News Round Up 2016

Rumor/News

As we all know Universal raised their prices about a week ago but Disney has yet to pull the trigger. Disney of course is planning on an increase but this increase will be like no other. Disney is really prepping and working on how they are going to rollout tiered pricing. This also won't be like Paris or Shanghai pricing this will be an all new type that really no discount for when you go because the prices will be higher than what they are currently. No word on when exactly Disney is finally going to announce it but from the sounds of it, it's coming.

Honestly, we have been loyal visitors (1-2 times per year), but it's getting unjustifiable. Raising ticket prices, especially when you are taking so much away from the parks, just not sure anymore. Think I could be just as happy visiting DS/resorts at this point. By the time Star Wars opens tickets are going to be close to $200. Universal has been stupidly expensive for a while, but Disney is hitting that level for me.

Thanks for the update, I'd better get my tickets reserved for my December trip before any increase!

Okay?

Yes this has been a topic of discussion for a while but we are finally at the point of when they are going to implement.

Ah got it, that part is news thanks. The rest sounded like you had no idea until now sorry.

By the way-its about time IMO.

So you are in favor of this new pricing scheme?

Yes, but we go XMAS week and often Easter or Thanksgiving. Folks not going then should not have to pay an additional premium.

Also in favor of spreading crowds throughout the year.

In all honesty I don't think this will spread out the crowds.

It will not increase crowds peak weeks though-it can only decrease them.
I don't necessarily know if that is the case, we will have to wait and see though. I think because a lot of people don't have a choice in the times they can go that it won't decrease.

I question if we will see any difference in crowds at all. If the Christmas insanity doesn't currently dissuade people I very much doubt that an extra 20% surcharge will.

Of course I also doubt there will be any real discount for off peak either. Just a slightly lower increase.

Unlikely that this plan will decrease crowds for any week or day. All it will do is slow the increase (at best).
To use the Christmas week example, people who go Christmas week are already tolerating peak dining pricing and crazy park capacity issues. Likely they are already ready to tolerate additional gate prices. I wouldn't be too surprised if Christmas week has a higher percentage of passholders than any other week of the year.

families go when they are able and thats usually when school is out. also unless they implement this at disneyland as well its going t obe very confusing and DVC will start demanding their own pricing. if youwant to blame anyone for the constant crowds, it's the DVC and they keep building them/

No doubt for most visitors that week, but making XMAS cheaper would not change the head count either by that logic.

Yep, the amount remains to be seen of course.

But price is going up if someone visits in January, but it should not also increase further as it will for peak.

Folks not going then should not have to pay an additional premium.
