Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Yep, I was pumped. She said "We supply breakfast and lunch and usually a snack in between!" I was like "YESSS!"
Best part, this hospital has GOOD food... I volunteered in the kitchen in high school and used to snack all day. (I know where they keep the Oreos :rolleyes1 )

Anyway- yep. She said they do it ALL. It's all day. I don't know about a video? But she told me to bring a blanket and a stop watch because they'll teach DH how to time my contractions and such.
Also, I get the tour... woohoo maternity ward. I've been there before, but I was in 6th grade.. so uh, that was 10 years ago and I don't remember.
I'm excited to see that, and I'm sure some things have changed in 10 years.

They also go over breastfeeding, nursing, post-partum stuff, etc.
Awesome!! I would be really surprised if it hasnt changed in 10 years. The hospitals here have all MAJORLY redone their birthing centers in the past few years. Making them more family friendly and such.

I know the other hospital in town has Labor, Delivery and PostPartum rooms.. so you do it all in one without moving (friend had baby there in March!)
BUT... I'm not sure about where I chose. I'm pretty sure that they would've updated it by now (my assistant manager had her baby at the hospital I chose 12 years ago and said their rooms were Labor, Delivery but she was moved somewhere else PostPartum.

I bet they've combined all three into the rooms now, though... to stay competitive with the other hospital in town.

I like another perk they have. They do a candlelight dinner in my room with DH our last night in the hospital... and the nurses keep the baby until we're done. I think they used that as a way to try to sell me on the hospital. These people like to hold food over my nose! :rotfl2:

Laura- I sat down to work on some homework (online classes, why I'm online so much-- I swear I don't stalk this thread, I'm just always on doing homework!) and I felt him FINALLY tonight. Not much, but I know it was him.
Thanks for the words, though. It is comforting... everything scares me a little more than it should, I think!

The hospital Im delivering at has post partum in a different room. They have tiny little rooms too. :sad2: Not looking forward to it all that much. BUT. If all goes well, I wont be there more then a day anyways.

Ooooohhh. Dinner! Thats nice!

I have spent this whole pregnancy on pins and needles, waiting for something to go wrong. everything makes me nervous. Shoot.. I dont even like to poop... I get all freaked out that Ill accidentally push a baby out!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Totally stupid, I know!! But I have SO much pressure that I swear something is going on down there. Besides the obvious. :rotfl2:

I think we all get a little paranoid when it comes to pregnancy! Even ladies who've gone through it before will have different experiences and worry because of that.

Early on, I would have to kind of hunch over to feel movement, and laying on my side helped me feel her move, too; at my 18-week ultrasound she was bopping all around in there and I didn't feel a thing because I was reclined on my back with my legs straight. I couldn't feel anything when standing or walking--I still don't feel anything when walking. Apparently that lulls the little tykes to sleep.

Progress has been made on the nursery today--the painting is done, and the crib is put together! Now we're putting together a new dresser we bought from Ikea to go in our bedroom. Baby's getting our old tiny one. DH used it when he was a little kid.

Hmm... well, 12 years ago where I am delivering had post partume in a different room, too. We shall see. I'll let you know in April! :thumbsup2 Or I could just ask. I'm sure my Dr. would tell me that much!

I thought it was a neat idea.. said they do candles and everything! :)

..man, I can't imagine being afraid to go to the bathroom!! I don't know how stupid it is, seems justified to me.. after all-- we base a lot of our fears/thoughts off of what we see/feel right?? You're not stupid!!

I know I am.. because this was unexpected to the extreme and I can't imagine life without him now. So much has changed. We sped up our house-buying process and bought one thinking of our 'family'.. so when I go over to our house, I think of our family in the dining room, living room, bedrooms, etc. Just like the first time I walked into it. I can't imagine him not finally being in those rooms... so it's scary that the whole little "bubble" could pop.

I don't feel him walking, either. I've felt him at work a few times (we're slow, so I sit a lot..) but not often. It's usually sitting down to watch TV, work on homework, or night in bed. Glad I finally felt him, though. Makes me feel better.

Congrats on the nursery! That has to be exciting! My nursery is still missing a wall. :sad2: But I've got time.. so I can cope. I think.
Kinda neat your baby gets something your DH used when he was little..
I don't have anything from when I was little and DH has a few blankets. So neat to hang on and have.

(I'm avoiding homework, how are you ladies tonight? :cheer2: )

It is a ridiculous fear. I know it. it doesnt help that my three yo is always in the bathroom telling me that when I poo the babies will fall in the toilet. :rotfl2:She always has to check before I flush, to make sure I dont flush a baby.

My babies dont stop moving. Im glad, but it is starting to hurt. I have an anterior placenta on one, so that is a little scary, because I cant feel him move much. Its odd to have TONS of movement on one side... then none on the other.

I have nothing to do... but mess around on the computer. In a few minutes I get to tell my kids to start getting ready for bed. Yep. Its a party a minute here at the Staley house.

Oh man, that is too funny!
She does it EVERYTIME? Thats a whole bunch of trips to the bathroom!
(We had the main water line at work break in the parking lot, killing water to the entire shopping center today.. the police came in to tell us we wouldn't have water for the day and I about died.. I had to drive to Wendy's a mile up the road to go pee! :lmao: )

Is she excited for her upcoming siblings? I assume so since she is concerned they will be flushed away! :lmao:

I'm sure they only get more active and crazy, don't they? They didn't tell me anything about my placenta. No idea. Maybe the doc will tell me, since the Ultrasound lady, did not? :confused3
That has to be crazy... It would make me feel like one side was different than the other. Like, I think I'd lose my balance and stuff! :scared:

..Well, things are about to get super exciting here. DH went to walk the Shih-Tzu and when he left he said "Lets go to bed when I get home."
I think he just wants my body heat.. It "Feels like 5" out there. :crazy2: Glad I don't walk the dog.

Every time. but Im used to it.. I havent gone to the bathroom by myself in 7 years.

Both of my kids are WICKED excited! They cant wait for the babies to come, and they BOTH want to be there when they are born. My oldest is more then willing to help with anything, as long as poop isnt involved. :rotfl2:

Oddly, the person in our family who is most excited.. My husband. He cant freaking WAIT. He bounces around like one of the kids.. Babies!! babies!!! We have two babies coming!! :sad2: He is such a dork!:rotfl2:

My kids are in bed.. for now.

Oh man.. DH is petrified. He's tearing down walls and saying things like "CRAP! A baby is coming! Where are we going to put them!" next thing I know, our room is missing a wall. Or a cieling. I'm not entirely sure how this helps with the "where are we going to put them" thing.. but you know what? I keep my mouth shut and happily stay here at this house packing boxes and cleaning. :upsidedow

That is too great that they are excited! I'm worried.. I know my Shih-Tzu will not approve. I got him when I was 18 and he was my world. He's incredibly, incredibly spoiled. He spent about 7 months with my parents when I first moved out (no PETS allowed! ) but he knows.. He's still about 500x more faithful, loving and loyal to me. I foresee issues with baby. Going to have to try to make sure he still gets lots of attention. I created a fluffy little monster.

Well. DH is freaking out. He says I look like crap and tomorrow is a big day (find out whether or not I get to keep my health insurance.. how exciting.. :faint: ) and I should go to bed.

Goodnight! :wave2:
(Good luck keepings the kids in bed!)

:lmao: Typical new dad stuff! My husband went a little twitchy when we had Mikalah.. But I already had Alex, so it wasnt to bad.

I have no idea about dogs... but you might want to check with a trainer or something to help you introduce him to the baby.. I know there are tricks to help with that.

Night! Get some rest!

Good Morning!

Last night I laid down before my MIL got here...next thing I know DH and MIL are standing over me in the bedroom talking to me from 9:30 to 11:30 - everything from soup to nuts! It was pretty funny.

They were both trying to pump me up to have the baby last night - both think it would be "too cool" if i have her while she is visiting!!! Ack!

Then MIL says ... you are not having the baby yet - you dont look bad enough yet!!! Isnt that funny??? As I am crumpled up w/ bed head in an old t-shirt of DH.

I AM SO EXCITED the UPS man just delivered my baby's new stroller. I ordered the Maclaren Easy Traveller and ITS HERE!! I just snapped in the baby's bucket seat and Annabel has filled it with horses and doing laps around the house...it has been in the door all of five minutes!!! This thing is great! It is so light!!!! And set up like our Twin Traveller so I already figured out how to work it...yee ha!!! I swear our double stroller only weighs 1/100 what our travel system did, I am so glad DH agreed to go this route...when it came out of the box it looked like an umbrella stroller but the basket is HUGE!!!
I guess this is the exciting part of living in a small town and shopping online - the thrill of seeing something AFTER you have paid for it!:lmao:

Hope you all have a fantastic day! I am on house arrest - DH and MIL nixed my plan to take DD to the library today ... so I will be checking in on all of you!

Lisa- I mustve missed your little guy being sick ...what is wrong? Hope he is doing better soon.

I like the 2009 MOmmies thread idea - the new mommy one I found sounded like lots of toddlers.

I love getting packages!!! I wish someone would send something for this baby!;)

Oh, my poor little Landon is so congested. His little eyes were all swollen yesterday.:sad2: Thankfully, he is feeling a little better today and we actually slept last night, but now I feel something starting.....please don't let me get sick and then go into labor!!!

I think I will definitely start the 2009 Mommies thread if everyone is on board!:thumbsup2

Oh NO!! Poor little guy. I hope he gets better soon!

Oh dear ... don't go getting sick!!!!
This in unconventional, but go get a Neti Pot ... both our chiropractors and allergists recommend them and I use it at the first tickle and 99% of the time I do not get a cold. They also sell them at Wal Mart and places like that.
I hope Landon feels better soon!

Packages are my favorite! Unfortunately for DH al the packages this week are a result of my house arrest and passing the time online ... on ebay... ordering baby strollers...etc!!!!

Lisa - PM me your address and I will send you a package to look forward too!!! That would be fun!!! Maybe I could finagle a trip to the post office!!:cheer2:

One of my friends swears by her neti pot! It freaks me out a little though..:crazy2: But dang.. with so many folks saying it works, maybe I should give it a try!

Good morning girls.

My husband told me today that he is taking our guestroom furniture out this weekend. We are giving it to some friends. He said we need to get the baby's room ready, I don't want to rush at the last minute. I will be 18 weeks on Friday. He is just so excited. I think my husband feels like he need to do "something", to feel involved. It's kinda cute.

I think I saw that on Oprah once. Is that when you pour the liquid in your nose? I need to go look it up.

You are so sweet, but you need to keep your pregnant butt in bed (or on the couch!!!):goodvibes Just having you offer has made my day!!!:cool1:

I have a question for everybody. Who LOVES and I mean LOVES their doctor so much, that you would schedule induction just so they would deliver you?

We just got back from the pediatrician's office. ds11 has strep. He can't go back to school until next week. Dh is going to stay with him the next 2 days so I can go back to work. This has NOT been a good week for us!
