Hmm.. so how much do little boys REALLY eat?

DH ate the entire box of cereal this morning and said "Hahaha be prepared there will be two of me soon!"

Crap. :rotfl:

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I was in Target yesterday and a lot of the baby stuff was on clearance. They are getting ready to bring in new stock.

Happy shopping.

I've wondered that myself. My DH eats like a pig (and it goes nowhere---he must have excellent metabolism---its soo not fair) and Caleb has been wanting to eat more and more. He's almost 15lb and will be 4mos on the 26th and is getting to heavy for me to carry around in the carrier---am having a hard time doing it. My newphew is 8 and eats huge meals also. I am scared I am going to have an eater...scary for my food bill:scared1:

No kidding.. I am a budget shopper. DH gets on to me for it (like, right now a local grocery store has general mills cereal 2/$3... I'll go buy probably 10 boxes!) but I'm thinking I'm going to have to be even more astute now!! :rotfl:

DH is a big boy. He works out 2-3 nights a week for 4-5 hours and runs 5-6 miles a few times a week and walks the dog 1.5 miles a day. He's just ACTIVE and it makes him hungry. I can't keep up. My butt is content on the couch with a remote and a Julia Roberts movie!:rotfl:

....MinnieFan4Ever-- Thanks for the heads up! My friend and I were thinking of going somewhere on a shopping trip here in a few days (Closest Target is about an hour away!) :goodvibes

Anyone ever looked for a job while pregnant? I'm not so happy with my school, mainly because I'm not feeling it is the best place for my kids. By the time this little one gets there, I don't know what will be going on there! We got all new administration this year, and I was really close to the old superintendent and principal, so that is part of the problem. I don't like the new guy! So I've been seriously considering moving anyway.

I'm working on my counseling degree, and our counselor is retiring this year. She warned me that they like my teaching style and won't want to move me out of the classroom (not alot of math teachers in MS). Well, the principal came by today and asked me about my progress. I told him I'd finish in March of next year. He told me that the superintendent says he can't get me an emergency license (even though we have one teacher who has been on emergency license for 3 yrs now!). But they don't want me to leave "if" they hire someone else. I explained to him that being a counselor was my goal, and if they hired someone else they would be around for years, and I had to think of myself. I know who they are considering hiring (her in-laws have alot of pull in town) and she very young (mid 20s) and would be around a long time.

Dh is happy-he doesn't like us in this school either. So now I need to get a resume together and start sending it out. I'm hoping there will be an opening at a school within driving distance, and they will be willing to work with me on emergency certification. 2nd best case would be to teach one year somewhere then move into the counselor position. I'd rather move now and get the kids settled into a new school, and the baby in a nearby daycare.

It is just hard to think about big changes right now. I would have to interview pregnant, but the baby will be 9 wks old when the school year starts. So I'm hoping my pregnancy won't have a negative effect on my job chances.

I guess I just needed to write all that down! It has been on my mind all day.

I think you're in a pretty good situation to look for a new position. Are there a lot of job openings in the area? For me, in Ohio, it's really hard to fathom giving up any kind of job in education. It took DH 4 years to find something part time.

And I don't understand the emergency license thing--I'm not sure we have that here. Can you renew your current license and get certified to be a counseler? All the teachers around here do everything they can to get extra certifications just in case they need them.

Hope everyone else is doing well! I get to go talk to a bunch of middle school teachers in a couple of hours. I have to try and convince them that having a relationship with me (the children's librarian) and their public library can make things easier on all of us. *sigh*

My son BARELY eats. He is just skin and bones. Now his sister??? OMG. This child is a moose!:lmao: You should see her throw down some food!:rotfl2:

So I made a complete idiot of myself at the middle school.

I was explaining how we can give teachers a list of authoritative websites for their students to use on topic specific projects. So while saying this I blurt out, "I have a Master's degree" to which I got a couple of snickers and my manager took over with a different topic before I could put out that fire. So as soon as she was done, I'm like, "okay, let this bonehead explain the master's degree comment." and I said stuff about being trained to find the best sites and something else--I blocked it out.

I'm such a dork--but I bet those teachers remember the, "I have a master's degree"-girl! :(

Ha! Since you mentioned it: My manager and I went with the PR manager who introduced me as "Our children's librarian Sarah, who is going to be a new momma!" :lmao: My boss looked at me horrified, but I laughed. I mean I'm 12 weeks, not showing at all and I only knew 2 other people (besided my co-workers) in the entire room. So hopefully some of the women did just chalk it up to pregnancy brain. lol

:lmao: :lmao: I would have! Trust me, pregnancy brain is something I know well. I feel like a drooling idiot most of the time. Like the time I KNEW I paid the cable bill.. Only to have my husband wake me up to ask me why the phone, TV, and internet werent working. :rolleyes1 Same thing with the power bill.. I am BRAIN DEAD right now. :lmao:

I will apply for a new license in 2010, when mine expires and I finish my coursework in counseling. There is a big shortage of teachers and counselors here, so alot work on an emergency license. They may be working on an alternative teaching license or adding a certification. We have plenty of teachers out of subject area on emergency licenses, and some not even working on getting that particular certification. One English teacher has been teaching Spanish for 3 yrs without certification, and tells them every year she isn't getting certified (she doesn't want to teach it), but they keep applying for the emergency license anyway.

I don't think it is a matter of them not being able to get an emergency (temporary from Aug until March when I finish my masters) license for me. I think they don't want to replace me in the classroom, and just expect me to stay put. I'm so burned out on the classroom that I can barely stand the thought of one more year, much less years while waiting on someone else to quit and move on. And the person I know they are considering is only in her mid-20s, so she'll be around alot longer than I will.

I never knew teachers had trouble getting jobs until I read it on the disboards! We had a math teacher fired last year, and even the kids were talking about how bad you had to be to get fired from teaching math! He had no trouble finding a job in another district.

Thanks for explaining all of that. About 10 years ago we had a major shortage, where the Cleveland district actually went to a different country to recruit. This was when we started undergrad, by the time we finished, there was NOTHING to be had.

Sounds like the complete opposite of what your state is going through. So it all makes more sense now. i doubt we have emergency licenses or they are very strict about them since they can EASILY find a new teacher ASAP.

I think you've made the right decision. Find a new job with a better district.
And I doubt the pregnancy thing will be an issue. Are you willing/planning to start the school year on time?

Yes. The baby will be 9 or 10 wks old, so she will be able to go to daycare. I went back to work when ds11 was 3 wks 2 days old! He was born in July, and I couldn't afford to take time off at the start of the year. Thankfully, my grandmother was able to take care of him then.

Then I can't think of any reason they could possibly turn ya down. Let me know if you need resume help--I'm pretty good with them--it was part of my librarian Master's Degree program! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I may take you up on that, and I'm glad you can laugh at your day! I'm sure they've all forgotten the comment by now, so don't worry about it!

Sarah, sounds like you had as wonderful as a day as me.
Pregnancy stuff got me, too!!

Our college has EXCELLENT insurance.
My DH is employed by the government- so EXCELLENT insurance there too. The insurance throgh my work is so/so. I compared all three and figured out that the college and DH's job offered comparable insurance programs, so we ruled mine out.
We ruled out picking up DH's because then we'd have to add him and he's covered 100% by the VA, so why pay for extra insurance?

So we got the college insurance. Only eligibility requirement is to attend a 3 hour class in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Not hard at all for someone going to school, ya know?

...The college informed our professor that our class may (75% chance) be CANCELLED today! If that class is cancelled I lose my financial aid AND my health insurance.

I started crying in the middle of the room and people were just staring at me but I couldn't help it.

The professor had me write down what I stood to lose if the class was cancelled and promised me he'd go to the Dean if he had to.

But I felt like such an idiot, standing there crying!

(This is the only class I can take- My job has three people trained to do our job and two of us go to this college [which is 45 minutes from our office] and the two of us worked hard together to compromise on class schedules! There is required to be at least 2 of us there at all times so we can not overlap AT ALL on classes ...)

I'd be crying too! Dh found out in Nov that Blue Cross was raising his employer's ins. premiums over $200 a month each! His boss didn't even know at the time if his ins. would continue to be free, and he has both kids (soon to be 3) on his ins. I can only change my ins. if I switch districts or in Oct. during open enrollment, so we were screwed. Fortunately, they switched to another company and the premiums went up around $30 instead of the $200. We are holding our breath to see how well it works out when we need them-we still don't even have new ins. cards!

I'm already planning to cry through Grissom's departure on CSI tomorrow night. I'm a crybaby anyway-but right now it is really bad!

I'm so tired tonight. Dd9 had tons of homework, I had stuff to do for my master's class, two of my Calculus students asked for letters of recommendation, and my house is a disaster! I was just off work for 2 wks, and I'm already behind again. :headache:

Because I am a returning employee, my enrollment deadline for insurance was January 12.

So if I'd known, I could have still added the work insurance. I've had the college insurance since August (I lost my health insurance through my father in May when DH and I got married in Vegas on a whim) because by then it was too late to add it through where I currently worked. I was without insurance for about 2 months and it was a scary, scary thing. I jumped on the college plan-- not doubting I met the requirements because I was a student.

The pregnancy took us by surprise (a wonderful surprise! :lovestruc ) and with me switching companies to an office a half hour away (I LOVE this company and went back to them in a heartbeat!) and us buying a house that needs a little TLC, we figured me going to school half-time was a good thing for this semester.

I never imagined it would bite me in the butt this way.

I just don't see how the college can do this. :sad1:
The professor also told me he would ask students in his other class to PLEASE transfer into our class to "Really help out another student" because if THREE more students were to enroll, they can't cancel.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm sure I'm getting upset and it'll all work out in the end, but still scary-- The professor assured me he would work with me 100%.

Wow ladies! Thanks for making me feel better about my faux pas!

I'm supremely lucky to be on DH's absolutely wonderful insurance. Insurance that they will be renegotiating this summer. :(

You should double check about enrollment due to extreme circumstance. Every insurance co I've had has a clause about enrollment anytime due to job loss or other things--they may be willing to work with you.

Piecey, that prof sounds really great--I hope it all works out!
december--I'll be right there with ya crying tonight. The show just won't be the same without him, especially in addition to losing Warrick (I don't care about Sara lol) I think CSI NY might take over as my favorite. I just love me some Gary Sinese...:teeth:

So after my fun day yesterday, I felt horrible last night. I was super sick and had a stupid migrane on top of that. It was one of my worst nights--and I'm not feeling as good as I normally do this morning either. I hope I'm not relapsing, cuz things were getting a bit better...
