News Round Up 2016

How can I own a piece of this?

Wow, that never even crossed my mind. Even with the parties added, how close are the numbers between Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland?
Oriental land company actually releases their attendance numbers Disney does not so we don't know how close they are for sure.

Interesting note

With the Tokyo talk going around an interesting point was brought up on wdwmagic. Tokyo Disneyland is in fact the most attended Disney theme park in the world. The biggest reason as to why Magic Kingdom is always a top the list is because Disney added the Halloween and Christmas parties to the attendance numbers. Those added numbers give MK that edge but if you go on actual amounts of people going into the park on a daily basis Tokyo wins.
Nobody actually knows how true that is. These aren't actual attendance numbers, just projections. Also, hard to determine exactly how many people going to those parties wouldn't have been at Disney anyways. some might have 1) been at Disney that time of year anways; 2) had gone to WDW another time of year if they had not gone to the parties. I know every person I know that has gone to one of these parties would have made a WDW trip regardless.

Bottomline - that is just projecting a hypothesis that has no factual evidence. It is amazing, you can make numbers say anything and that's what they just did.

While true Tokyo Disneyland does actually release their attendance numbers. WDW doesn't.

Permit

A permit was filed today for show scene installation for avatar. The description uses the words Avatar E-ticket so internally Disney is calling this an e ticket attraction. Also this new permit is being done by a different contractor than the previous show scene permits show. Typically one contractor does all show scene installation.

I am assuming that this is for Flight of Passage?

I've always thought Tokyo seemed way more crowded than the Magic Kingdom, and that considering that the paths in Tokyo are a lot wider. Plus, the least popular attraction in the Magic Kingdom still has a 2 hour wait in Tokyo. I honestly don't think it's a big deal if Disney does inflate their numbers or count the party crowds, but it's an observation I've been making for quite a while. People only talk of how crowded Tokyo Disneyland always is.

While these are redundant entries, so are every park hopper, multipass, or annual ticketholder entries.
All of the attendance numbers are a bit fuzzy.

That is true I think it is worth noting that holiday parties are counted as extra.

We had a set of tickets for the first free one and unfortunately ended up not using them. I don't know why my daughter's weren't into going to the Mk until 1 and then getting up at 3 to do a 1/2 marathon?

THAT's gotta be going over well..."Wait...we're GIVING away the tickets and people still aren't showing up?"

Yeah I'm not exactly sure.

Edit: They are calling both rides for avatar e tickets internally it seems.

That has really peaked my interest in the boat ride now. I wonder if this is one of the reasons why the budget has increased so dramatically for Pandora, aside form poor management. Assuming that if there are numerous AAs, and they are in line with the little bit that we saw in that recent video, I could see where some of the costs lie for this ride.

Isn't Tokyo the most populated city in the world? Twice the size of NY? It shouldn't be a great surprise if attendance is higher. I know nothing about Tokyo or Tokyo Disneyland, but would think if it was just one park, located in the largest city in the world, higher attendance would be expected.

Not even close. By population it barely cracks the top ten, and by density, it's surprisingly low.

Must be using different metrics on the sites I am seeing. I've seen 3 that list it as #1 with 37MM. Like I said, I know nothing :-)
