Here's hoping none of you have your babies in a snowstorm!

Here in WI it is freezing, but clear skies. This morning the girls and I were treated to a pedicure party by my girlfriend ... nothing cuter than a three year old in that big ole pedicure chair soaking her feet! There were seven of us and it was super fun. My DH will be thrilled that #1 he didnt have to pay for pedis this time and #2 he wont have to do my toes and lotion my feet for me!!! He has had it w/ doing toes and shaving my legs! I personally can't believe he has agreed to do these things, but we wont mention it to him!!

The girls thought it was nutso to walk outside in the snow in their flip flops!
Now we are home and they decided to change into their swimsuits and are running all over barefoot in bikinis pretending to be at Disney World. (they have this big roll out playmat someone gave them which is the Magic Kingdom so they are having fun!)

Does anyone have a petunia pickle bottom diaper bag? i think i want one. nobody sells them around here for me to check them out....i have skulking around online and ebay am really tempted but wondered if anyone had any thoughts if they have used one...

the baby is really quiet the last two days ... i actually slept four hours straight last night, which has not happened in a long long long time!

Congrats Piecey!! Little Boys are awesome. My DS(1.5) is so much fun. I can't wait to have a girl though!

As for car seats ... I wouldn't worry about a convertible yet, unless you want to use it from the start. Some parents choose to. DS was born late April and was in the infant carrier until August/September when he outgrew it weight wise. He has always been a very big kid though ... off the charts from month 1. We have a Chicco Keyfit that we were really happy with but if we have a girl I might cave and buy a new Graco Snugride just because I want a pink one. They are fairly inexpensive and very very highly rated. I missed where you live but one of the advantages to the Snugride is that you can bundle the seat up for cold weather rather than the baby but being born in June, that's not an issue ... nevermind!! I also found errands to be MUCH easier with the infant seat unless you plan and prefer to wear your baby everywhere. I liked just plopping the seat in the stroller or the shopping cart and going.

As far as convertibles, I highly recommend the Britax Marathon or BLVD. They are really comfortable and with a BRU coupon or a sale you can get them somewhat reasonable. DS has been in his Marathon for over a year and doesn't complain at all. They are easy to travel with and very simple to install on a plane as well.

Good Luck and Congrats to everyone ... Hopefully I will join you in the not to distant future on here. We are passively trying for #2. There is a lot going on this coming year so we are not trying too hard but if it happens great. We will probably actively start trying if not successful this summer sometime. We are hoping to move home this summer and we are watching the business in DH's field because it's getting tight and we don't want to dip in to our savings much!!

Thanks again to everyone else. I'm excited to have a little boy, I think thats perfect for the "Older Brother" saying if I get a girl next time... I love having my older brother around.

I went and bought him a pair of blue jean overalls at Pennys and some adorable little cotton drawstring shorts at Old Navy for 1.49!

Oh, wow! Thats really neat- I remember seeing so many of those names around the board with their pregnancy tickers!!

Another discussion question if people ever pop back in...

...How much hand-me-downs do you take? Like, mostly I'm asking because when I called my Assistant Manager (we're good friends) to tell her it was a boy she said her SIL had twin boys and had offered to give me a list of stuff she had with prices on it, so I didn't have to buy new. She mentioned car seats (funny, since thats what I was talking about on here, too!) and said she'd give me both bases/infant seats for $100. I don't need two- DH drives a truck (It's paid off and there is no way we can trade it for a payment right now!), there is not a backseat so no way to transport baby in it. Just my car. She kept pressing me saying I'd have a spare, I could give one to my parents, etc. Just pushy, and I was actually thinking $100 was a little steep when I could buy the 1 I needed new for $120.

So how do you handle stuff like this? I know they're trying to help but for things like car seats-- how do I know what sort of shape they're in??

Yeah.. I get that shes trying to be helpful but why would I buy two when I only need one? My parents aren't going to have this baby often enough to need to buy them a carseat, .

You got a great deal! That is a great price for all that stuff!
Now all the patterns I'd picked out when we weren't going to find out, just aren't going to cut it anymore!! I've got to re-think it all!

If you really aren't interested in buying someone's hand-me-downs (just can't get over that.. ), just tell your friend that because this is your first baby, you are looking forward to registering for a new one and you will be happy to "hand it down" to your future children.

I haven't received many hand-me-downs at all. What I did receive, I used what I wanted to, then returned them all back. With DS#1, I wanted to buy everything myself...with DS#2, I had everything from DS#1. Same with this baby.

What I would really love are some clothes for DS#1!

I think I got a great deal, too. I looked it all up at BRU after I bought it, and just the bed was over $250. So the rest of the stuff was like a bonus. All of it was 2008 models, so I'm not worried about safety. Plus it was already put together, too (display models). So dh was happy not to have to do any of that! We just left it up and found places for it in the house-the bed is at the foot of our bed, high chair in the dining room, and swing in the living room. I can't buy much else, because we don't have anywhere to put it!

The only thing I don't like is that the carseat is a blue pattern, and now I want pink! But I know we'll only use it for a few months, so no big deal. I want the stroller base to go with it, though. I may not get a matching pattern-I'll have to think on that. The other things are all a soft beige, so no problems there.
