Help! Expecting twins girls in Sept/Oct. Already have ressies for WL (jr. suites) for Nov. 28-Dec. 5. Anyone ever take newborns? We also have a 9 and 5 daughter(I'm gonna be outnumbered 5-1.)
 :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

It's been a few years since we raised our twin sons but the experience is still etched in my mind.

First off whoever said that having two is as easy as having one has never had two at one time.:D

No way would I take newborn twins to Disney.

Night time feedings are usually not at the same time meaning getting up every couple of hours and not getting proper rest. Something needed for Disney.

When one crys for some reason the other tends to join right in and it's tough for mamma to walk and bounce two at a time.
You're gonna need a lot of help.

If you are traveling by plane infants have difficulty with ear pressure since they don't swallow often to equalize pressure.

I hate to be discouraging, but for the next couple of years you are going to be very busy.:)

Just think how great it will be in a couple or 3 years when you can take them.

I agree that you are going to be very busy this fall :)

I am mom to seven kiddos, the youngest being 7 month old boy/girl twins born just a little premature (7 weeks) and in the winter. That said, twins sometimes do come a little early. Also, flu/virus season would not be the time to have them out in crowds etc. if they are small and susceptible to the germs. We were basically told by the docs to keep them in for the winter.

Now, they now travel all over with us and of course love to visit the mouse. Is it easy? No. Is it doable? Yes. Harder for us since we also have a just turned two year old.

But, through trial and error it becomes easier and we have two upcoming trips to see the mouse and their first cruise booked.

One suggestion about the sleeping. When ours were born the nurses suggested when one wakes up at night, wake the other and feed them together. I got much more sleep this way and by four months they were sleeping pretty solid. Take all the help you are offered and remember it gets much easier around six months (at least for me).

Havent had any help and my dh isnt home very often and I am still partially sane :)

Congratulations on the upcoming twinkies and just remember you cant plan on too much with newborn twins so make sure if you do decide to go it is all cancellable/transferrable if something arises.

My personal vote would be wait at least until spring :)

mom to six wonderful daughters and a cute little man too.

CONGRATULATIONS! I have a twin boy and girl and as you've heard from others....NO WAY could I take newborn twins to WDW. I'm sorry to sound so mean about it but there are so many things that can vary with them:

1. twin daughter & son on different formulas, hard to keep track of when they are upset.
2. daughter slept all day and had to be woken up. son NEVER slept!
3. other children may feel just a little like they are not having as much fun with babies along...it's really hard on mom and dad too because they are so busy with babies.

my twins were about 2 weeks early and I had a C-section so it was a little bit harder then expected. Also, they were 5lb 15oz and 6lb 7oz so they were a little small. What does your Doc say about size? I know some people in our twin club that had 8 pounders so you never know!

What ever you decide, be sure to get in touch with The Twin Clubs of America...you can find them on line by state or look locally. They are LIFE SAVERS! I had so many questions. You can also ask them about the trip! GOOD LUCK!

I don't have any advice to offer you, but I just wanted to wish you all the best as you await your new little Disney Princesses! :earsgirl:

NO! lol I have twin boys and let me tell you, when they first came home and they were up all night at different times the dh and I laughed (how cute...) until it didn't stop and then we cried, lol.

All kidding aside, absolutely NOT I would NEVER EVER EVER in a BAZILLION (is that a word?) years take twin newborns, infants, toddlers to Disney World ESPECIALLY with a 5 year old. We waited until they were 3 1/2 and that was busy enough but we had fun. I didn't leave my house for the first two years of their life for goodness sake! lol

I would wait, really, you may change your mind after they are born because not only will you be blessed with twins, but maybe you'll be blessed with sleeping twins :)

GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE!

I would cancel. Unless you are going to stay in the room with them, In November that is the start of the RSV season and newborns can be very prone to catching it. My twins had it twice. Also do not forget although they are due in September they may arrive sooner twins as you know are more apt to show up early. If you are flying you may not get an ok from your pedi to do so. For at least 16 weeks. If you are a nursing family a JR suite may work otherwise you will need kitchen facilitys to steralize the bottles. I would wait and see and talk to your Doctor! Good Luck!

I am also a mother of twins(boy/girl). Yes, it is difficult to go to WDW with newborns. My twins first time was at nine months but both of my nieces were there at 4 months and did well. You will have to adjust you schedules to them but it is do able. My kids are going to be 3 in Nov and this trip in Aug will be their 4th trip to WDW and they have also been to Disneyland once. My kids have been major travelers since they were born. You will know after they are born if their schedules are able to be worked around in WDW. I say good luck and let me know if you need more help planning. I found lots neat gadgets that helped me with traveling with the kids.
GOOD LUCK:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Just wanted to say congrats! You will have so many wonderfull memories and blessings! My dad is a twin and his twin brother had a set of twins so I may be next. I already have 3 DS's and would love to have a girl or two. ;)

You know, I believe in the power of positive thinking....I think moms of multiples have to!! Our twin boys are five, are well traveled...our motto is "Plan for the worst, and expect the best" so...keep thinking positive thoughts, and go one step at a time - get through labor and delivery before you make any BIG decision to go, or cancel...and if you decide to go, call guest services and let them know what your situation is going to be...my feeling is, if everybody's healthy...well, your worst day at WDW still might be better than your best day home!!LOL and loads of pixie dust to you...life will ALWAYS be an adventure!! Take care:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My twin dds are now almost 10. First let me offer congratualtions, then pass on the best piece of advice I was ever offered, by my pediatrician who also was the father of twin dd's - "Never let them out of the stroller." I took this to heart, and when their younger sister arrived when they were 3, they were still in the stroller. Don't think they got out until they were 4 - LOL! I share this with every parent of multiples.

You'll know what will be best when the time comes. At least you have an older dd who can be of some assistance. I think the whole key to life with twins is to be flexible, and roll with the punches. Having my dds gave a whole new meaning to "laid back."

I have to agree with what everyone else is saying. Taking newborn twins on a trip anywhere is not relaxing, plus you have to take so much baby stuff with you. I think everyone might have a better time if you waited a little longer. Of course, I am basing my judgment on my twins who were hell to travel with. You probably will get lucky and get very laid back kids. Either way, I still wouldn't spend all that money to go to WDW when you probably won't be able to do very much.

Congratulations on the expected arrivals.

I have to agree with the majority. As a nurse, I have seen that twins have a tendency to arrive early, which could make them a little on the smaller side.
Also I agree with Twinmomplus2, you would be traveling at the start of RSV season - and if the babies are born at 35 weeks gestation or earlier they are at increased risk for RSV. You definately need to check with your pediatrician.
:confused:What a difficult decision to make. I don't envy you that. Good luck with the decision and with the babies. Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!

My best advice to you is to ask the pediatrician what she/he thinks about it. Ask about what kind of limits you might need to put on their time outside in the parks. Ask about their need for any particular vaccines, like the RSV vaccine, Synagis, before you travel.

I can't say that going to WDW with one newborn would be my cup of tea, let alone two, but different strokes.... Mickey

Many thanks to all who have replied. We have decided to wait and see what our pediatrian recommends. We are taking all advice to heart and really do not want to cancel the trip but at the same time we don't want to endanger their lives either.
Many Disney Thanks,
Clines:crazy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:
