Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Well DH is a bigger Walmart hater than me apparently...lol

He doesn't want to "put our baby in anything purchased from Walmart." He's such a tool. It's exactly the same crap from Target and even BRU. Ack! men.

So I'm going to put our crib on the BRU list--just the cheap Jenny Lind one and we'll find a dresser/changer ourselves, since we have PLENTY of other big ticket things people can get. Now I have to pick a new stroller.

Did any of you register for a baby carrier? We picked a $100 Bjorn that we'd probably never buy ourselves and I'm wondering how much real use it would ever get. I hate that I feel like I'm registering for things that I wouldn't buy myself. The Pack N Play is a bone of contention between me and my mom. I just doubt we's really use it. It would take up the entire floor space in our living room. It would be easier to put the baby on the floor or in a bouncer or something...

Geesh, why in the world does he hate WalMart so much?
My kid would be screwed if I was that anti-WalMart. Or we'd go bankrupt. One or the other. :headache:

We didn't do a baby carrier. I figured if a situation ever came up that I really thought I'd use it, I'd worry about it then. I tried not to go too crazy on my registry because I didn't want people to think I was a Diva. :rotfl:
Pack-N-Play is a must-have for me, but I know that I will be spending a LOT of time at my parents house. They have an in-ground pool that me and my maternity leave will be loving all summer long. The Pack-N-Play will be perfect to take him with me to my parents house! :thumbsup2

Why do you have to pick a new stroller?

I THINK so. :confused3
My brother brought them up to me (we don't have a Target here) but he lives in Orlando so there is a slight possibility that they came from Disney, but I doubt it. He's too lazy to drive out to Disney to get me something, but frequents Target and might have been tempted to take a stroll through the baby aisle! :rotfl:
The baskets in my changing table and the one on the shelf are the Classic Pooh lined ones from Target, though. I got those in December when I was in Columbus. I love them, they're very cute!

Well, don't get too antsy because of me.. that is the only room in the entire house that is done! It got done first mostly because most of the stuff in the other rooms we're still using here and there. :headache: And all of that stuff was already at that house..
Next room.. guest bedroom! :thumbsup2

That will be fun!! It's coming up soon, right?? I forget when in April you told us!

Aw well that was nice of your brother! I am pretty sure they're the same ones I got from Target. I can't believe you don't have a Target where you live :scared1:I practically LIVE at that store I shop there so much. I have a regular Target within 5 minutes of my house and a Super Target within 10. Not good for my shopaholic tendencies, especially with a baby on the way!:rotfl:

April 14th is the big day! Less than two weeks...I can't wait

Haha, yeah. People want a Target here but whatever. I've just always known WalMart. There are two SuperWalMarts in my city, both equidistant to my house.. and another one in the city I work in. I'm never far from Wally World! :rotfl:

It's bad for me that Krogers is a two minute walk from my house.. god I love groceries. :lovestruc:laughing:

Woohoo!! So I know it's Allison... or?? :confused3

I just realized my ticker changed! Woohoo!

And it lies again. I haven't felt him move in two days, little bugger!

Anyone else feel like their ticker's little line of info is just WAY off?

Don't get me started. he hates it for the same reasons I do. I'd really rather just stay out of that battle. i don't want to start that here!

I won't shop there unless I'm desperate, but I'm not trying to convert anyone or think any less of someone who does shop there.

I found a nice cheap, light travel system with Walmart that Target only has through the .com and I don't want anyone wasting money on shipping. So we'll just go with the one we liked at BRU that is a little cheaper anyway.

I picked a basic Pack N Play without all the extras--no changing table or canapy--I'd like the canapy, but only the really expensive ones have that.

Well, I know most of the reasons people don't like it but around here we're stuck. DH and I really find ourselves stopping sometimes and saying "Okay. We need a cooler. Where do we go?" or something and WalMart is the only place that enters our minds.

Target's shipping prices seem crazy high. That glider was set on shipping for $74.99! How in the world does it cost $74.99 to ship that thing? They're crazy! :scared1:

I wanted the canapy too, but I was like you.. wasn't worth all the extra money. The one i registered for is pretty no-frills, basic colors. It'll work and I can always throw a blanket over it. Our TRU even has netting you can throw over the top if you're going to be out at night. I thought that was nifty! :thumbsup2

Happy Tuesday girls. I had my regular check-up yesterday. Everything is great with the baby and mommy. I gained 4 pounds last month:scared1: I am actually not surprised at all. We did go to Disney after all. I only have 88 more days to go until she is here.:cheer2: I sure hope is goes by fast.

I too am another WalMart hater. I only shop there at the last resort. It is such a zoo in there. Now Target, I LOVE

Woohoo!! So I know it's Allison... or?? :confused3

Well actually I am having a really hard time deciding between Allison Claire and Madeline Claire. I want Claire as the middle name either way but I can't decide on the first name. I keep flip flopping between the two. Who knew naming babies could be such hard work :confused3

But for a boy I am set on Jacob Ryan. I have always known that if I ever had a boy that would be my first choice name :)

ETA: My friends and family tease me that I am naming him after Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles. I honestly didn't make that connection until after I'd decided on the name. Oh well, I am thinking most kids that he would be growing up with don't have the slightest idea who Jake Ryan is and that's just fine with me ;)

4 pounds isn't bad!! That's only a pound a week.

I'm dreading the weigh in tomorrow. This was my first full month of not being sick and it's actually been 5 weeks, not 4, so I'm expecting a big gain. I only see my waist expanding though, so it should be all baby-related weight.

Yikes, I won't profess my love for walmart outloud either! I've seen a lot of crazy things while I'm there, don't get me wrong. They just opened a new Super walmart by our house that is so huge. Plus, it's open 24-7! We shop there for a lot of stuff. I like Target too, but they have higher prices on a lot of the baby stuff we use. But I do have to say that I love the walmart craft section. Target should invest in that!

Does anyone know of a good nursing tank that is long? I mean, long long! I'm almost 6 feet tall and all the tanks I've seen are to my jean line or shorter. That won't cover much after DS is born.

As far as Jake Ryan...I think that name is on Hannah Montana too...lol - Obviously its a cool sounding name.
I love the name Allison, our DD-2-B will be Ellasen, to take the Ella after my grandma, but similar to the name Allison that I love :)

We found out yesterday that we're having a BOY! I guess it's Money after all. :lmao:

Congrats!!!
The name Cash is pretty cool :upsidedow

I have used the one's from target, they seem long. I'm also 5' though, but a lot of shirts seem to short for me. I read a lot of reviews on them before I bought them. Online they have them in long length if that helps?

Go ahead, profess away!! Like I said, I don't care what anyone else does, I won't start anything...now don't start with DH, he loves a good debate. When i told him that I found great stuff and that they had such a great website with more reviews, I told him right away not to start a debate with me. He's being totally stupid about it, but I can comprimise. :thumbsup2 If not, I would have killed him a long time ago! :scared:

I can not find any cute boy clothes... boo! All the girl stuff is sooooooo cute, I went into like 4 stores today and I didn't buy a single thing, good for hubbys wallet, bad for Acorn, lol.

I checked out the website, but didn't see it in long. That was Target right?

I loved Old Navy for my cute boy clothes, and the clearance racks at Baby Gap. Granted it was 2000, so it has been awhile.

Ohhh.. I LOVE the name Madeline. It was my favorite, I will name my daughter this, name until I met DH. He's got an Aunt "Mattie" and a neice "Nati" so I couldn't do Madeline and call her "Maddie" without servere confusion.. so we searched, searched for a girls name (go figure it's a boy!) and decided on Cassidy.
Claire makes me think of Australia, always. Because of my brothers girlfriend! :rotfl:
Both are very, very pretty names, though!

I love Jacob. It's going to work well in all stages of life... infant, toddler, adult. You get what I mean, right? I'm not just rambling like an idiot for nothing.. :rolleyes1

Really? I must be crazy, then!
Though most of the cute stuff I've absolutely fallen into love with and paid full price for are accessories-- Old Navy has the CUTEST floppy sun hats!
I got this there:

For him to wear around my parents pool this summer! :lovestruc
I also go :lovestruc over the seperates JCPennys has. I wish I could remember who makes them. :confused3 They're on a table, folded.
I was just there yesterday and got a pair of shorts! :headache:
