters inc (door scene - i know I know roller coaster), Bugs Life, Nemo (swimming versus flying), Aladin flying carpet, Big Hero 6, etc. In other words, its the perfect ride system for DHS, AK, and Epcot. Easy drop in, fully customizable.

And Disney will NEVER make the ride again. Its not impressive enough. They would be destroyed if they made something as basic or simplistic as PP, TWR, or AiW. I go back to what I like about DisneyLand more than Magic Kingdom and it is the density of the rides in FantasyLand. Its all the small, basic dark rides, plus Casey's train, Pinnochio's daring journey... all of it. That is what they should have done in MK. Instead we get a poor forced perspective castle, a "village" of food and meet and greet, an oversized LM, and 7DMT. I could redesign all day, but what is missing and what they should have done is add a Pinnochio daring journey type ride, and 1 or 2 more PP sized dark rides. The cost is controllable, the scale is small and the benefits immense.

Sometimes they shoot for the stars a bit too much but a lot of that is driven by the audience and social media nowdays.

But I do find it humorous that the "original" PP doesn't have anywhere near the lines that MK has (and DL version is better!)

I scanned back but I didn't see this covered:
Narcoossee's Desert Party

As someone who has done Holiday Wishes from Narcoossee's, I can say two things:

1) The fireworks are off-kilter. The angle of view separates them from the castle, and the distance is substantial.
2) If you're going to spend $60 at Narcoossee's for a fireworks view, just go all in and have dinner.

I remember posting it but it probably got lost in some discussion.
