News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

So if I shell out the $478.63 for the Gold level Club runDisney, I am basically guaranteed an entry in each race weekend? I hate to say I am seriously considering this since there is no DVC/AP early registration.

They also say there will be on course entertainment but may look different than in the past. Wondering if they won't be doing character stops. Just have them out of reach but in sight and waving. If so, the races will go much more quickly but lose much of the fun.

Something to keep in mind. If the HM moved down to a POT cutoff of 2hrs, then the assumed cutoff for the Marathon could be 4:30 hrs.

So excited it’s all official!! BUT I’m really disappointed there is no AP/DVC early registration. I don’t have faith in Disney technology and to know EVERYONE will be trying same day, same time. I think we already know how it’s going to go. 😬

Regarding POT requirements from the rD website:

Example: Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, Orlando, FL, November 3, 2019—2:35:00

It's interesting that in the example of how the POT must be submitted, rD uses a time greater than 2:00. Doesn't anyone at rD proof these things??

I just plugged in the actual bib costs and adjusted flights, and played with room reservations and the bottom line is that if I can get DH on board with me doing MW weekend I need to figure out how to come up with $2500.

An early estimate would be about 46-48% of the entire field will submit for the first non-POT corral. That's from combining the % of people found in Corral D, E, and F (first non-POT corral from before) from the 2020 marathon weekend fields.
Something to keep in mind. If the HM moved down to a POT cutoff of 2hrs, then the assumed cutoff for the Marathon could be 4:30 hrs.

Actually I'm wrong on these. It looks like only Corral A and B will be POT corrals now (possibly combining into only one POT corral). Everything else would be non-POT corrals. That means the new marathon POT cutoff would be somewhere between 4:00-4:30.

So if everyone from C to F joined into submitting the fastest non-POT time, then you're looking at something like 59% of the field. Only 8-10% of the field has a POT under 2 hrs for a HM.

Does anyone know if travel agents are able to get you guaranteed bibs, when you book thru them?

Piggy backing off that question has anyone ever booked through Walt Disney Travel Company? I'm hoping there is a way to book with a bib (assuming it will be a hotel/ticket/race package).

I’ll be dropping my AP if this turns out to be the case. Early registration was the primary reason I had it.

I just checked this out too. They're not currently allowing new Club members.
Interesting! I hate to admit this but if it wasn't so incredibly expensive I would've done it just for the early registration opportunities. Even with the madness that race registration day will surely bring, I still don't think I'd be willing to drop almost $500 for it, but I'm surprised they closed the window knowing that a lot of people might! I guess they have to make sure they can guarantee entry to all of those that were already club runDisney...

Marathon Weekend registration is when I am going to be making my way to the airport for a 3-hour flight. I think I'll have time to register before heading out. Pleaseeeee

It was a major reason for me as well. Interesting that the passholder benefits page still says...

"As a special benefit for being an Annual Passholder, you can register early—before registration opens to the general public—and secure your spot in advance for select runDisney events."

Will this be another area where Disney says read the fine print; we can change whatever we want whenever we want.

Well crap. I just realized that new race is the same weekend as the Cherry Blossom weekend which I deferred from 2020 to 2022 so I might have to do that race in year 2. It's looking like next year's W&D might be the next race I do.

y'all, i'm sad and scared. this will be my FIRST race, and i'll be out of the country for registration (Princess). I found this in the FAQs on runDisney:

Early registration for runDisney events, including Annual Passholders (AP) and Disney Vacation Club (DVC), will not be offered. Gold and Platinum Club runDisney Members will continue to have early registration opportunities as an entitlement of their membership level.

It's been closed, well before COVID. I don't know if they'd open it back up, but window of opportunity is small, considering it looks like W&D registration opens the 13th?
