bottles.....so has anyone decided on bottles, yet??

I had some great gerber ones (very similar to advent) w/my 7 year old) then they didn't make them anymore so I had advent w/my 2 year old. Now w/all the BPA issues, I need to get more, as the advent ones I have are not "bpa free" I went looking today and it's going to kill me to spend tons of $$ on bottles again. I was planning on getting new nipples for the advents for this one....oh well.

I saw the born free ones and BRU had a good sale on them, $5 off a 3 9 oz pack, but they had an extra valve in them, I can totally see those getting lost. I like the thicker ones, like the advent and the born free...

UGH...decisions!

My brain just blew up!

Everytime you guys talk about buying big ticket items it makes me cringe...I'm an obsessive planner and I can't buy stuff like that without thorough research...I probably should get busy now.:thumbsup2

I got Dr. Sears' Baby Book out of the library and returned it the next day. Have any of you seen it? It's like 6000 pages!

So am I (an obsessive planner). My mother is SO perturbed at me for buying most of my big ticket items (crib, changing table, shelf, bedding, mattress, highchair, swing) because SHE wanted to buy me one of them. So I called her and said "We found our stroller, Sears sells it, if you want to get it for us you need to tell us because otherwhise I'm buying it since the last one we liked was discontinued!"
This was yesterday-- Dad called today to tell me it was ordered!! :rotfl:

Totally the best thing we did (and I'm sure you'd do it, too!) was to go TRY the strollers. The ones I liked on the internet, I ended up HATING! I love the Jeep one at Sears because it soo easy to use, fold down, the tray disassembles to make it fit in the trunk easier, etc. We went to TRU, Sears, etc.. and tried them all. Jeep definitely won, by far, in the end. Helps that it's nice and neutral too in case I get my girl next time... :rolleyes1

The only thing I bought without thorough research was the swing-- clearanced out to $70 (from $120) I couldn't pass it up. I kept the reciept, though, and researched after I got it home! It passed my inspection and then I found the matching high chair on clearance-- totally couldn't pass that up either!

I've been trying to spread out big ticket purchases as I'm a big credit card rewards gal (look at who I work for on Facebook- it might make sense, being the nation's largest credit company and all I know the ins and outs of the rewards programs! :rotfl: ) and I charge, charge, charge and pay off monthly to rack up the rewards! Totally love it, I'm addicted and check our rewards balances obsessively. Its our Disney fund! :thumbsup2

Sorry to keep rambling, I'm energized. He moved ALLLLL day today and it's got me sooo giddy! And eager to get prepared!

Great advice Patsy!

I used to work in the baby department at TRU (where DH and I met), so I do know a lot about what to look for, but it's been 10 years and things have changed a lot! :)

I'm doing drop-ins.
My cousin, who has 4 kids, swears by them. She's really all I've got to go with.

Also-- My DH isn't known for getting things very clean (He sorta loses interest in dishes and doesn't really *wash* them and hasn't figured out yet I rewash all his stuff :rolleyes1 ) so I'm liking that I won't have to worry about these as much because they'll be easier to clean (no bottom) and with the liner-- much less stress anyway!

I've already started buying some boxes of the liners... trying to load up on stuff like that. A couple of boxes I got came with a free bottle! :thumbsup2

december, I hope you get time to shop! I don't have a target or a BRU near me, wish I did! I just know I can't afford to wait... midterms are coming up (just have to be the day of my icky glucose test, didn't they??) and then my shower and then finals. We're cracking on the house but I know once it's done and we're actually moving stuff I'll be crazy-busy reorganizing and unpacking stuff over there before baby comes.
Trying to do as much as I can before things get really crazy! (Finals are three weeks before I'm due! :scared1: )

Oh yes...I had to walk away from the bottle department....way too many choices. now of course I"m looking online and so many more choices...UGH.

Moms would always ask me about the best bottles (I was 17) and I would tell them what sold the best and recommend they buy or register for a couple different ones since many babies have a preference.

I was pretty smart!

Hi ladies. I'm not PG YET. We are currently TTC. I had a miscarriage right before Christmas so we are now back at it. Not diligently but sub consciously. I so do want a Turkey Day baby! HAHAA.

I just wanted to stop in and say HI! Hopefully I will be joining you soon!

BTW Triple H is YUMMY!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Here's lots of pixie dust and prayers that it goes smoothly and quickly for you! :wizard: :wizard:

I didn't know that, but I haven't watched much in the last few years. I'm always amazed that people think it is real:lmao: . It is just a man soap-which explains why I got into it so easily. I grew up loving my soaps.

Baby pixie dust to all those trying to conceive!:tinker: :tink:

Piecey, I've got to get busy buying stuff. I only have 13 wks!princess: I'm an hour from all the good stores, like Target and Babies R Us. They are near my dr's office, though. My appt is at 8:30 in the morning (I have to drink the orange stuff :( tomorrow), so maybe I'll have time to shop afterward.

Have fun shopping! I can't wait until I know what the blueberry is so I can start shopping for it...

I've been MIA for a week because I'm trying to finish all of my pharm school classes this semester so all I have to worry about when the baby comes are my clinical rotations. This was the plan before I got pregnant, but now I feel pressured to actually get it done now! hah

I'm going to WDW with my mom the first week in March and I'm trying to figure out a cute way to tell her about the baby. It's her first grandchild and I think she'll be excited! :cloud9:

Thats what everyone at work keeps telling me. The only one there with young kids is a guy, so he didn't really do all this. All the other ladies are like "The swings aren't hand crack anymore??" :rotfl:

I didn't see this before I posted, but this is what we're doing too!

I like everything i've seen about them so far!

I hope you come up with a cute idea to tell your mom. You planning on doing something in Disney World?
I'd probably do something like "I can't wait to bring my kid back here next year!"
I found out the day before my dad's birthday, he was on vacation, and I called to say "Happy Birthday, Grandpa" basically. It's so neat to tell you parents, they get so excited!

Enjoy your trip-- I can't wait to go back with this kiddo!!

I just wanted to say HI. I have started stalking these ladies in the last few weeks and I am not PG either. Please stick around ... I need a buddy. We are TTC #2 right now and are on Cycle 5 waiting to O. Good Luck.

This is number one for us. I will definitely stick around HAHAHA:thumbsup2

I'm definitely planning on doing something in Disney World to tell her... either buying baby stuff or telling her next year we can bring my kind with us! I can't wait to see her face :goodvibes

Welcome!!! Sending babydust your way!

You know that he's married to Stephanie McMahan and they have a kid, right? For some reason, it always amazes me that people don't know that. I think they might actually make it part of an angle soon.

Thanks!
Yeah I know! I don't understand why they don't play that storyline up more.

You should let a photopass photographer in on it so they can catch the moment!!

Or maybe nab a dream team member- I've heard/read on here that they'll present people with certificates or something you bought to break the news!

Ohh, I'm so excited for you ! You've got to report back!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :yay:

That's a great idea!

I would try calling ahead to see if you can set something up. I'm sure they do things all the time and can help you with ideas. The photogs and the disney florists come to mind...

Sarah-- When is your ultrasound again? I forget, but know you told us.

I'm not buying bottles or a pump I think. DS went straight to a sippy cup and we started him on a cup early...like 7 mo? Maybe my memory stinks. I did have Avent for both kids but he wouldn't use a bottle and I doubt I'll be away from baby for any length of time. DH has a tough deployment schedule for the next year.

I'm really trying to keep stuff to a minimum honestly. We are in a small 3br townhome (granted, 1/4 mile from the ocean!) and I don't have room for lots of baby gear.

I'm sorry about your DH's deployment schedule. That is a toughie!

DH was reactivated and told there was a 75% chance of deployment in November-- petrifying (he's Marine Corps. IRR!) but it didn't happen, thank goodness. I know that I was scared silly, though!

I think I'm probably going way overboard with stuff, but this is my first.. and I have a rather large house to fill for just me, DH, doggie and kitty. :)

I directionally nested this weekend. :lmao: In other words.. I sat, and pointed. And yelled. But my room is almost all put together! My crib is up, and ready for babies! Good thing too.. They almost poped out last night! By the time they ACTUALLY come, I will know everyone in the hospital by name.
