Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

After lurking here for quite some time, I think it is time to introduce myself. My name is Maggie, Im a fellow Disney Bride (Hey Skylarr:wave2: ) and Im due September 14th. Im 12 weeks today:yay: . So far I haven't had any real morning sickness (no vomitting but regular nausea). I do have trouble sleeping because im a stomach sleeper (between stomach pain and pain from my ever growing northerner friends, it makes for a long night- although i do stick my leg out, i typically end up on my side waking up several times). I do get indigestion quite a bit, but nothing too big. I have had a real fit with fatigue though- can't wait to get that second wind hopefully very very soon!!

Can't wait to jump in on the mix and hopefully learn a whole lot from everyone :thumbsup2

Welcome and congrats!!!!:cheer2: Have you tred a body pillow. I used to be a stomach sleeper but had to switch years ago because of a bad back. Anyway, it really does help.

Welcome Maggie and congrats!

I know how you feel with the whole sleeping situation. I am a stomach sleeper too so it's been a huge adjustment. I wish I could say it gets better but as your tummy gets bigger it only gets more uncomfortable. I would definitely invest in a body pillow. They're a lifesaver! :thumbsup2

Hi Maggie, welcome and congrats to you & DH!
I am a stomach sleeper too, so I know exactly what you mean. You have been lucky with the morning sickness so that is a good thing. Are you going to find out the sex or wait and be surprised??

Look forward to chatting,
Ann

Thanks everyone for such a welcome!!

I have a body pillow but the one that I have is so big and bulky that it doesnt work for me. I suppose if it was more flattened it would work out better. I think I bought it at Walmart the day after Christmas (or possibly Thanksgiving). I tried it one night but it was just too big and hard to squish down.

Dh and I are definitely going to find out the gender. I am so eager to know. I also meant to mention that this is our first. I had an intuition from the beginning that we were having a girl, but dreams lately have only been about baby boys (ive never dreamt of a girl). I go for another drs apt tomorrow and once i hear the heartbeat again we can take bets! (i last heard it at 6wks which is almost too soon to base it on the old wives tale)

Last, did anyone who absolutely knew their dates for sure have an U/S that dated the baby a week behind? And if so, any problems later down the road? Doctor questions my dates, I can tell, but let me assure you that I can tell you the HOUR the seed was planted. So, this has me a little worried. I'm also sort of concerned about the utter lack of pregnancy symptoms when with my last two I could hardly take a bite the entire pregnancy without throwing it up - they were girls, does this mean boy?

I know I don't post much on here - but who better to discuss with than a room full of mom's to be? BTW - Due in Sept. - 13 weeks now. Have a DD who is 14 months old so not much of a non pregnant break for me!

How are you so sure that the date is wrong? I think I know exactly when I ovulated and when we did the deed and based on that, I should be aboud 5 days further than I am. But sperm can hang out for up to 5 days, so I think that accounts for my time difference.

I seem to be feeling the baby a bit earlier than the books say I should, but that's really the only thing for me. I don't think a week is all that much difference when you come down to it?

And for the non-symptom thing, I wouldn't worry! I have heard sooo many people tell me that they had great pregnancies where they didn't feel anything for the first trimester or more (I really want to punch them every now and then :thumbsup2) And every pregnancy is different, so you can't really count on your other ones.

Plus the nose stuff is a definite symptom!! I've had nosebleeds for the first time in my life! Freaked me out the first time!

Well, the one thing I am sure on is every important date that would tell me how far along I am but as far as it hanging on, I guess that could be the case -who knows. According to U/S it puts me back 8 days to be exact. Let's just say that I may not be so concerned about it had I not went through the T18 scare in the last pregnancy. Small for dates can indicate chromosomal problems and I'm a thinker (aka worrier, lol). But I also just read today that it can happen with High Blood Pressure and I struggle with that while pregnant as well.

The non symptom part - just very strange to go from one pregnancy of hyperemesis gravidarum to this one with no sickness/tiredess/soreness/etc. (well, other than the pesky nose issue!)

Hey mama's to be!

Ok, first, wierd question - does anyone have, uh, nose issues durring pregnancy - like needing to clean it out frequently (with a kleenex of course!) and nose bleeds?

I carry TONS of tissues and have totally had nosebleeds.
I was just driving down the road whenever the first one hit.. and it was a gusher. Luckily, I was meeting a friend at her apartment but all she had was TP so I carried a roll around with me while we shopped that night. :rotfl:

And in other news....17 days til we head down to WDW :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: DS's last trip as an only child, and his 4th trip. Not bad for a kid that's not yet 6.

Oh, yay! I'm so jealous! I hope you guys have a great time!

One more comment on the circumsion...whatever you decide be consistant if you have more than one boy. My brother had two boys. SIL decide not to cause her first born any pain at birth and did not have him done. By the time their second one came she had regrets and had their last son done. I know the oldest made several comments when he was young why did it look diff. than his dad's and brother's. Granted he can now choose to have it done if he wants as an adult but come on how many men want to cause that part of them any extra pain now :scared1: , at least a baby forgets.

This is reasoning I CANNOT get to DH to go with. The looking different/being the same as everyone else. DH has 1 brother. One of them is circ'ed, one isn't. DH has more confidence than anyone else I have EVER met so he can't understand being bothered by "looking different" than everyone else. He looks different than everyone in his family (They're all tall, thin, lanky and blonde- DH is built, short, black-haired) so he said he learned young that differences are out there and you just deal with them and whether we decide to circ Lucas or not, he would adapt the same way to being "different" as DH did.
He's just got more confidence in himself than I know I ever did.
That is all I get from him when I try to talk about it. If I decide not to, he'll adapt. If I decide to do it, he'll adapt. :confused3 Helpful, my TomTom.

WELCOME!!!

I am having a girl, and had several dreams that she was going to be a girl though her heart rate was usually ~125-135bpm at first which is low based on the old wives tale!!

Gah.. We havent even talked about circumcision yet! I know what my husband will say.. Its up to me. Anyhoo... We are just about all packed up for the hospital. I cant wait to not be pregnant anymore. I am so freaking huge. I cant do ANYTHING anymore. It took me forever to walk up the stairs, and I was bawling by the time I got there. My hips are SHOT. Ugh. I just have to make it through tomorrow.. :cool1: And I will have BABIES!!

Good luck tomorrow! You jumped ahead of me on the list which kind of helped me to freak out less since I am not at the top yet- well, until after tomorrow. Though I am slowly getting to the point where I am ready for her to come out!!! Sleep is NO GOOD any more.

I don't blame you for being concerned. Hopefully everything is perfect and you'll look back wishing you could have enjoyed your one bad-symptom-free pregnancy more! :thumbsup2

Alot going on today!

I can't wait to hear about the babies-I hope we get pictures soon!

I had nosebleeds early on, and my sinuses have been awful the whole pregnancy. I know that is adding to my vomiting problems.

This pregnancy has mirrored ds11's exactly-from circumstances of conception to sickness to heartbeat. We were convinced it was a boy, until the sonogram showed a girl! So no one should get their hopes up based on anything but a clear picture or amnio!

ds11 is circumcised, and if I'd had another son he would be too. My father isn't, and he has had problems for decades. I don't know the details-who wants to discuss that with their daughter:rolleyes1 . But I know the dr's have tried to talk him into be circumcised, but at 68 it ain't happening! But according to my mother they chisel away at it a little more every time he goes into the hospital.:scared1:

****Almost forgot! My dr's nurse called-all my tests came back normal!!!!!!!!!:)

I think I might have told my mom that was TMI! :scared1:

I'm actually meeting with my OB Thursday (I've been seeing the nurse practitioner, her appt's are more convenient for me...) and since she'll be the one to do it, I want to talk to her about it. I'm 75% sure I'm going to do it, and I think talking to her will help seal the deal!

Congrats on the tests! I go Tuesday for mine! Ick!
I just bought a bunch of candy and I'm going to be so bummed if they say NO!

...I'm also super eager for Thursday's appointment.. because I haven't felt him move in awhile. He's been super-crazy-active for so long and now, I've not felt anything for 2 days!
I might see if I can move to Wednesday appt. if I don't start feeling him soon...

I also got that pregnancy pillow today! Hopefully it helps tonight!!

Yay on the test results!! :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am actually doing a lot better today. It has been difficult but we are getting by, I keep looking at my two oldest sons and I feel so blessed to have them. My milk actually came in and I am sooooo engorged. I am using the cabbage leafs but it doesn't seem to be helping much yet. My faith has grown stonger through this very difficult trial so I am able to see the good in a bad situation and I know God is completely in control. My husband keeps saying "well when we try again...." and I'm like slow down buddy I want at least six months for my body and spirit to heal.

I plan to stick around on this board for awhile because I am anxious to see pictures of new babies as they are being born after sharing the past few months with all of you.

Thank you again everyone, I appreciate your thoughtful words.

Have you tried having something sweet to eat or drinking some cold water and then laying on your left side?

They say that is one of the ways to get them to move. Maybe you have been to busy lately to notice?:confused3

I don't blame you for wanting to move up your appt.
