News Round Up 2016

I am a Jungle Cruise fan also!!! I am not against updating any or remodeling a bit , but I for one miss the HAT at DHS, and the LMA will be a loss to my grandson who LOVED it !! Back lot tour was my daughters favorite !! She loved the area with the props !!
Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see plussings and additions to Jungle Cruise, just not "The Jungle Book Cruise".

Walt Disney said both these things:
"We're selling corn. I like corn."
"When I was a kid, a book I read advised young artists to be themselves. That decided it for me. I was a corny kind of guy, so I went in for corn."

If you don't like corny jokes, you might just be visiting the wrong theme park. Disney Parks are full of them. Just not all of them a said out loud. (See that recent post showing pictures of the Rivers of Light area - I really want myself some fresh brewed "Ye-Tea".

Again I have no sentimental attachment to Walt Disney but I'd argue there's a difference between corny and bad. The Ye-Tea reference is at least somewhat clever. The Jungle Cruise jokes aren't clever or funny regardless of who says them and even worse they come at the expense of what little the ride might offer. That's a bit like watching one of those "Everything wrong with XX in 2 minutes" YouTube videos.

I don't see anything in common save for a word in the name.
The ride could use next generation animatronics, but aside from that, it's good for what it is.

No, I just like what I like. And when I have to pay $100 to get in a park, I don't think I need to settle just because Walt had a hand in it.

Jungle Cruise could be a much more interesting ride, probably with relatively little effort. There was even a proposal at one point to install some inflatable pouches below the water surface in strategic places. Inflating them would let them rock the boat slightly. That and may be a few animatronic updates could make a huge difference to the ride.

But you're paying for a full day of entertainment at the MK, unlike over at DHS.

I'm not at all clear on how they've solved the line jumping question. Perhaps they'll keep 2 touch points for attractions where it's physically possible to change lines.
I don't understand it either. Why would you eliminate the very POINT where they merge - the very POINT where you can (in theory) "line jump"? If you needed to eliminate anything - eliminate the initial one - let somebody "think" they are cheating the system and get stopped right at the point of merge - where they can be sent packing backwards and get in an even LONGER standby line :charac2:

I wish they would just move the second touch point to the end of the line where they already have cast members stationed anyway. They could require the guest to scan again before the boarding the ride. Without the second touch point there will line jumping everywhere!!
GREAT POINT!

I'm not sure that "Hey something else is worse!" is a great defense really. I've been plenty critical of DHS, but the subject that came up this time was Jungle Cruise.

Jungle Cruise may well have been state of the art in its day, but that day has long since passed.

Disney can't take a chicken sandwich off a menu without someone claiming it ruined their vacation because they met their significant other over that sandwich.

All the technical enhancements in the world aren't going to suddenly make the jungle cruise modern. Saying that "rocking the boat slightly" would make a "huge difference" is silly.

There are 4 theme parks at disney world. No one will ever like every single ride, and everyone will always have different favorites. Sitting here complaining about particular rides is beyond pointless. Anyone claiming to know "Walt's intentions" or stating what does/doesn't belong in certain parks has no more qualifications to determine these things than anyone else.

Disney is a park that evolves by paying tribute to it's nostalgia. Universal is the park that relies on the latest and greatest to get people in the door. That's why even when MK got a new ride, it was a kids coaster that fit the aesthetic of the park. DHS seems to be Disney's most active response to the technology on display at Universal while Pandora is their response to the general theming in the Wizarding World.

Shall we open an opinion thread where people can go bash the rides they don't care about? That way everyone who doesn't care about Eoghann's dislike of the Jungle Cruise or whether or not characters belong in the world showcase, can go back to reading what we care about?
