Has anyone seen the new Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows trailer that was released today? Any thoughts? I just watched it online and it looks amazing!! I can't wait for November to get here!

Thanks! It's in HD too. The graphics are awesome. popcorn::

It looks incredible. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Since it's in 2 parts, so they don't have to squeeze all 800+ pages into 2 hours, :headache: I hope this means they will really slow down and focus on the story & emotions now. The last 2 movies were more like clipped, Cliff Notes versions in movie format. Daniel looks like he's really gained some emotional depth, growing up. They need to be able to put that into the films. This IS after all IT for him and V.

I've always loved the movies (although not as much as I love the books!) but it seems to me that this one looks even more polished than the previous movies. Looks like they really got all their special effects down perfectly! I've already watched it 5 or 6 times, it just looks so awesome!

Agreed! I was disappointed with the last couple of films. And some of my friends & family that don't read the books were left kind of confused and I had to fill in a lot of gaps for them. Hopefully that won't happen with this next one!

I had to do that too!!! They left saying "uh... what just happened?"

I was wondering though, about the part where Voldemort has Harry by the neck, when did that happen? I know that Harry reiterates to Voldemort about his lack of love and the like but that was in the Great Hall, in front of everyone. It looks like that takes place in the Astronomy Tower and that they are alone... I hope that isn't supposed to be that scene. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone's reactions at what Harry tells Voldemort in the end.

THe trailer says it will be in 3D too-THAT will be cool.

That did NOT happen in the book. But you know, the screenwriters love to take creative liberty for the movie. I am hoping that is not supposed to be the Great Hall showdown either because that would be disappointing. Plus, I really want to hear Mrs. Weasley yell that infamous line to Bellatrix Lestrange :lmao:

I was wondering though, about the part . . .

Yes, my DSis had that reaction. She can't quite understand why her sons and I (who all read the books) were so gung-ho over the series. :confused3 She never felt the same way about the characters the way we did.

Of course not. When they so quickly glance over all the emotional elements, cut the dialogue down to a THIRD of what's in the books. :sad2:

. . . And the DEATH scenes! :sad2: I wept, I mean I wept  over the main characters who died in Book 5 and particularly Book 6 - you know who I mean. But, in the movie, it was like watching an abbreviated clip on the evening news. :sad2:

I'm sorry, but when you've been along for the journey in 6 books with some of these characters, they deserve their death scenes done properly - not skimmed past in slow motion. We've all watched enough death scenes to know what a good tearjerker death scene is.

Responding to lacrosse_lady72 spoiler:
Whiting out, so highlight to read it.

I thought that was the showdown scene towards the end, right before where V and Harry zap each other. :confused3

Well said! I think that's why I was so disappointed with the last movie. I really expected so much more from it. Especially since in the book I cried like a baby. The movie left me with a kind of indifference. I didn't hate it but I definitely didn't love it. Not like the book.

I can't help but have really high expectations for movie 7. I have tried not to with all the other movies but with this one...that's IT you know? This is their last chance to really get it right and to give the fans what they want. And because it's being split into two movies my expectations are that much higher. Because that way I feel like they have no excuse to gloss over stuff that is important. I think they know that too...I mean, some of us have been reading these books for half of our lives (I'm 24 and started reading them at age 11) and I think they realize they have some pretty high standards to meet!

Wow!

I started crying right at the dedication when I read JK Rowling's dedication for Book 7: "And to You, if you have stuck with Harry to the very end."

Yes, they had better get these last two right. Not just follow along with what happens in the book, like a synopsis, but get it right. :thumbsup2

Me too!! I was a bawling mess through the whole thing honestly...mostly because I knew it was the end and I was so sad it was over. By the last couple of chapters I was crying so hard I could barely read the words :rotfl2:

I started to lose it all with the first casualty of DH, (highlight it) Hedwig. I cried like a baby! I think that was one of the more sad deaths in the book to me.

:lmao: Me TOO!!! I cried during the last line of the book. Not only because it was the last line, but because I remembered watching an interview with JKR, around Book 3. She said while she was writing the beginning of Book 1, she already knew what the last line of Book 7 would be and had already written it out. We had all finally come full circle with her. :grouphug: :sad1:

:lmao:

Oh, I know. I couldn't believe that one.   And that it was the first one. :scared1: I knew we were going to be in for a long, bad battle, after that. :sad1:
