News Round Up 2016

I guess I was mistaken in thinking both Agent Carter and Galavant were supposed to be mini-series.

Just gonna chime in here.

For today's network television channels (CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC, CW), "mini-series" means next to nothing. In many cases, it's used to describe a show that may only be there to cover up holes in the scheduling, or a show that didn't garner much confidence from the company. It's also similar to "Event Show", "Special Series", etc.

If Agent Carter had strong ratings, it would have been renewed for multiple seasons, mini-series of not. Same with Galavant and The Muppets - but with the new ABC head and a push for new, they're canned and spun as "They ran the course for a mini-series".

The AoS spin-off "Marvels Most Wanted" was also cancelled. No episodes aired as I believe they were still in pre-production.

Didn't even hit pre-production yet. They shot the pilot, but the new ABC head canned the project - it was pushed by the last guy, who was ousted in February.

Thank you for the explanation! So things like "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" are considered mini-series because regardless of the ratings it was never going to have more than one season. TIL (Today I learned...)

Muppets TV show officially cancelled...

I had high hopes for this but it didn't pan out. It will be interesting to see what happens next with them.

We are really upset about this. The show was very funny and smart. I think the mistake they made was targeting family audiences. The humor and situations were definitely more adult than anything the Muppets have done before- much more appropriate for teens and adults than young children.
