Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

two kids and I never knew i "needed" a PPB diaper bag:lmao:
then I saw my SIL's (who lives in chicago) and fell in love.
they are soooooooooooo pretty...have lots of pockets...a fold out, detachable changing pad ...and cost a bundle. i wrote it off as impossible, til my BFF mentioned she checked for me on ebay and there were a TON. i have been bidding for a long time, and never could pull the trigger on what they were selling for.
yesterday was my lucky day!!! its red. i love red.

From one old broad to another, Congratulations and Welcome! (My youngest DD will be 5 before this one comes too, so yes-big surprise here too! Also a good one. :goodvibes )

Ok, you all are funny! :) Thanks for the welcomes. I'm sensing a new thread title..... Old Knocked-Up Broads..... :rotfl:

Morning everyone!

One of the moms in my storytime group has a really cute diaper bag. It's from a home party company--you pick the patterns and they make it for you. It's really cool--all the moms were talking about it one day. Her little dd is the most fashionable baby at storytime-she always has the most amazing little coats/hats.

It's a good thing I'm having a boy, the word fashionable hides from me! :rotfl:

I had to go pick DH up at the VA Clinic earlier today and I was wearing grey "West Virginia" Sweatpants, a grey long sleeved "South Beach" cotton XXL tee (My tummy and I safely fit in a L, still), DH's bright Orange hat (I cut all my hair off and the nurse that called to say I needed to come get him woke me up so my hair was going about a million different directions) and Army green mammoth clogs...
Boy, was I getting some looks!

No one would ever call me fashionable.

:scared: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Honestly, everytime I see them, I think, "wow, how much money do they spend on clothes?!" (Especially ones she only wears for a few months!)

I plan on shopping for a lot of clothes at Once Upon a Child. :thumbsup2 Babies and little kids go through a lot of clothes in a short time, so the used stuff basically looks brand-new.

Sounds like Suri Cruise!:rotfl:

Can anyone recommend a good sling? I have an infant carrier, which I love when they are older. I would really love a sling this time to be able to breastfeed and still make sure my boys aren't destroying the house!:thumbsup2

We have ONE of those stores around here. I've never been in it, though.
My manager's daughter (who graduated with my DH, welcome to small town WV!) had a son in March and she is passing almost everything to us. I figure that'll help a lot. She said we're the only ones she knows having a boy, the rest are girls!!

Sarah, that is crazy to me, but you're right. The money they must spend is nuts!
If my little boy is anything like my DH and his brother were growing up (though they lived in the country country) nothing he has will stay good for long. No way I'm going to shell out $$$ for clothes that are going to be worn and torn. They're for a kid, after all!

I'm totally with you guys.

My assistant just gave me a coupon for Target--If I register there by 2/21, I get a $20 gift card...but I think that's too early to register. By the time my shower comes all the new models will be out and my whole registry will be out of stock. Oh well, it was a nice thought!

Set up the registry. You can always add and delete things. I know I did alot and I did not have an incentive to start a registry.

That's a good idea! It's never too early to get started...

:lmao: :lmao: Thats so me. I have no fashion sense.. I am a tee shirt and jeans chicky all the way.

No doubt. We got CASES of baby girl clothes from one of my husbands friends that has twins. Size 18 mo-4t.. All in amazing condition.

We got our car seats and stroller.. and crib and mattress today. HOLY CRAP is this stroller huge. :scared1: The car seats seem pretty massive too. They fit larger babies.. up to 30 pounds. When I had my other two, my seats only fit up to 20 lbs. Anyhow.. I think I have the whole thing set up. Its a little freaky seeing that double stroller with two car seats in it. Im starting to sweat it a tad. :scared: :lmao:

How fun!!!! Better you than me, I am sweating over the thought of DS still being in diapers with a new one on the way. I can only imagine being you!

:lmao: :lmao: My son was still in diapers when my dd was born. MAN. THAT was crazy! his diapers looked HUGE compared to her itty bitty newborn diapers!:lmao:

Hey everyone! I went to the doctor today.

Still 2 cm, more thinned out and he has moved down a little.

Took DS#1 to a sibling class tonight at the hospital. He made a big brother t-shirt, a welcome home sign and got to tour the labor and delivery area (and got to see a newborn baby). He had a blast! Made me tear up thinking that I am going to be holding a newborn very soon!:goodvibes

Anyone ever looked for a job while pregnant? I'm not so happy with my school, mainly because I'm not feeling it is the best place for my kids. By the time this little one gets there, I don't know what will be going on there! We got all new administration this year, and I was really close to the old superintendent and principal, so that is part of the problem. I don't like the new guy! So I've been seriously considering moving anyway.

I'm working on my counseling degree, and our counselor is retiring this year. She warned me that they like my teaching style and won't want to move me out of the classroom (not alot of math teachers in MS). Well, the principal came by today and asked me about my progress. I told him I'd finish in March of next year. He told me that the superintendent says he can't get me an emergency license (even though we have one teacher who has been on emergency license for 3 yrs now!). But they don't want me to leave "if" they hire someone else. I explained to him that being a counselor was my goal, and if they hired someone else they would be around for years, and I had to think of myself. I know who they are considering hiring (her in-laws have alot of pull in town) and she very young (mid 20s) and would be around a long time.

Dh is happy-he doesn't like us in this school either. So now I need to get a resume together and start sending it out. I'm hoping there will be an opening at a school within driving distance, and they will be willing to work with me on emergency certification. 2nd best case would be to teach one year somewhere then move into the counselor position. I'd rather move now and get the kids settled into a new school, and the baby in a nearby daycare.

It is just hard to think about big changes right now. I would have to interview pregnant, but the baby will be 9 wks old when the school year starts. So I'm hoping my pregnancy won't have a negative effect on my job chances.

I guess I just needed to write all that down! It has been on my mind all day.

Wow, you've got a lot going on.

The DIS is a great place to come let it out! I still talk to cruise buddies from the Wonder from 9/06! We all vent and talk and commiserate together!

(I'm with you on doing whatever is right for YOU, too... if that school isn't interested in making you happy, find one that is!!)

The clothes my sister gave me just looks like they've been washed already, that's it.

No, I haven't. I think the fact that you'd start a couple months after the baby is born, and not leave in the middle of things, that your pregnancy wouldn't really count against you.

Good luck!
