Hi everyone, :wave2:

New guy here! My DW and I just booked a trip for Sept. 29 - Oct 5 of this year to DLP. We're DVC members, so our stay will be at the Sequoia. However, as I research ticket prices and things to do in Paris, I find that we have a lot of questions.

Long story short, I'm piggybacking this stay on a quick business trip to London for the Eurogamer Expo, so we'll actually be coming from London. Neither of us have ever been to Europe, so we're trying to figure out all kinds of stuff (see below)

1. How to get from London to DLP
2. Which types of tickets to get? (Are DLP annual passes seriously 119 - 199 Euros?!)
3. Are the DLP tours into Paris (Paris Discovery, Magical Day in Paris, etc.) worth it?

Anyhow. Any and ALL help would be most appreciated. Suggestions outside of the above questions are also welcome, if you're feeling particularly generous with your time and info. hehe :worship:

Cheers!

1. How to get from London to DLP

You can take the train (through the tunnel), see eurostar : http://www.eurostar.com/uk-en
the eurostar will get you from London to Marne La Vallée Chessy (DLP's train station)

2. Which types of tickets to get? (Are DLP annual passes seriously 119 - 199 Euros?!)

yes seriously. I know it sounds ludicrous compared to US APs
If you go for APs just check the T&Cs, some APs have blockout dates, and some may not be used on the 2nd and 3rd day after purchase. You can purchase them by mail but don't know if they ship to the US

regular gate price is a bit over 74 euros for 1 day hopper (here it's called 1 day/2 parks) you can get discounted tickets (etickets) over the internet on the french website for about 40 euros per day (advanced purchase)
multi day tickets are cheaper (on average per day, just like US tickets)

3. Are the DLP tours into Paris (Paris Discovery, Magical Day in Paris, etc.) worth it?

I don't know about those. But you would probably be better off organizing this yourself. (if you want to climb the eiffel tower for example, be sure to book your tickets in advance (over the internet) this might save you hours (and I mean hours )

Thank you MUCH! :worship:

1. That's such a relief! My DW and I will hopefully be hopping on the train early morning to maximize our time in Paris. So knowing that there's a direct route to DLP is wonderful.

2. That's such a shocker! We've been Premier Passport holders for the last two years, so it's so hard to believe that the DLP Annual Passes not only cost less than half that, but also are a better value than buying individual 3- or 5-day tickets.

It seems like the blockout dates for the Fantasy AP would only restrict our arrival date (Sept 29) and we'd be able to use them right away for the rest of the trip, so I think it may be worthwhile to get those.

3. Admittedly, we're a littler nervous of getting lost, not maximizing our time, and overspending (simply because we'd be at the mercy of timing and not knowing exactly how to get the best values), so that's why I was favoring one of those tour packages. We do, however, have 6 days, so maybe we can experiment a bit closer to the end of our trip. :)

Hi
If you are onsite blackouts do not apply plus if you are changing your AP to a permanent one (if you order online from Ce Multivantages or promoparcs you receive a temporary one which looks the same as a ticket) they don't apply on the day you make them permanent.

A poster called Carrie Cat did a couple of fab Paris itineraries up for posters. If you do a search you should find them in this forum. Or perhaps a kind Diser could locate them for you - sorry my laptop has just died so I can't do it for you :(
Its so handy having the RER train stop at DLP - it makes nipping into Paris very handy. Have a look at their website and there's some handy maps you can download. The RER are the train lines that go out of Paris and then the metro is the same as the subway. It really is very straightforward. HTH

Re the Eurostar, there is a direct train from London to DLP however this is a very popular route and the cheapest tickets sell out way in advance (I booked my September trip back in January!). To get a good price you may, therefore, want to consider taking the indirect train via Lille or central Paris. Tickets for these routes go on sale three months in advance so I would start looking into booking something as soon as possible if you can.

Having said all that, I've just had a quick look at the Eurostar website and the direct train on 29th September is actually cheaper than the indirect one! I'd still look to get it booked soon though.

Thank you both! I was just wondering that, actually. About blackout dates applying if you're on-site, I mean. After all, if we were in the park, then decided to upgrade after entering, then why would they kick us out, right?

Also, I just now booked the two cheapest seats from London into Paris for the morning of the 29th. I assume there will be different stops along the way, one of them being Marne La Vallée Chessy, or did I miss the option where I needed to select a specific stop? lol

Apologies if that's a dumb question, but we're both new to international travel (Canada and Mexico don't count, as far as I'm concerned), and I'm concerned that our French lessons won't be enough to get us by. So the more I know ahead of time, the less I can mess up by not knowing the language. :artist:

Most CM's speak English, around Paris & Disney if you just try and speak a little bit of French then most people will help either by speaking English or basic French. Just try to learn common phrase such as Hello, Goodbye etc

if you have booked Eurostar from London to Paris, that arrives into Gare du Nord - it doesn't stop at DLP on the way. You will need to take the metro then the RER out from Paris to DLP (Marne la Vallee Chessy station).

That's encouraging. We're currently going through our Rosetta Stone French lessons and picking up as much as we could.

Son of a..... lol Well, thanks for the heads-up! I should've been a bit more patient in booking our seats. Lesson #1 learned. ;)
