Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

december - hope your son feels better soon!! sounds like you have a great hubby!

does anyone have any favorite sibling books or new baby books? we have been checking some out from the library as we go along. the only one we have that we really like is "you're all my favorites". last library trip we checked out "martha in the middle" and it is super cute. just checking in w/ y'all to see if there are some other titles i should be requesting!!

and...i love love love my ob ... but i dont think i could love ANYONE enough to be induced!!! i am the queen of 'stay in there ...stay in there ...' probably relates to the fact that I dont do epidurals!:lmao:

december-its rough this time of year for the sniffles. My 3 yo woke me up last night at 2:00 with her sinuses pouring. Luckily I got her settled back against a couple of pillows on my bed (DH is outta town so I had plenty of room for her!) and she fell back asleep about 3:30. I do hope your son gets better very soon and that you don't catch it!

bkreitzel-I would like to know the same thing about sibling books, I need to find one to read to dd. I think I am also going to look into any sibling classes they may offer at the hospital.

As far as the OB-no I don't like mine that much. I lived in the Florida Keys when I had Madeline and my doctor had a certified midwife with her practice and that is who most of my visits were with so when it came time to deliver, my midwife switched days with the dr. so that she could deliver me! It was so nice having her there. She was terrific! I miss her!

Oh I meant to ask, does anyone have the Sit n Stand stroller and if so, whats your opinion of it? Target is clearancing the older models out and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they still have one next Monday when they should go 75 off. (I don't pay full price for anything! I am a big bargain hunter!)

And to tag on to your question..... how big of a kid can you get on the back of one of these? Height? Weight?

Two of my friends used the sit-n-stand and really liked them.

On some other DIS thread I was recently reading about taking three kids to WDW, several people were talking about all THREE of their kids on that kind of stroller at the same time...that the two older would both hop in the standing part w/ one on the bench and on on the standing part and it sounded like the oldest was six or so.

I hope they still have one for you!

The targets in the bigger cities must be going clearance crazy ... we have NOTHING but my SIL in Chicago called today. She found S'mores the Fur REal Pet $300 horse for $99 and wanted to know if she should pick it up for me ( I said no, and hope that this year my kids dont ask for it again! Seriously, where do people put these huge toys????) The inflatable travel beds for kids were marked to $14 and on and on.

No.. I do not like my Dr. that much. I'm really not wild about her at all. She's nice and all but I've only spent about 20 minutes with the lady through this whole pregnancy and just feel "eh" towards her. She is very quiet.

I picked a Dr. through my insurance companies "Preferred Network Providers"... then narrowed it down to the hospital where they keep their office (I hate the other hospital in town.. HATE) and then I was down to 2.
SIL used this Dr. for her little girl, so I went with her.
I don't dislike her, just not crazy about her.
The Dr. in town everyone raves about is at the other hospital, so she was out in an nanosecond for me.

However... she is in my Dr.'s rotation if I go into labor after hours, so she could still be the one to do my delivery. It's her, the other lady I might have chosen, my Dr. and a man.
I'm just crossing my fingers it's not the man, I'd be really uncomfortable with that.

Bad time of year for the sniffles....is right. My DH gave me one heck of a cold. I am just hoping my son does not get it too.

Minniefan4ever, you are making me feel like a slacker. I am so jealous you guys are starting on your nursery.

I have to say I love my primary OB, but the whole practice is fabulous. They have a great reputation in this neck of the woods, so I would not get induced just to have my primary deliver.

So who is getting epidurals????? Sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ann

Well, I didn't schedule my csection today, I'll do it on my next visit but....I'm already cooking a huge baby. I'm 24 weeks 4 days, I'm measuring 27 weeks.

OB said, she is not going to make the news w/me this time...my other one she delivered was 11lbs (and is her biggest).

Hoping to go completely natural again.

My doc is more like a friend. I hug her goodbye every time. We've been through a lot together.
She was the only doc at the practice before and was so busy. She just added 2 more doc's and I've seen them both....they're both very nice, but I love MY doc. She gave me her hospital schedule for the next two weeks and hinted at induction (breaking my water, which is what I had to have done the last two times) so she could deliver me. I'm still trying to hold out for going into labor on my own, but I don't know if it will happen at all.

I've only seen my dr. twice, but I really like him. Not planning an induction, though.

UHHHH! I just remembered that I was supposed to sign tubal paperwork yesterday. I guess in the middle of being sick and the fall, we both forgot about it. I'll have to ask about it next month.

DEFINITELY! :thumbsup2

Did you already say anything about your nursery? When do you plan to start on yours?

We are moving DS(2) from his nursery to our spare room which is bigger.
We have alot of clutter to move out first and we have to get him a big boy bed! I feel like my little guy is going to get pushed along, he loves his crib. I am going to try to convince my DH to paint DS big boy room. Problem is my DH works two jobs and has little spare time.

I am not considering natural childbirth even for a second. More power to all of you brave ladies, but bring on the epidural!

Ohhh.. that would be sad. Is he excited, or does he know yet? To get a big boy room?
My doctor told me about FreshAire paint from Home Depot-- she said it's 100% safe for me to use, as long as I take breaks and don't stretch too much, etc. It's a little pricey (Almost double what regular paint costs) but I would totally think it was worth it to paint your little one a new room! :thumbsup2 Especially if your DH didn't have the time.

luckyfin--

amen. I have a high pain threshold but that I cannot imagine wanting to do natural.
Lots of extra pixie dust to those that want to! pixiedust:

I have not broken the news to DS yet. He is going to have alot more space to play so eventually I think he will like it.

As far as painting thanks for the tip but my DH would not allow it:lmao: . He is quite the perfectionist with painting and I am sure he would not like my job once complete. I remember when we painted the nursery for DS how bad the paint smell was, so I will keep that paint in mind if we get to do it.

Epidural for sure here! Unless the new hospital wing has a water birthing room (and my dr. is okay with it) I may go that way. But who am I kidding, it will probably be the epidural!

Madeline just got her big girl bed-she was in the crib converted to a daybed style but still with the crib mattress. WE knew it was time to get her a new bed when one night she wanted to sleep on the couch because she didn't like her bed. :sad2:

My DH plans on switching our rooms with her and doing some renovations on her room to make it a master suite while I am back helping my sisters with their children's consignment sale in AL for the first two weeks of March. The baby will eventually share the room with my dd but will be in the pack n play next to my side of the bed for a while.

I have a question for everybody. Who LOVES and I mean LOVES their doctor so much, that you would schedule induction just so they would deliver you?

ME

I was induced with DS because my doctor was going on vacation. He came 9 days early. :rolleyes1 We scheduled to be induced with DD because he was going out of the country. My water broke the night before and she came the day I was to be induced.

I was hoping to talk to him tomorrow about being induced if I did not go on my own next week, but he will not be there tomorrow.

Speaking of mattresses (or of Madeline sleeping on a crib mattress) ... are there any out there you guys suggest?
