I recently booked a holiday at DLP, staying at the Newport Bay Club hotel in July. I booked a standard room, but am now wondering whether I should ring them up and change that to a lakeside-view room. This will cost about £50-£60 more. Do you think I should do this? Is it worth it? :confused3

Having looked at some of the photos I'd think it was worth £60 :goodvibes

Sorry, have to disagree, unless you're planning on spending a lot of time looking out of the window.

If you're looking at upgrading at all then upgrade to the Admiral's Club, if you can afford it, go ahead and upgrade to the Admiral's Club and a lakeside view, but I'd choose the perks of the Admirals rooms over a view of the lake. Just my opinion :goodvibes

Stayed at the Newport Bay in March we didn't pay for lake side rooms or adjoining rooms but got two anyway. But we did pay extra for the admirals floor which was a god send at breakfast you don't queue (it was manic) with everyone else you have breakfast in a separate small resturant called The Captains Quarters. Not sure how much extra this was my sister booked it all but it was worth it. But that said for £60 waking up, opening the curtains and looking out over the lake is worth every penny just wish I could do it everyday. :sad2:
cheers :cheer2:

I have stayed at npb twice, once with a lake view and once without, if I went there again I would pay for a lake view.

I should have said we were lucky and had a pretty good view from our room

the lake is very beautiful at night, impossible to photograph though.

No, you can't see the Park itself, if you go for the lakeview room I imagine you will be more centrally placed but looking down the lake from a similar angle, you'll see Sequoia Lodge to the right as in my pic and Hotel New York and the tethered balloon "Panoramagique" at the other end of the lake.
More like this

This was taken from the Captain's Quarters Bar which is on the first floor, obviously, you'll have a better view because you'll be higher up, we were on floor 7, adjacent to the central apex in the photo below.

"Panoramagique", Cafe Mickey, HNY at night. (not my photo, found on the web)

Hope this helps you make your decision. :goodvibes

On one hand this is true. But on the other hand if you return to you room during the day and you have such a magnificent view, or if you return to your room at night after a beautiful day at the parks and you can see the other two hotels and Panoramagique-this is heavenly. :wizard:
And everything is light up so beautifully.

When we stayed at the Hotel New York in January we had a lake view room and we returned two times every day intentionally just to enjoy our beautiful beautiful room!
So if you can afford it you should always book a better room or a better hotel because it can make your holiday perfect.

Fair point, but it's not me I'm afraid,
I'm up at 8 ready for breakfast, straight to the park until they throw us out, if everyone's up for it a nightcap in the Village or last time in the Fisherman's Wharf Bar and then it's shower & bed. :teeth:

Each to their own. :teeth:
Some years ago I was like you. But nowadays I think I'm a bigger fan of the Disney hotels than of the parks! :rotfl2:
If I would get a CC room or a suit in one of the Disneyhotels for free, I would spent the whole day in my room/hotel and I wouldn't miss the parks at all! :cloud9:
