Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

My books all say that its EXTREMELY rare, but I find it strange that everyone seems to know someone that has gotten one. Ya know?

No offense to military, but DH said OB care on base is icky. That just isn't their priority.. She blames the base, too.

....Hey, I'm exactly in the middle with my little baby in the box thing.. woohoo!

Must just be me but I am not loving this topic. I wish everyone a safe and healthy pregnancies and deliveries.

Ok, I will briefly share my story delivering DS. Epi wore off, and I spiked a fever during delivery which meant they had get DS out ASAP. We had the best Dr. As precautions DS was in NICU for 3 days but he is a healthy boy!

I remember reading this before. Are you planning to go natural this time? Or at least no epidural? It makes me :scared: about my whole, epidural-all-the-way philosophy...

I'll probably have the epi, since I'm getting a tubal and that will make things easier. I had no problems with my epi with ds11-it was WONDERFUL! Which is why I knew something was wrong with the 2nd one. It hurt so bad, and the dr. was behaving like an idiot-messing around with the nurse. I know problems are rare, and they know what happened to me last time, so I'm sure there'll be no monkey business this time.

Out of four kids, I got one bad epi (with my second) and was flat on my back for about 4 days. They patched it by drawing blood from my arm and putting it through the epi needle back into my spinal sac (sorry if that's TMI, but that's how they do that). They had to do that four times before it worked (over those 5 days). I swore I would never have another one, but I have with every birth since then. I am really hoping to go into labor on my own with baby #5 and have a more natural experience, but I'm not counting on it and, if induced, I WILL be getting that 5th epidural.

OMG.

Disney Ron, this might be an easier topic..

My ticker says that I have to have the BIRDS and the BEES talk with this kid?! EEK!

How do you plan on doing that? Knowing I have years... I'm still petrified!

My 11 year-old and I have had the big one, after sharing lots of factual details on a 'need to know' basis throughout her younger life. You can tell with this baby that she has a pretty good idea of how I got pregnant and that she really doesn't want to think about it too much since she gets a new sibling out of the deal. ;)

Definitely a topic gone bad!!!:rotfl: Hopefully there will be no new labor horror stories for any of us.:thumbsup2

I really pray that you all have safe and "painless" labor and deliveries!

Oh man, good plan!

Except... I'm not sure DH would do it, either!! :rotfl:

It's all going to be on me! DH is definitely not good with these things... although I will probably be brutally honest, which can be a bad thing.:scared1:

Piecey---

How excited are you about the new military offer? I saw you on the military thread I've been checking out. This offer is so awesome!!! Both of our fathers are retired from the military (DH did 6 1/2 years), and we are taking M&FIL to WDW in December. We were going to get our DVC AP's, but this is so much better! I was a little nervous about so much money at Christmas-time, but this makes it all better. We splurged on our DVC points and got a 2-bed concierge level at AK for 7 nights and it will be the new baby's first trip to WDW!

Ahh! I wanna go so bad but I want to make 100% we're eligible before I get too excited.

DH's orders say "Orders to Report" not "Active Duty Orders" and they're not in front of me but they say they're from the Commanding Officer, United States Marine Corps.

They tell him he's ordered to report, yada yada, and that he's covered under all the normal life insurance policies, yada yada, and it says he'll go inactive after the session.

So to me that says he was active but it nowhere specifically states he is, just that he'll go inactive.

Ugh!

..and to think those Orders petrified me (they showed up right after we found I was pregnant and we didn't know what to expect) and now I'm ecstatic to have them!!!

So funny how fate works! ;)

Starting a family was the whole reason DH got out. Being here all the time is very important to him (keep in mind that MIL/FIL live across the street, his DSis is 5 doors down, DBro lives a couple of streets over, etc. etc) and he decided that when his tour was up at Camp David, he was done. I was surprised, but supportive of whatever he wants to do in life. Being a brat myself, I always assumed that I would marry a lifer. He wants to be a teacher instead and is going to school part time. I'm very proud of him.

DH grew up in small-town WV (like, seriously.. the town has 1 stoplight I think, it might be a stop sign, though.. I don't go out there very often!!) and he just knew that he wanted more than that. He signed up before he graduated, hit bootcamp in June of 01 and graduated 9-29-01.
He was in Marine Corps. boot camp when 9-11 happened and said after his first deployment to Iraq he knew that he just needed to get through it and he could get home and have a life. He made it through 3 deployments (1 Kuwait, 2 Iraq) and was discharged from active duty 6-06.. met me shortly after, we were married within 9 months and now we've got a house and a baby on the way. He said he couldn't have imagined things working out this good when he signed those papers. I was still in high school for all of his deployments. :rotfl:
He wouldn't be the man he is without the military experience- and I applaud the military for the dedication they give these guys.
DH works 40 hours, will be taking 12 hours online through West Virginia University this semester(mostly so we can get full GI bill benefits to pay medical costs from baby) and I'm so glad I married a military man.

DH said he was considering being a lifer until he went to Iraq.... and if he'd gone that way, we'd of never met. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton!! I don't ever seem to find myself out there.. sooo.. fate did the right thing sending him to me! :)

Ok, here goes. What is everyone's biggest labor fear?
I fear that I will have a C-section. Stupid.. I know. But I want to have a vag. delivery...
ooo! Good one.

Hmmm...I have no tolerence for pain, so just about the whole thing scares me.
I guess my biggest fear would be complications where either I or the baby were in serious danger.

Secondly, I worry about the spinal headache from the epidural that I also worry I might somehow miss the window for. :lmao:

Is that enough? :thumbsup2
I got a spinal headache after having my first.. They had to do a blood patch on my spine... Oh BOY. Was it ever fun! But I was good after a few hours. :thumbsup2
Hey, speaking of labor, did anyone catch fridays 20/20 and the whole pleasurable birth thing?

Yeah... I did. My husband and I watched it. Strange stuff.

So new topic:

What is the the biggest thing you are looking forward to about being a mom (again!)?

I am really looking forward to the snuggling that sweet little girl!! I get hugs from my kids, but they are getting sooooooo big!! I just love babies. I would be perfectly content to raise birth to 5 and then keep starting over. School is killing me w/ all the outside influences and running around we do.
I think I am a control freak ... I like it when they are "mine" ....

Good answer!

DH is afraid of the infant stage. He says he's good after about 4, but before that he's scared, which is funny, cuz I'm the opposite. I can take care of a baby--as a children's librarian I'm trained in a bunch of baby-related stuff, it's once they start school that I'm worried about. So I guess we make a good team! lol

I love the baby stage too! My mom says I'll never stop having kids, because of it!:lmao: Oh so very wrong Mom! :rotfl2:

I'm looking forward to so much with this baby...I love breastfeeding (after the 1st month of course), the little clothes, the first smile, the cuddling. I can't wait for the day this little guy becomes friends with his brothers.
