Well one thing that often messes with the numbers is how you define 'city'. The metro area might be large, but the portion that is the city proper (I.E. operating under a single local governmental body) might be much smaller. That also gets to another problem, where a city has grown to meet the borders of another city, thus limiting expansion, but still creating a huge and dense urban sprawl.

In terms of wealth vs population density Tokyo rates extremely well, of course. Building a destination resort for people with excess disposable income in Karachi would of course not be as safe a bet, population figures notwithstanding.

Metro area vs city population. No different than the US.

Tokyo the city - 13.5MM
Tokyo the metropolitan area - 37MM #1 in the world.

Semantics. Its a whole lot more crowded than Orlando or LA no matter how you measure it.

Sorry, I meant including it's surrounding areas (metro, surrounding suburbs). That would factor in to attendance.

That beauty and the beast attraction sounds like mystic manor and could be a huge addition.

certainly looks like trackless ride system in that concept art - be great to see them use that more and looks like it would be a fun ride and an update on the "dark ride" concept

The picture for Soarin' looks interesting as the "flyer" they are in looks like an old DaVinci type craft not a new plane

I really wish we would get one of those trackless dark rides in the US similar to Mystic Manor, Winnie Pooh or Ratatouille. There's a couple of them at Universal, but I'd like something less screen based.

Sorry for going back so far in the thread here I tend to check in on a weekly basis and binge on the Dis rumors

Pretty disappointed to here this. Though I do have to say that seeing what was coming for Tiffins it did seem to overlap a bit, so hopefully they take some of the "best of" from here and bring it there.

I was looking for a menu for Tiffins on All Ears and I don't see one, Do you have a link for the menu

i don't think a full, official menu has been released.

and then just on the Disney site for the restaurant it mentions:
" Go off the beaten track with frog legs tempura, black-eyed fritters or cheese and chicken liver pâte before planting your flag with the Berber-spiced lamb chop, pork tenderloin or miso-glazed black cod."

Spirit weighed in on the Tokyo news. He said that the frozen expansion for DisneySea is still on as well as the Alice in wonderland area they just aren't part of this immediate plan. The big hero 6 attraction and new fantasyland theater were new to him. Soarin has been in the works for DisneySea since around 2008. That Frozen expansion in DisneySea is also supposed to come to DL eventually, and the Alice area is slated to be cloned in Shanghai.

Next on the agenda Universal will be announcing its next wave of hotel expansion for Orlando and beyond very very soon.

Hope all you want. Nothing is safe nor sacred.
Personally, I've enjoyed most of these adaptations and consider them separate from the animated films.
Maleficent was an interesting alternative take. The Jungle Book improved upon the original (for me). Cinderella, though, felt a bit redundant.
Quality is the name of the game for me.

Though I'm fully prepared to hate Pete's Dragon.

I agree with this entirely. Well, not entirely. Cinderella is my favorite and I really enjoyed the live action version. To me, the trend seems to be that the live action releases follow the source material more closely. I was extraordinarily impressed with The Jungle Book live action, loved that it was closer to the Kipling story, and enjoyed it much more than I ever did the animated. I have many concerns about Pete's Dragon. I am not familiar with what if any written story it is/was based on, and the music was also such a significant part of the film, I don't really know what the framing of the live action version will be. Already I'm very cynical about how Elliott looks.

It seems like the Beauty and the Beast expansion would make sense as a new Fantasyland expansion in DL (similar to BMG in WDW); especially if they remove the Fantasyland Theater. But, by the time they get around to considering a true expansion, Frozen 2 should have come out and we'll see if the property has legs.

Beauty and the beast is supposed to stay in Tokyo only thing that would come to DL is frozen.

Could be. Apparently Muppet vision is not coming back, Mad T Party just got cancelled, and Monsters Inc. wouldn't be a big loss, so there's some space for potential expansion over there. Plus, as you say, Frozen is already moving to the Hyperion. It would be a bit strange to have Arendelle next to Tower of Terror (if it survives) and then the rumored Marvel land, but I guess anything could happen.
