News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

It would also give them the opportunity to do an "Epcot Double". Run both the spring and fall races to earn a bonus medal which we all know would get eaten up by rD fans.

I hadn't even considered an Epcot Double. I would absolutely do both.

Everyday I open the blogs and look at this thread and the Marathon Weekend thread in hopes of seeing a bunch of new comments; possibly signaling new news. But each time it is all of us simply discussing the possibilities for and against. Oooof! I have from the finish of 2021 virtual MW been focused on 2022 being the come back year. Deep down I still believe it to be happening. In my eyes it is too much of a marquee event, represents too much money now and in to the future for Disney.

My family and I are going either way. We have not been since before the pandemic and now we have DVC points to burn! So if MW is in person I will toe the line with who ever else is able to get a bib. But if MW is virtual again I am going to run it while down there anyways. That will still be far better than running it alone in the dark of a Michigan winter. This is really the only part I can control. Well that and my attitude about it, which I am trying to keep positive!

So the waiting continues. Daily checks of the Dis, Facebook and Instagram will continue. My Pollyanna interpretations will continue. I will continue training with Dopey in January in mind. And I hope to see you all there on race mornings.

Just saw this was announced today. It is another (slight) vector in the right direction. That said, they could justify hosting this - as with the NBA Finals "bubble" - as worth it for the media attention and goodwill it generates.

My family and I are going either way. We have not been since before the pandemic and now we have DVC points to burn!

Yeah, my wife and I will be there for the usual W&D weekend whether the race happens or not, to use up the DVC points banked from UY2/21.

I think this is mostly attributable to being mentally and physically exhausted from life stuff right now, but my rose-colored glasses are a might bit dingy this morning and my patience is waning. I, too, just want to KNOW, already! runDisney, please: manage my expectations.

This is silly, of course, because it's not like I'd be booking anything or making any firm plans any time soon... but it's flippin' HOT down here in FL and I'm already sick of waking up in the wee hours of morning to get some running in. If I don't need to, I'd really like to know lol!

I went ahead and booked a flight for November wine and dine weekend. We have hotels booked for that weekend and Marathon weekend but we were/are only going to do one without any races so expect to hear positive news on marathon weekend any day now

A more serious conspiracy theorist than me could really go to town on the fact the response alluded to 2021 events, but it probably means nothing. Although I think there's almost no chance at this point a W&D race weekend takes place in person, I doubt rD will miss the opportunity to make a few extra $$ by not offering another virtual race.

We have a 1 bedroom at Riviera (DVC points) and 3 rooms at Shades booked for MW. If it doesn’t happen, we will cancel all of them and roll the money/points towards other things.

I really thought we would know something before the 7 month booking window with DVC but that has come and gone.

I'm not sure I'm ready for the response if/when rD announces another virtual race. Especially if they announce W&D is virtual while saying nothing about marathon weekend.

Reopening dates for Sebastian’s and ‘Ohana were released today. Hopefully the train keeps rolling. I still think we’re waiting for fireworks and parades before an rD announcement is realistic but I’m going to keep holding out hope that they’re just around the corner (or the riverbend).

Me too. Actually I reached out back in February because I was booking a room for W&D and they gave me this exact same email response.

I'm trying to think back to rD events which no longer exist, and how we learned those events would not return. Mostly, I'm drawing a blank - did rD ever formally say any dead event is cancelled, or did it just not appear on the calendar anymore? The reason I'm wondering this is because maybe they are just not going to say anything at all about W&D. After all, they never actually announced a 2021 W&D event would take place, or any events in 2022, so maybe they don't feel obligated to further address the question. Do we already have our answer on 2021 W&D, and maybe Marathon Weekend in 2022, and we're just not seeing it? I'm thinking back to early 2020, when big events started to be cancelled. I was signed up for Chicago, Boston, and London last year, and I remember those organizations reaching out with emails saying they were assessing the situation, working with local authorities, etc. At lot of times, those emails didn't really provide much actual information, but at least they provided some communication. This silence from rD is just frustrating, but maybe that's all we're going to get, at least for a good long while.
