News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

"Hospitals are packed in Orange County, and now this is killing children. Not good."

BuckeyeBama do you have any hard data to back this up or are you simply fear-mongering?
I mean seriously, it sounds like you are breaking news here.
I know the moderators don't appreciate these type of discussions because they lead to arguments.
So far children are least affected by covid so please put forth some data and not just opinion or speculation.
Too many parents on this site to drop these info-bombs.

Sorry, I should have posted a link or two.

For the Florida cases soaring part:

I really don't know what's okay to say and what's not at this point - the reality is any future in-person racing is likely to be impacted by new COVID happenings. I won't bother finding links - the news is everywhere for those who wish to read about it thoroughly: the new data about Delta being so much worse, and infecting and being spread by even the fully vaccinated, gives me some pretty big doubts for W&D. I regret forking over the money at this point and would gladly take a refund if offered. ~sigh~

To bring this back to racing (and piggyback off of Princess V), it's pretty clear that in-person racing is going to have to adjust. I'll go so far as to say we knew this even before Delta. There's a reason why so many races have said that specific protocols will come later, given the ever-changing situation.

I wish Disney would give us an idea of what those protocols may look like. Other races have said to be prepared to give a negative test or proof of vaccination. DCL has said the same (and the test prices are not cheap).

Marathon Weekend: Jan 5-9, 2022
Princess: Feb. 24-27, 2022
Springtime Surprise Weekend: March 31 - April 3

Whoo-hooo!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a bib for last year's Princess 10k (my first ever run Disney event) but lost out due to COVID. Next year we had already book for 31st March -13th April before I saw this Springtime Surprise Weekend. What are the odds that our dates just happen to coincide with an extra run Disney event?? I can't believe my luck. I just need to bag a 10K bib and I will be on cloud 9.

I'm sorry BuckeyeBama but you failed to mention that the "it's killing children" were from INDONESIA.

A VERY important point that was omitted that doesn't take into account their health care system/hospitals, comorbidity, population density, vaccination rates, etc.
Additional info from the article:
"a mortality rate greater than that of any other country."
"swept through Southeast Asia, where vaccination rates are low..."
“The government has never taken this pandemic seriously from the beginning,”

Another article you linked to regarding Alabama, has 32 children IN THE HOSPITAL, none dead, only ONE on a ventilator.
This out of 916 PEOPLE ADMITTED STATEWIDE, which works out to just over 3%.

No offense meant and I'm certain you mean well.
However, I believe it is important to know the details and not to make broad statements that in this current political climate of agenda driven hyperbole, can fan the flames of distrust.

ANYWAY....(we need to move to a new topic)

Who wants to speculate on when they will announce the themes for the spring race?
Speculation Ahead: I'm going to guess that the longest distance will include running through DHS and DAK based on the pictures of the attractions in the promotional logos. Alternatively, there could be two shorter distanced races running up through those attractions. I believe there were past Tower of Terror and Everest race events, though it was much before I knew about runDisney.

Will the distances be different each year or is the theme only different each year. What are possible distances? They will be a small, medium and large sized one in theory correct.

SERIOUSLY TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. No one cares about the convo you're trying to have right now with BukeyeBama. Just stop. We don't want the thread to get locked because you felt someone on the internet was wrong and JUST HAD to respond.
