Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

My office was repainted on Tuesday. Wednesday, I came home because it REEKED. Today, I came home because it still reeked.. I'm supposed to work tomorrow and Saturday, too. My Dr. said "If you can smell it, you shouldn't be in it."
I'm waiting on my manager to call me to tell me what HR says about compensation. I'm a little concerned (especially since I work a half hour away so I've wasted how much gas and time driving there just to come home??) about not getting paid. :headache:

My manager was a PITA yesterday about me leaving. She was a lot nicer today and came over to me and said "I don't think you can work today either" but it makes me feel bad. There are only four of us, and another girl is on vacation this week. Talk about a tough situation.

Just venting a little.

Uh oh! My school is being painted starting today after school. They are planning to do my classroom over the weekend since I'm pregnant, but I'm worried about tomorrow because they are painting the halls around my room.

Doc. said that as long as there was proper ventilation, I would be okay. I work for a bank, though, so open windows are a security risk and a big no-no.
That and the entire branch only has two! Both into rooms that aren't in the "main" area, but in employee "break" type areas which are behind locked doors. Lot of good that does! :rotfl:

Just make sure all the windows are open if you can (hope you live south!)...
Check what type of paint, too. Through this i learned to STAY AWAY from Oil-based, water-based are a lot less harmful.

Wishing you luck.

Hi All!

Welcome to the new posters!

I went for a dr visit yesterday and all is well. I go for another ultrasound in 2 weeks (they want me to go every four now to chart the baby's growth. I guess my thyroid problem can cause some issues with that).

Our trip to Disney was great. I stuck to the east rides: Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Soarin, Maelstrom, etc.

As far as morning sickness, my doc had me take some extra vitamin B and a low dose of aspirin/Ecotrin (that was to help since I suffered 2 misses) and they both seemed to help. Ask the doc if there is anything that they recommend to take. I was kind of happy to have the MS...since that is a good sign of a strong pregnancy...Hang in there ladies and hopefully it will pass soon!

Hi!

MS is a sign of a strong pregnancy? I never knew that. Way to go guys! :lmao:

Glad everything is well. How far are you? (If it's in your signature, I apologize, I can't see them on this screen and forgot to look before I clicked "Quote" )

Yep... My doctor always asked how sick I was, and when I said... I feel like I am DYING, she would get a big smile on her face and say, "GOOD!! I love to hear that!" :lmao:

Well, then. Learn something new everyday! :yay:

You think that's hard? I had to take down my DCL ticker. We had a week at the Beach Club followed by a week on the Disney Magic planned for July. :sad1: It was going to be our first cruise ever.

Sounds like you just need to go sooner!

Well, it's good to know that all this ick is actually a positive. I've never heard that before about the morning sickness.

I know that there are pills you can take and my doc did mention them in passing but I'm very hesitant. I think I can suffer through for now. My very-unexpert theory is that if the pills were perfectly safe, they would just give them to all pregnant women in the first place. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid. If it keeps up, I'll have to reconsider.

Not all pregnant woman get morning sickness..
Like me. I haven't had any. (And am beginning to wonder if I should be alarmed by that, you guys saying it's a GOOD sign! :scared1: )
I doubt all insurance companies would cover this pill too.. so it's probably just one of the things they wait to see on with individual cases.
Like, my insurance doesn't cover pre-natals. :headache:

REALLY??? Thats crazy! After my insurance... I still pay about $40. a month for my prenatals. :faint: The dang things make me burp up fish all morning... yuck. It covered my Reglan... Which was what they put me on for morning sickness. Thank goodness.. Without that stuff, I would have spent the first three month with my head in the toilet. :lmao:

I just read it tonight in my insurance pamphlet, but yep! No pre-natals..
The nurse at my OB's office gave me enough samples at my first appointment to not need to get a prescription until my second one, when I meet the doctor- TOMORROW! (finally, a heartbeat! :lovestruc )

I think I still have a week or so of them left, but after that I'll probably ask her for a good OTC one or just not take them.
I don't have any idea why they don't. It's good insurance, too, from what I can see. My deductible is only $250, everything is 80/20 and hospital stay is covered 100%.... but no pre-natals. :confused3

I guess it's something I'll have to look into and see if there are any concerns. I'd prefer to not take anything if possible. I used to have a liver disease and I've been pretty leary of taking meds ever since.

I'm pretty sure, though, that insurance isn't the issue up here. I can't imagine why they wouldn't cover it. That seems discriminatory.

Do you guys have prescription prenatals? Should I be concerned that I just take Materna that I can get over the counter? My doc gave me enough free for 9 months though.

Sorry for all the questions. Just making sure I have my bases covered. I know we're all trying so hard to do the right thing for baby, especially us newbies. :goodvibes

I hope I didn't make you nervous...I had very little if any MS with my 10 year old son. I did get nauseous or grossed out by certain things but not really MS. I am sure you are fine  - it is just that I was very happy to have the MS this time since I am older and have some health issues.

It's up to a "company" that agrees upon terms of what is covered with an insurance company down here.

Except mine isn't really a "company" it's my college. I go to a smaller division, though, which makes me wonder if I went to the main campus (where there are clinics, a hospital, etc) if they would just give them to me.
I have maternity coverage in my policy, it just specifically states it does not cover pre-natals. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. :rotfl:

Yep, I think you just have to decide what is right for you. I have acid reflux, and grouping that with pregnancy and heartburn, It's been killer. Doctor said I CAN take tagament on the bad days but it was up to me. Like someone on here said, the benefits outweighed the risk. I'm no use to anyone when I'm in so much pain from acid reflux/heartburn that I can barely stand it and can't get ANY sleep.
It's a personal decision and completely up to you !!

I'm just a nervous gal in general. And bored out of mind after being sent home from work today.
I'll calm down a lot after I hear the heartbeat, I'm sure. They've drawn enough blood that if there was a problem (they watch levels of that horomone, right?) I'd of hoped they'd of told me by now! :goodvibes

I have prescription for the pre natal with the highest DHA available just because of the twins.. Otherwise, OTC is just fine. Heck.. I didnt even take them with my other 2 kids.. and they are both healthy.

On a side note.. My 6yo ds just drew a picture of me, and I look like a basketball with legs and a head. :lmao: :lmao:

I'm taking a Walmart brand prenatal, and the dr. says they are fine.

If morning sickness is good, I must be having a really strong little one. I was on Zofran-didn't help. Now I'm on Reglan-not helping much. Yesterday was a great day-only vomited once. I've been vomiting all day today. I don't know what else to do. I think I'm calling in sick tomorrow though. I've been out of town since Tuesday night, just came back in today, for workshops, so I think I'm entitled to a sleep day tomorrow! I can't teach if I feel like I do right now anyway.

I hope it won't be too bad tomorrow. There aren't windows in the hallways where they painted, but I have several windows in my classroom. It is cold out though! It may be between freezing my students or smelling paint. I hope they wear their coats tomorrow!

Sounds like you just need to go sooner!

I wish we could just cruise sooner, but since we are both teachers it's just not possible. I'll get over the loss of my Disney cruise. I'm sure as soon as I hear the heartbeat I'll forget all about it!

Yes, they are watching your levels so if they were questionable, they would call you right away. In the beginning I had a low progesterone level and they wanted me in there for another test STAT (like yesterday) so I am sure you are fine. Worrying in the beginning is normal...

Lauren,;) you got me a little nervous too. With DS I was sick for 5 months straight from the very beginning. Being older and having not gone to first Dr. appointment I get concerned about every little thing. I can't wait to hear the Dr. say all is well.

Oh my, I am so sorry! I am going to shut up now...;) I was just trying to tell the ladies that are getting sick, it is worth it. I didn't get sick with Andrew (aside from the raw chicken and toothpaste) but with this one, every time I told my doc I had MS, he said "good"...

I think the B vitamins really helped...
