Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Uh. What do I need? Hahaha.

I think I need two, right? One infant one and then another when they outgrow infant.

How long are kids supposed to be in car seats? I tried to google it and kept getting weird stuff back.

I do an infant seat until they out grow it.. With my kids it was around 8 months.. Then a convertible car seat.. now my oldest is in a booster.

Every state has different laws regarding car seats, Washington is like 8 or something. 80 pounds?? I dont recall.

This is the infant seat Im getting..

Here is a convertible car seat

Then the booster.. Some of the convertible car seats can be used as a booster... also as an infant seat. Just depends on what you want.

Hm. I live right on the WV/ OH border. I wonder if I need to follow whichever set of laws is the most strict.

This crap is confusing.

Thanks for your help, though! DH and I are trying to iron out big decision items before classes start back up and we start really moving. This one was on my list!

..ETA..

How helpful of WV:
"West Virginia state law requires that all children under age 8 ride in an appropriate, federally approved car seat or booster seat that is installed and used according to manufacturer's instructions. If the child is under 8 years old but is taller than 4'9", the child may ride in a seat belt according to West Virginia law."

Ohio says up to 40lbs.

....almost every car seat I've looked at goes by pounds. WV just has to go by age and height, don't they?? lol.

:lmao: You have a while before you have to worry about. The car seat laws have been changing quickly the past few years, so who knows what will happen before your baby gets that age!

40 pounds.. unreal. Both of my kids weigh more then 40 pounds, and I cant imagine them not in car seats. :scared1:

Yeah definitely. I just think it's crappy the law is like that. People who like to plan (me!) can't go off of that!!

Looks like I just need to pick one out and be done with it! :rotfl:

not that you asked what kind, but ...
we have love love loved the Britax carseats. they are a little spendy but the kids are VERY comfortable and dont squirm around. also, with their booster it starts w/ the high back and side protection which is great for when they fall asleep.
we were in an accident last year and both girls were absolutely FINE. i credit their car seats!
we did use a bucket car seat in one car, but in the other we used the britax turned around from birth and it was great.
make sure you check them out for not just safety but comfort. i had friends try to buy inexpensive car seats and their kids were MISERABLE in the car...making them miserable and ultimately they have upgraded for more harmonious family travel ;)

Another Britax fan here... DS has a Britax Marathon it is the best investment we made beside our Baby Jogger City Mini stroller.

Good Morning!

Moburg, Congratulations to you and your wife! Colin is adorable!

I hope everyone is doing well...I do not check in to this thread everyday so I cannot keep up but like to see all the pics and birth announcements.

I just found out that I have Gestational Diabetes so we are trying to control that with diet. The doctor sent me for nutritional/diabetes counceling so it has been OK so far.

I am also measuring 2 weeks early (by ultrasound (he was 4#15oz on Thurs) and the measurement of the uterus) so hopefully I will have him the beginning of March. I am getting pretty uncomfortable.

Wishing everyone the best!!!

My pregnancy amnesia took a long time to fade! It took five years before we decided to have another.

It took me 9 yrs to agree to have another one! I had finally convinced myself that it couldn't have been that bad-that I was just whiny in my 20s. Uh-no! It really is that hard on my body!

Well, great ladies, now ya really got me looking forward to it all! :thumbsup2
Yes, he was born at 2:24am on Tuesday Jan 6th. He is 18.5 inches long. And he has to spend yet another night in the hospital to fight off this jaundice. I'm headed back there in a few minutes.

Congrats!!! He is beautiful!!!!

As I tell my dd9, not everyone's pregnancies are like mine. I don't know very many people who get as sick as I do, so don't let me scare you!

I had bad morning sickness with all three boys---who will all be born within 37 months...if that helps. Having another baby is just worth the chance (plus there is always a shot that you won't have m/s with the next one). I never had enough time in between to "forget" about labor either. I just prefer to think of it as "prepared" for the next time.:scared: :rolleyes1 :lmao:

No worries, I'm just messing with you. I'm sure once the baby is in my arms, I will know the m/s was worth it and will be worth it again, if we are so blessed.

Wow! You go momma! Most people tell me that each pregnancy was different for them.
BTW, I like your way of thinking!!

So is anyone else getting snowed in right now?

Oh yeah!!! We're over by Youngstown. My mom is terrified that I am going to go into labor today and she'll have to drive in it!:lmao:

I'm sweating and thinking about turning the AC back on-it is supposed to be close to 70 here today. Of course the high Thu is 36. Gotta love MS weather:rotfl:

I don't blame her. it's really, really bad up here. I'm actually at work at the library and we're hoping our boss has some common sense and sends us home. A big district near us closed at noon. Cross your fingers for me--I wanna go home!

I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. This is too crazy to be out in. Unless, of course, I go into labor. I will be glad to go then. We only live about a mile away from the hospital. I told DH, if worse comes to worse, he can pull me on a sled!:lmao:
