News Round Up 2016

Okay, so we're reopening Maelstrom and putting on a night show in AK this year. '17 will FINALLY see the opening of Pandora? What're the next 3 years?

Here is what I am hearing. The big construction project for DHS is 2016 will be the parking garages. They want both finished before they open the new lands. Star Wars DHS version is looking at a 2019 opening. As for the lands most of the work this year will be site prep more than anything not much actual construction so it seems. WDW is looking at having major openings in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

If this works out this will make our recent DVC purchase work out quite nicely, basically something new opening every year for the next 5 years .... fantastic. Lets just hope it happens :)

So the Dis Unplugged Podcast is reporting that the rumored debut for Rivers of Light in DAK will be 18Apr2016.

2016 Rivers of Light, Night Safaris, Star Wars Fireworks, Frozen Ever After
2017 Pandora
2018 Toy Story
2019 Star Wars
2020 ??

Personally I'd rather see them let that park settle when Star Wars is done and let Epcot shine a bit in 2020, but there is zero buzz about that. Not opposed to Phase 3 launching right away as inertia interrupted at WDW is never a good thing, but with SW and TS completed, that park will be pretty awesome.

But even with Star Wars and toy story that only adds 4 rides. Adding that third land could add another two which would be great. I do agree that Epcot needs something too though.

Except the park as current only has 5 rides - so taking it from 5 to 9 is a pretty big expansion. Plus it is never just about rides. If you think about that it seems like Star Wars land will also have two restaurants, and also probably some sort of new show. I'm not so sure Toy Story Land will have additional attractions. I still say they are missing out where they should be putting at least one more kiddie ride in TSL.
