"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

Congrats on the impending move! Exciting.

Have fun at Disney Sarah. :)

We went to Hershey for a few days last week. First vacation w/ the twins, it was good, but tiring. DS7 had a good time & that was our main reason for going.

But man, taking 3 kids (2 babies/toddlers!) on vacation is like planning to move a small army, the sheer volume of stuff you bring... ugh. It was much easier packing up just 1 kid. Needing 2 carseats, 1 booster seat, 1 double stroller & 1 special needs stroller -- there wasn't much room left in the minivan for stuff, so we bought a cap to attach to the roofrack.

Anyway we stayed at the Hershey Lodge, checked in kinda late on Monday (8pm) for a 3 night stay, the nice lady at checkin upgraded us to a 2 rm suite!:woohoo: So we actually had enough room for the 2 PnPs & our double stroller. Only minor thing was there was only a king bed, the sofa in the sitting area was not a pullout sofa, so DS7 was sleeping with us. It was more an executive suite, for entertaining or meetings, but to make it more family friendly, that would be the 1 change I would have made, just swap in a sleeper sofa. Having a real dining area, we ordered room service twice for dinner. Since not having to take babies nearly ready for bed down to a restaraunt, so we could eat while they started to meltdown was a plus.:goodvibes

Oh and yesterday was my birthday..... I think I'm old enough to start lying about my age....... 39 (really)..... thinking I should only admit to 37 or maybe 36.........:rotfl2:

That sounds like fun! How was Hershey? I've heard it can be really busy in the summer, but it's so close that I would like it to be an option for us at some point. I can't believe I've never been there!

It was good, but honestly for little ones Dutch Wonderland might be better. DS7 liked the idea of Hershey once he made the connection Hershey --> chocolate :lmao: But in terms of rides he is a bit of a chicken.... we got him on 2 coasters (they have a bunch of coasters -- who knew) the 2 more gentle I think & once on, he did like them, but man we had to work on his courage to get him to try. They also have a new waterpark area, that we pretty much skipped, seemed too hard to manage w/ the 2 babies & older DS. Also since I hadn't been there since I was a kid, we really didn't know the lay of the land so to speak -- so the first day there we just sort of walked around getting our bearings.

It's also very hilly, so tough pushing for the stroller crowd. I brought my big honkin' SUV sized double (baby jogger city classic) for the twins, which was great, the bigger wheels rolled nice & easy. We had tried out the used Maclaren twin techno I picked up & once it was loaded up with 45+ lbs of kid -- we fatigued just pushing it around the neighborhood. So fo us, it's not real useful except maybe as a mall stroller.

They have a "free preview" when you buy your tickets the night before, that in retrospect would have been a good idea. Basically, when you buy your ticket (for the next day) you get free entrance for the last 2 hrs or so of that day. So long enough to roam around a little & plan out your next day a little bit. Since we got in so late on Monday night, it wasn't feasible for us, but our first day in the park was kind of a bust, mainly because we didn't know what we were doing and it was too hot & humid for the babies. Our 2nd day we got more done.

It was an easy drive for us, 2 1/2 hrs -- So I expect we'll do another trip sometime. Not sure when, but for older DS, it was an acceptable vacation destination in lieu of Disney.;)

ETA: I had heard that it could be really busy during the summer as well. They must have meant weekends during the summer. So for us, it wasn't that bad. We drove there Monday night & were at the park Tu & Wed & it just didn't seem that crowded to me. Maybe I'm just thinking Disney crowded & the 2 just don't compare?

Thanks for all the info!

I know there's a bunch of other little places around here for the littles. A couple co-workers were talking about a couple that I've already forgotten the names of. lol

I'm quite jealous of the options that you have in and around your area.

Ahhhh.... Don't you just love when your baby goes down for their long afternoon nap. :goodvibes Gives me lots of time on the DIS.

I think next year we will take Natalie to SeaWorld in San Antonio. It is about a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive from here. Not to bad at all. There is a really nice Hyatt close by that is super kiddo friendly. That will be our first "real" trip with her.

Did anyone here have an amniocentesis done? I can't remember. Trying to make up my mind if I'm willing to do it and I don't know anyone who has gone through it firsthand.

MinnieFan-- totally with you on the naps, especially as miserable as I am right now! Lucas has a cold right now but generally naps from 12:30-5pm and the cold is making the naps longer. He went down at 11:45 and slept until 5:30 today. Last night he went down at 9:30 and slept until 8:45 this morning. I love his sleeping habits! :rotfl:

Hi Everyone!!
I starting to redecorating logan's bathroom at the new house and wondering what everyone else did to get ideas!! I have no idea what to do :confused3 How is everyone doing? Logan went to gymboree today and he was the only one there!!! :scared1: Hope everyone is doing great!! :flower3:

Patsy! Good to "see" you. :) You are soooo close. Why is it they are wanting to do the amnio? Checking for lung maturity or something else? I've never had one, so no real help here. Wow, Lucas is a sleeper. My two have colds right now too, it makes for some rough nights..... :sad2:

I didn't have an amnio done, but I do know that they are extremely invasive and carry lots of risks. You are already 37 weeks, which is considered full- term, so I wonder why they would bother with one instead of just delivering. :confused3

I see that Patsy hasn't posted anymore since Monday night..... I wonder if she has had Owen yet? Or maybe in the hospital on babywatch.....

Hoping all goes smoothly for you Patsy! :goodvibes

Nope. Still around. I've been having contractions pretty steady for the last 3 weeks but my OB isn't taking me early.

The amnio would be to drain fluid. I have too much-- they told me anything over 25cm is high and mine is 38cm. Owen is big- measured 9lbs9oz Thursday, and my belly measurements on Monday were 46. (do they measure that in cm? I've never asked. She just told me 46! lol)

I can't bend, can't really eat, can't carry Lucas, takes me 10 minutes to recover from the stairs, etc. and amniocentesis is my only option for "relief"...

I've had the consultation with the high-risk OB, the Level II ultrasound, etc. and the extra fluid is not an issue with Owen so there is no reason to take him early other than my comfort, which is why they are offering the amnio. Actually, the high-risk OB told me he'd take me early but I'd have to deliver at Women and Childrens and I'd rather deliver here.

My OB is really, really anti-intervention and told me 39 weeks. Unless my water breaks, Owen stops tolerating the fluid, etc...

I started with bi-weekly NSTs per the high-risk OB the week my OB was on vacation. Her NP checked me 7/29 because I was having steady contractions and I was 4cm dilated.
My OB told me I need to come in "sooner rather than later" if I'm contracting yet... she never checks me. :rotfl: She always sends me home so I've pretty much gotten to the point now that if I don't think I'm going into labor, I'm not going in to get checked. I still see my OB 2x a week.

Still scheduled for RCS 8/26. I could do it 8/24 but don't have Lucas care- want DH to take time off when I am home. So we're doing it 39w2d and my friend is taking that Friday off to watch the boy for me. :)

Yes measured in cm. :)

I can't believe how close you are! Also can't believe that your OB won't at least think about doing something... OTOH, better to wait and make sure Owen's lungs are ready. I think Sean's were a bit sticky and he was only delivered 4 days early... but boy do I know how uncomfortable you are with a BIG baby and too much water.... BTDT.

Keeping you in my thoughts.

I hope everything goes awesomely Patsy! You'll be in my thoughts.

We leave tomorrow! So much to do! AHHH! :teeth:

Sorry that you are soooooo uncomfortable.:sad1: At least the end is in sight. If you might be hoping to pop into labor sooner rather than later and have Owen's birthdate bumped up from 8/26, you might opt to go ahead and do the amnio, maybe you just get a little relief by draining some fluid -- maybe it irritates your uterus just enough to bump you over into active labor, and they do the c/s ahead of schedule.

However it goes wishing you a smooth delivery & easy recovery, as well as another happy healthy baby.:flower3: Maybe Lucas will give baby bro some instruction in the joys of sleeping --- if he can do that, maybe I should have hime come & give my 2 a talking to! :thumbsup2

Patsy, I can't believe Owen is almost here!

Sarah, have a great time on vacation!!

Not much going on with us. Had our home inspection on our new house yesterday, home inspection on the house we are selling is on Friday (which I am nervous about!!), DSD is full swing into swim team at school, DS is full swing into Pop Warner football, and my little E is a super good traveler to all his brother and sister's events!!

And, a new picture of Elliott from this morning! It was dreary out, so I needed something to make me smile (and I knew my DSD would want to see him wearing the outfit she bought him. She sure does spoil him!!!)

Bless your heart! You sound like you have to feel miserable.... I hope you get some relief soon!

OMG! could he be any cuter?!? :goodvibes What a doll!

Patsy : all the best to you. I'm sure that you are so uncomfortable and caring for another child while you feel like that must be so hard.

Sarah : I'm sure that you are well on your way but I hope that you have a safe trip and have a ton of fun! :goodvibes

Carys started rice cereal! I tried it yesterday but I made it way too watery. She still took a couple spoonfuls. Today I made it with a little less forumla and she did well! So cute. Her first spoonful she made the funniest face like "um, what is this?" for some reason 1 tbsp seems like a lot once it is mixed and in the bowl. I don't know how long it will take her to want to eat all of that in one sitting. :confused3 I guess I will find out.
