The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

Just have less unused space.

Add a Quick Service somewhere

Those options are not under the Owner's money - just like Bay Lake Tower's lounge, The Attic at BW, the Convention Center, Sea Breeze Point, Atlantic Dance.

I agree we all would want everything perfect no matter who is paying but we have no $ responsibility for these, just wishes for more options to please us. Maybe not you, but I think a lot of people get confused on what is part of our timeshare. er - vacation club.
And what is available to us just via proximity.

I was shocked when I learned most of the restaurants at Epcot were not Disney owned.

A lot of third party. Three main will hear of:

You can add Levyrestaurants.com for Paddlefish and Terralina at Disney Springs.

Edit: I like both of these and have been a rewards member for 20 plus years with Levy. However, I was a bit disappointed they reduced my birthday reward from $25 to $15. Didn't get there this past trip in January, my birthday month.

Also belong to Landry's since back when they had a Rainforest Cafe in Tyson's Corner, Va. In January I did get to Yak & Yeti with my friend and had a good burger for lunch.

This morning February 9 was there, in the wee hours when I awoke. Then it was gone. I resisted booking it because now I have probably too many nights.

Went back to sleep for another few hours.

Woke up and had breakfast then started booking Marriotts, Hyatts and IHG hotels for the summer months. I was able to do a couple nights on points at the ocean, then another couple with cash. After 2 nights hit over $1500, it's easier to pay Disney rates. Stuff is just plain expensive. At least I'm staying where I want, oceanfront with balcony and separate bedroom.

Then son called for help with another hotel in a couple of weeks. With a 1 year old and a almost 4 yo, his wife wanted a suite type spot. He was annoyed because it wouldn't let him book a refundable rate. I was able to get it to work with points as they are usually refundable up to the last couple of days. My rate turned out less expensive also and he happily deposited what he had been trying to pay in an account we both access. I'm leaving that money there. He and my Dil have birthdays in April and May. I'll make the room nights their gift.

Meanwhile I had some stuff expiring. Still haven't booked anything but end of March is school break for grands, but not for the Mom and Dad (my DD's family.) Emailed her to see if grands can go with me somewhere. That will be a 'yes' guaranteed as no childcare needed.

DH and I decided to play DVC slots last week to see if we could grab a couple of days anywhere this week. We were able to book 2 days at BWV in a PG room. 😍

We arrived this morning! I’m convinced that I’ve unlocked the secret to getting a villlage green room. Don’t request it! We don’t stay at BWV often but we have received this view twice and I never put in room requests here. Sitting on the balcony as I write this!

This post deserves a photo!

I was speaking with a friend today about the difference between people who have a “maximizer” psychological profile versus those who are more “satisficers.”

One isn’t inherently better than the other. In fact, if someone with a maximizer mindset tries to behave like a satisficer, they may end up miserable because they constantly feel like they’re leaving something on the table. On the flip side, if someone who is naturally a satisficer tries to operate like a maximizer, they may also be unhappy—because the extra risk and stress of chasing the absolute best outcome may not be worth the marginal gains to them.

It made me think of this thread. I feel like I was a maximizer when I was younger and have been molded into a satisfier by my wife over time. 🤣

Option A: Wife will be happy
Option B: Wife will be unhappy or very happy

Choice: Ask wife which option she wants and usually go with option A. 🤣

Bonus points: Be willing to spend money to upgrade from happy to very happy where possible.

Guardrail: Don’t spend money to go from happy to slightly more happy. It needs to be a full very happy upgrade.

Well since this is clearly pertaining to me I will respond. We don’t all have Grand Villa points and some go to the parks more than others and have to spread their points to the best of their ability.

Maybe I’m in middle of satificer and maximizer since I’m not trying to live a champagne life on a beer budget, but I still can’t afford the champagne life all the time, points or otherwise.

You might be right on not requesting! In November I had one night at BWV. My oldest just started her first year going to college in FL so this past year there have been a ton of short weekend DVC trips. I arrived late for the flight one night and had that same room. Such a view! Literally the best room I have ever had at BWV. It was after midnight and I didn't want to go to bed and next morning I didn't want to leave! (We ended up from there checking into Poly after I picked her up...after being at my BWV it was a bit of a let down).

I completely agree, it’s all about making choices and every person is going to have preferences about how to maximize their own happiness.
